Thank you Sir

Enos O line

“We moved the guys all around last week…(Freshman starter) Zion (Nelson) is doing a nice job. Being a left tackle and being 18 it’s hard. In a lot of other places, he might be on the scout team right now, getting big and trying to figure out how to go to class and everything. We think he’s improving daily. We have a lot of confidence in Zion.

The big thing is he’s gotten beat off the ball. We have to help him maybe with cadence and snap counts and things like that to help him. But certainly, when he’s been in trouble this year, it’s been because he’s been late off the ball and that’s about it. His technique and fundamentals are getting better. Again, he’s a good player.

But we kind of moved a lot of guys here, there and everywhere this week, but we’re pretty much back to where we were, and we feel good about the five moving forward. We’re just going to keep coaching them to play hard, give great toughness and get better every week. All of those guys again it’s a process, they’re getting better.

We used last week as a practice week. We went against our (first-team) defense a lot, a lot of live, good-on-good work, put these guys in tough situations and again it’s a process. They’re going to get better. We’ve got build this offense from inside out.”

There has been some suggestion that Enos is not helping the offensive linemen enough in the schemes and play calling. Some analysts have suggested that Miami use the shotgun more often if not exclusively. Enos squashed that idea during the press conference on Monday. Enos said they will always be balanced on offense.

That was in response to a question about Miami redshirt freshman quarterback Jarren Williams being under center or in the shotgun. Enos elaborated about the reasons behind his decisions to have Williams in the shotgun or under center.

The Miami offensive coordinator stated different plays work depending on being under center or in the gun. Whatever happens, going forward, Miami needs to figure out a way quickly what the best protection scheme is for Williams, The Hurricanes cannot afford another performance like Florida when Miami allowed 10 sacks.

solarcane

Enos shotgun or under center

“I think there’s certain parts of your run game that are better underneath center rather than in the shotgun…I think there’s certain play-action passes that are better underneath center rather the shotgun as well. When you’re under center you never have to take your eyes off the configuration of the secondary.

You never have to have that moment or two where you have to have your eyes come down (to receive the ball) like in the shotgun. There’s certain things the quarterbacks are more comfortable having their eyes down the field the entire time.

And, there’s a lot of times those quarterbacks want to have the ball in their hands right now rather than waiting. When you’re underneath center you have it immediately in your hands. You have the laces already shaped in your hands and you’re able to make some quick throws out of it that way.

There’s benefits being under center and there’s certainly benefits from being in the shotgun. We will always continually evaluate what we’re doing out of both from the standpoint of a self-scout situation.”

"Let’s hope that Enos and the Miami Hurricanes offensive coaching staff does continue to evaluate if Williams is better under center or in the shotgun. It is an advantage to be multiple on either offense or defense."

solarcane

Enos
" When you’re under center you never have to take your eyes off the configuration of the secondary."

No sense looking at the pass rush that looks like its coming straight in from Cape Kennedy, the o line will make quick work of that...

"Gee this is sweet having the laces right where I like them while I lay here on my back."

Happy birthday to Mr. MILLER!

Baker took responsibility for the defensive breakdowns against Central Michigan during Monday’s press conference.

“I don’t think we necessarily had a great game plan going into it,” he said. “Credit Central Michigan. I thought they did a better job coaching than I did. So it starts with me. I think, looking at it, and really having a bye week and looking at the entire season, I think we identified multiple things that we can do better, especially as a play caller.

**********************************

After my earlier post calling for a "game plan" and where can we find one he says THIS? Not very reassuring to hear I tell you what.

BigWindyCane

Not sure why I feel this way but for some reason it just came to me this morning. We will see.

I hope your hunches are correct! VT should be a solid win. If the Canes then beat Virginia, then things start to look more promising this season for CMD and this team

86Cane

Happy Birthday Harry!

That moment you set yourself free

"Frank Beamer’s run of eight conference titles (Big East and ACC) along with seven top-10 finishes between 1995 and 2010 was unprecedented and almost miraculous. It’s also, quite frankly, never going to be repeated in our lifetimes."

86Cane

Non-believers just scroll on past...

I just realized that my new good "feeling" about the Canes future must have come from my Faith, Hope and Love bible quote and prayer. Now I'm not totally sure if it means good things are going to happen for The Canes or just God granting me peace of mind over things I can't control. Or both?

solarcane

God granting me peace of mind over things I can't control.

My wife and I were volunteering our help to Catholic Charities, and the Red Cross the morning and months after Hurricane Andrew devastated South Florida.

We carried water, diapers, canned goods, and all the usual supplies the Army loaded on my truck into the worst hit parts of Dade County.

We drove up to a blue tarp hanging from two broken trees.
Under the tarp were 15 or 20 families celebrating Mass.
That was the moment I knew God knew I knew.

Pope back for VT
I'm feeling about 45 all purpose yards.

JT4 will be running wide open most of the game right outside William's peripheral vision I reckon.

AeroCane

Question - why can’t we just play our best players - rather than playing games; why is patchen playing over Rousseau and hill? Maybe we win both or at least one of our losses if they are playing vs patchen;
Now he’s talking about how great bolden is BUT he says ‘can he tackle’ etc - just play these guys (we already know knowles and carter are not cutting it)
What I’m saying is I want to see the best most exciting players playing who give us the best chance to win - I’ve seen nothing in patchen, knowles or carter that show that they should be playing more than potential superstars
I’m also going to say (and I’ve said this numerous times before) that as much as we like deejay and camron, lingard is the real deal and we need to play him or he will be starting at Georgia or bama in a yr or 2

You get it! Lol

solarcane

Aero,
Carter was one of my favorite players coming out of high school, then he looked great on special teams.
Now he looks confused with coverage and his tackling seems to get more sketchy every game.

Lingard goes to Georgia or Wisconsin he would thrive. Here he is just rotting on the bench.

I love Mallory's passion for being a Cane but he is instant death at the worst possible moment. Playmaker's kid doesn't get many snaps?

BigWindyCane

If the Canes go on a roll, I will point to the post by Soup yesterday (and maybe some Divine intervention) that marked the turning point in this season.

Otherwise, I pray God brings me peace too because I predict I will be one angry junk yard dog if the Canes don’t win the Coastal Division

Eff the NCAA. Everybody pulls out and leaves those azz holes swinging in DA Breeze. Nothing but politics with those buzzards. They pick and choose who they want to put the squeeze on. They need to worry about how college football is basically about the same 5 or 6 teams every year. Something is not right. Kept up with recruiting for almost 50 years and this stuff is getting out of hand. Look teams have spurts and decades where they are really good and then cool off. Recruiting is getting way out of hand. Take Clemson, their to do list in Oct. Can they get their 7 and eight 5 star players. Flowe and Henderson are thought to be landing there. All of the sudden Georgia is another glamour destination. High School football in Georgia has always been good but they have never recruited like they have in the last 3 years. They have recruited good before but all of the sudden 5 star city. Need a salary cap on recruiting, Ha!

Herbieibis

How do u stay on top Bama 69 4 and 5 star players. OSU next. FSU in top 6, doing less with the most as usual same with USC. Wisconsin has like eight 4 and 5 star players. I think we have 34. Aside from OSU the Big Ten nothing but a bunch of grinders.

sometimes I think Manny has too much shyt on his plate now and he tries to use all the coaching cliches on the press while he tries to figure out what is really going on.

Which team has the better offense?
Miami - which scored 17 points against Central Michigan two weeks ago; or Western Michigan - which scored 31 points against Central Michigan last week?

How about UM's defense?
We held CMU to 12 points.
WMU held CMU to 15 points.
So, arguably, we're a little better than WMU.

Incidentally, Wisconsin defeated CMU by a margin of 61 points. In contrast, UM defeated CMU by only 5 points.

I hope we do better against V Tech.
We really need a good ACC win, even if it's against a really bad ACC team.

AeroCane

I’d like to see a lot of Rousseau, hill, bolden and lingard- then I’ll have a little faith this coaching staff ‘may get it’. If I see a lot of patchen, Carter and knowles I will understand that this coaching staff is gutless and going no where; Jmo

Go Canes!!

Love me some Billy Joel.

AeroCane

Nemo - agree
But what makes anyone think we are not a really bad ACC team? Because we think we are good? Because we are Da U? Because we have a great coaching staff? Because we beat mighty Bethune cookman? Etc LOL

AeroCane

Can we say the 2 or 3 names on here who qualify (even tho they

Lol

solarcane

This is exactly what I said on here last week.( It is also why J4 doesn't have big numbers right now)

"The biggest next step at quarterback that the Miami coaching staff wants to see Jarren Williams execute in 2019?

Be decisive and get the ball out quickly.

Miami coach Manny Diaz talked about that next step on this week’s Hurricane Hotline.

“He did a good job during the first two games of just getting the ball out,” Diaz said of Williams. “He has great accuracy and at Miami we talk about getting the ball to our athletes.”

During Miami’s last game against Central Michigan, Diaz believed Williams was focused on waiting for receivers to come open deep rather than anticipating those throws.

“In this offense, you take what is available and Dan Enos does great job of calling shot plays,” Diaz said. “You have to read your key and if the safety does what you want him to do, then let it rip. Don’t wait to see the guy open. If the safety doesn’t do what we want him to do, then you have to get it to the open guy and let him catch and run.”

solarcane

Aero,
I know you know I know

solarcane

Of all the D1 schools in the nation only Georgia Tech has completed fewer 20 yard or more completions than the Miami Hurricanes.
That is ridiculous smh

AeroCane

I am going to be a rebel and say we are 3-1 or 4-0 if Perry is starting
Guarantee we don’t beat FSU last year with Williams - he would NEVER of made that long throw into coverage for cager (or Landguard- don’t remember)

Posted by: solarcane | October 03, 2019 at 09:50 AM

ouch!

- do you think it could also have to do with what kind of a fan one is?

- i watched manny kill it in the off-season in his first year

. . . in his first 4 games as a coach he is not "killing it"
. . . nor is his OC; the same OC that everyone was SURE would "kill it"
. . . do they need time to settle in? or are we already sure what the "reality" is; i.e. another set of "losers"?

- if people want to pessimise, cynical'ize, groan, throw their wheaties bowl out the window, 4 games into manny's first season, they are welcome to do that
. . . they are also welcome to call this "reality" vs. "the delusional"

- personally, (and i'm not preachin' butterflies, rainbows or even fairy dust), doing a deep-worry dive about manny & the hurricanes is not what i, as a "hopeful" fan, (who is also not crucified on some "natl championship or bust" cross), am interested in spending my time doing

- manny's in charge of about 80 18 - 22 yr. olds (inkl walk-ons) + his staff + needs to keep in touch with a shyt-load of recruits/possible recruits + all the political/financial /media role-playing & responsibilities + game planning & film-watching each week + holding practices + another 25 things

. . . i have ZERO problem cutting the dude some slack his first year; allowing him some growing pains . . . i mainly want to see growth from him this year; i particularly don't want to see him lose the team

- if i start to see us getting shellacked again by the virginia's of the world, i will get restless, even in year 1 . . . but again, worrying about this canes stuff right at this point in time? just not me

- to repeat: i have NO PROBLEM with people ditching & dissing the canes (except when they do the 4-letter word stuff with members of our team, which i hate)

. . . but please don't act like you're the only grown-ass people on this blog

AeroCane

There’s delusional overly optimistic fans, way too pessimistic fans and ‘reality fans’
You are what you are
One is not better or worse, just different and in our case all canes fans no matter what!
I’m a realistic fan
I don’t give a shit about off season; I care about what I see on the field and recruiting and facts!
Facts: manny has no coaching experience
Manny has no pedigree (saben, Myers etc)
Manny has never been a good recruiter
Etc
Now I still believe in him and it’s only been 4 games (3 terrible) but I want to see the best players playing; I want to see an improving product;
That’s all I got right now

alpine

That’s all I got right now
Posted by: AeroCane | October 03, 2019 at 03:25 PM

- it's not bad
. . . but your triangulation of overly pessimistic - overly optimistic - realist is very weak
. . . don't forget about those 50 shades
. . . and don't forget that those shadings will change, depending on . . .

AeroCane

Not to me - I’m a cpa - no shades lol

Yes, definitely! Clemson is overrated. 'Bama too!

P.S. Just kidding! You make a good point. But the (hard) truth "will out" I suppose, when we have a sample size larger than just one or two ACC games.

good boy, straight as an aerrow!

solarcane

Nobody said being delusional was a bad thing.
I think its part of a diehard fans DNA.

Most fans of a team that has been on the skids resort to all kinds of crazy shyt to justify why everything but the program is to blame.

I know for a fact Sports Illustrated conspired with a few television personalities and ESPN to bring wrath down on us. I have heard it from dozens of conspiracy theorists on here.
