We interrupt our normal blogging and all things orange and green on this 4th of July 2019 to offer a very sincere THANK U to the red, white and blue and all of the men and women who serve their Country and defend our freedom.
Today we would like to say...Happy Birthday To the USA!
For all of those incredibly brave men and women who have served in the U.S armed forces and who have literally put their lives on the line to protect and defend the United States of America this blog is for U.
For all of the courageous men and women who recognized that freedom isn't free and found it necessary to put themselves in harms way we thank U.
For all of those Army soldiers who have fearlessly risked their lives to defend our Country in World Wars, regional conflicts and in other military battles against terrorists we honor U.
For all of those Navy sailors, who save the free world on the open seas, without concern for their own safety to defend the world's oceans we recognize U.
For all of those highly skilled Air Force pilots and their support crews who defend our airspace with their incredible talent and ability we salute U.
And for all of those who served as a Marine like my father who fought in Korea and served as a Staff Sargent in Camp LeJune, NC may God bless you and keep you safe and well. It's not easy being first in and last out.
We wish all American defense personnel and all U.S. citizens across our great Nation the peace, freedom and security that all sovereign Nations deserve.
We would like to take this opporuntity to wish all of our armed forces and all of our Canespace Nation family and friends a safe, happy and fun 4th of July.
Miami Hurricane fans salute U and ask that God Bless America!

soup,
I didn't even realize we play Louisville till a little while ago.
I respect the guys that analyze every possible game scenario that can happen over the next 5 seasons, but we only play one game at a time and anything can happen from week to week.
Sully is on the money about just concentrating on what we are doing right now with who we have right now.

Solar...I will remain mostly skeptical and slightly miserable until further notice.

LOL! I understand. We will never know until the Canes actually play some games. If for the first time this decade, the Canes win a game where they are the underdog (versus UF), and then win those games where they are favored (versus UNC, BCC, CMU, VT, UVA, GT, Pitt, FSU, UL, FIU & Duke), the Canes will have a great season.
We will know a little more about this team starting in Orlando in about seven weeks.
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | July 05, 2019 at 02:11 PM
The Canes are talented, but will be relatively young on offense this season. The only starting senior this season will likely be WR K.J. Osborne, the incoming graduate transfer from Buffalo.

Nice article Soup; my father did his basic at Lejune, went on to become a captain in the Marines, got shot in Korea came back and played a year for the LA Rams, and did 30 years in the FBI in LA Pittsburgh, WV, NYC, DC and SW VA. We owe so many of these people thanks for their wonderful service!
We have many issues in this country, however we can solve them without disrespecting our flag! Our troops make it possible to live free of threats!! Kap has a point about race no doubt; but he has no right to disrespect the flag. Solve problems through reality; not acknowledging the flag and troops who defend it is wrong. JMO because despite all the problems here, it is still the ONLY place to be and be free!
Happy 4th and holiday to all of you!
Cannot wait to stop talking about basketball in summer; dont care!
Lets roll this year we can have a great season....1 at a time!

Im diggin Manny more all the time.
He picks KJ Osborn who has never played a down for Miami to represent the Canes on ACC media Because of KJs
Work ethic, leadership and maturity.
Shaq is the other player rep.
I think some of the sliders are getting TNM message.

BWC,
That was a well written piece. I think you got to have talent, coaches and development to be elite. I also agree you got to have a really good QB. This points out how when we are good on D we suck on O and vice versa. I do not always agree on the number of stars, because a 3 star can become elite with good coaching and development.
I do think you need to have strong STs....you need good punting to turn the field, you need a good range high % FG kicker, good tacklers, good blockers and sure handed if not spectacular return guys.
Great article! Thanks BWC

Ain't the article saying what The Herb has been spewing foreva! If we want to get to the top of Mount Rushmore we have to get elite talent and stack it. We are never going to be in Bama's area code and now add Clemson and Georgia to that mix but if we can get close anything can happen especially if we ever get a consistent QB.
This 2020 class looks good BUT I still don't see the it guy at LB or at DB, especially at CB. It's still early and have some big fish on the line but we have to be able to reel them in and winning will take care of most of creating problems.
That's all in this episode of The Herb knows best🤑

As long as she doesn't dump him before the national title game...
Posted by: HillviewCane | July 09, 2019 at 12:10 PM
VAC and Herb,
The only thing I would add is that at some point, the Canes must play up to their talent. The Canes haven't stacked top 10 classes in a while, but the Canes haven't played up to their talent level yet. With the exception of FSU, the Canes have had more stars that any of their regular season opponents for the last three years. This upcoming season is another example. The Canes need to run the table. In addition, if Syracuse (with its 2-3 stars) can play Clemson close the last two seasons, then so should the Canes with good coaching and QB play.
If the Canes win, the recruits will come. At some point, the Canes coaches have to show the recruits that they can out-coach and develop their players up to or beyond their recruiting expectations. Once they do that, the Canes success will snowball and they will out-recruit any of the elite in college football.

Windy,
Good points my man.
One thing a lot of fans aren't giving a lot of attention too is the strength conditioning and nutrition program.
Diaz said the whole deal hinges on the conditioning program.
While lots of people loved Swaze who was a good guy and players like Vilma think the world of him, I would take the new guy anytime.
Take a look at some of the before and after pictures on Twitter of the muscle and tone on the current players.
I don't see us folding in the 4th quarter.

There was a time big time players didn't got to Clemson, UGA or Bama, it's because they started winning. Players will come with the wins, both local studs and out of State. Amari Copper once said his desire to win outweighed his desire to stay home. With the talent we have had we should have been in the ACC title game every damn year. Its not coincidence that out best recruiting ranking in recent years came after a 10 win season
Posted by: UMike | July 09, 2019 at 05:40 PM
Agreed solar; you got to get in that weight room, hit them hard, and get conditioning. Thats why my guys work out but we ride real bikes all summer...much different that stationary...real life road challenges.
The eating is also important; hand in hand with weights and conditioning. I see a little too much belly especially on the OL...slows you down and makes you drag those feet instead of picking them up.
I feel kind good about this season...paper we should be favored in all....but paper aint where ya win...on that field. Still it looks favorable....now we got to get hungry. Hope QB gets resolved...got a feeling whoever starts has a short leash....got to get it done this year....
Posted by: VA Cane | July 09, 2019 at 06:02 PM
Right mike....its that saying winning cures all....win and everything will take care of itself.....very true especially with young hungry players....long ago now who saw win wanted to win and wanted in on winning at the U....came and kicked AZZ!!!!! Time to get back after it!!!!

I agree 100%. Players are putting in work, and if they keep it up for the remainder of the offseason and into the regular season, the Canes should own the fourth quarters of games.

UMike did you see the Menu for the Canes United TailGate. Let Me know what you think. If it is not up to snuff. If you decide to bring your grill let me know and I will give you some money. I will either pay you the 20 plus dollars or pay them Brotha. Holla Back!
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | July 10, 2019 at 11:40 AM
The Herb agrees with all but great bods, low body fat and being able to spit steel are great but talent and quantity of it win out on the football field. That's all from another episode, of The Word From The Herb!
Posted by: herbieibis | July 10, 2019 at 12:57 PM
Tsully... I don't see myself bringing the grill and all for this one. But will let you know if that changes. We were talking about trying Canes United for this game and save ourselves the hassle lol
Posted by: UMike | July 10, 2019 at 01:24 PM
UMike That sounds Great Brotha. We will do that Canes United Tailgate. The Menu so far are Apple Brined Chicken Thighs and Legs, Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese, Grilled Vegatable Pasta Salad, and Southern Style Creamy Cole Slaw!
