Im thinking the next Hurricane watch party should be hosted by alpine......
Posted by: raizecane | September 19, 2019 at 07:58 AM

host of a "hurricane watch party??!!

- i assume i would yell, "WATCH out alabama!"?

- or maybe you're talking about one of those parties where everyone's looking at their watches, trying to figure out who has the most time?

- or, . . . well, maybe i let you explain what this is and what a host does

. . . i'm not sure if this comment is a backhanded compliment or a really smooth way to say "shut up"

Only that judging by your pic, who would not want to have that view, sitting on a porch and having a few adult beverages after our Canes kick some ass.

got it ... and you're right!
(virtual invites in the mail)

reminds me of one thing where i disagree with most canes (probably not dude) . . . i couldn't wait to get out of flat south florida; missed mts., missed real seasons . . . never understood what the big deal is regarding beaches
. . . my grandmother had a cabin on a mountain in a place called balsam, NC near asheville/hendersonville/cherokee and i LOVED going up there
. . . fires in the morning, quilts, rocking chairs, bunk beds in the freezing bedrooms back of the house, shuffelboard, pingpong, walking down to the brook, hammock, porch swing, a gazillion trees instead of a gazillion people . . .

I've lived in the mountains in a great house with a great view for over 15 years it's great BUT when you grow up surfing and going to Buffet concerts since "Why don't we get drunk an screw" you get what the beach is about

Sucks

Chaminade-Madonna senior defensive lineman Willie Moise’s senior season and high school football career are over.

The senior defensive tackle and Miami Hurricanes commit will miss the remainder of the Lions’ games due to a shoulder injury, Chaminade coach Dameon Jones told the Sun Sentinel on Wednesday.

(PG rated so Soup doesn't unplug me)

Between topless bathers, shark attacks, small planes landing upside down on the beach, and getting capsized trying to get out of inlet in your boat it was a pretty chill place.

The Herb is about 2 hours from da mountains and 3:45 to 4 to the Beach. Knew where I wanted to live since I was 12 and that was at the beach. Have a place at North Myrtle but I do like building out door fires in the winter. Eye candy is definitely better at the beach.

alpine

beach memory: i wasn't much of a beach-goer; but in 12th grade i had just gotten involved with my new girl friend; we go with some others for some partying . . . get in the water; and her devilish, teasing side came out totally and my teenage testosterone heated up and i realised, i ain't gettin' back outta this water for a while ... she thought it was the funniest thing in the world, that all the water of the atlantic couldn't cool me down again (that wicked woman even left me at least once and went to shore, where she could laugh with one of her friends; haha ... and i got to act like i really enjoyed hanging out in the water)

i'm sure i wasn't out there for hours; but time slowed WAAAAAy down, while i basked in helplessness and a light fear, that maybe heavenward'ness was not gonna find the way back to earth within any reasonable time frame
. . . i think that was also the time where, when we finally took the long drive back, it was horrible trying to find a semi-comfortable position to sit; owwww

there was a part 2 to this not so long after that took place with the two of us in viscaya gardens ... i had to keep hiding behind large rock formations and inside plant grotto'y places, whenever other tourists would amble our way

were any of you ever "victimized" by the wonderfully intense way women can tease the cobra out of the basket at places where relief is not possible but embarrassment is?

alpine

Eye candy is definitely better at the beach.
Posted by: Herbieibis | September 20, 2019 at 12:33 AM

i like "eye candy" as much as the next person, but women are beautiful everywhere, with or without clothes, lying on a beach or just walking down a street
... i've always seen/felt the eros of a wide spectrum of women as far as age & body-type & personality-type goes
... women don't need bikini bodies to pull my eyes their way
... extra flesh, some sags, wrinkles, 2 livers, whatever, no problem!
but it's nice when they have a certain "realness", "naturalness", "presence"
(i'm sort of thinking this thing thru and i'm not totally sure what i'm trying to say, but i'm attracted to "womanness" ... and particularly when it's imbued with warmth, compassion, openness and a sense of fun; THAT is erotic)

and, romantic that i am, i'd MUCH rather take long hikes or bike rides in valleys & mountains & cute villages with my partner (very ideal for evening play!), rather than lay out on a beach with a brutal sun knocking on my brains and a sheen of salt & sand making me feel scraggly

(today's 2 cents from a heat-damaged, woman- and nature-enthusiast)
(apologies to herb, who's post was just a normal post)

alpine

and all this romatic talk brings us to the canes . . .

i'm a umike'ian (referring to an optimistic post he sent a week or so ago) ... i think these are going to turn out to be the type of coaches, who continue to learn and do a better job ... and wind up helping our team get things sorted out

it would not surprise me to see us run the table from here on out
(is there a mid-september bus?)

. . . and let's face it, if karma exists, we DESERVE it!!
. . . been lost in the wilderness for so long, that our grandfather clocks, allowing us to grandfather in those experiences of a greater day and act like they are part of canes-football-dna . . . well, they are now great- great- grandfather clocks; lots of tarnish on them

so yea, bring us finally to the shores of the promised land mr. diaz and we will gladly annoint you as ... i don't know ... something where you can wear lots of chains ... "head pimp", maybe?!

alpine

i don't get it ... do you all prefer sleeping at night to blogging?

just so you know, i didn't purposely set out to bogart this joint

alpine

i feel better about the dolphins

. . . at DE they've just brought in a "taco", with the idea that when the games get too painful to watch and the fans have to hang their heads and read a fins program or something, at least it can be entertaining and provide "food for thought"

solarcane

... wrinkles, 2 livers, whatever, no problem!

From the Sentinel:

“You’ve just got to have that dog mentality, really,” quarterback Jarren Williams said. “You’ve got to want to just crush your opponent and not ease up … putting your foot on their throat from the get-go.”

Anybody have any info regarding recruits this weekend?

solarcane

Aero,
current 4 star in the portal today

University of Miami redshirt freshman offensive lineman Cleveland Reed, a former consensus four-star prospect, has entered the transfer portal.

“Officially in the transfer portal,” Reed posted in a tweet Friday afternoon.

Reed, a 6-3, 313-pound guard out of Fort Meade High School, has played in only one of three games this season — last week against Bethune-Cookman. He has no starts.

herbieibis

Dude didn't really give himself a chance. I guess that's the ticket now, get beat out and then beat it, to the transfer portal. we ain't never getting to 85 players.

BigWindyCane1

I was just looking at the Chiefs v. Ravens matchup of former three-star QBs, who are now NFL superstars, Lamar Jackson from Deerfield, and Patrick Mahomes, from Texas. Neither got an offer from Al Golden and James Coley, but now look at them now.

The Canes need to find more QBs like these. Jarren has had a good start, and Perry looked good in relief. Matocha will get his shot next season, and more QBs will be recruited by Enos to come to Coral Gables. Not sure if any of them will develop into a top-notch QB, but Enos gives them the best chance they can expect.

I like highly rated recruits, but I like players who perform more.

Ray Lewis was a two star with about 0-1 division 1 offers. Jakai Clark and Zion Nelson were also two stars.

Big Facts BWC1!

BigWindyCane

Recruiting isn’t easy, and I am no expert.

I was visiting a friend in North Florida, and I saw a QB in North Florida throw for 3 TDs tonight and run for 2 others. He is a 2-3 star recruit with about 8 offers from Division 2 schools. His opponent next week is a 4 star committed to Georgia. I have seen both the University of Miami camps and recruiting visits over the last few years, and I am anxious to see how the 2 star (with no Canes offers) fairs against the UGA commit. I always wonder if we recruit the right players, but I admit that I am not an expert.

It just demonstrates how difficult it is to evaluate recruits in high school. The great 2 stars with potential are often late bloomers, while the 4-5 star recruits are safe bets. I hope our coaches are spending more time evaluating potential recruits than I am. I don’t want to see the next Lamar Jackson slip through our hands.

BigWindyCane

Butch Davis was great at recruiting 2 stars and 5 stars. We need a Butch Davis

Here we go again!

But seriously, if Butch could just explain what he was looking for, and what he saw, and what he thought a player COULD become then the MAGIC could return to The U. At least I think that is true?
