And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.
Many of you will not be familiar with this bible verse from the New Testament,1 Corinthians 13:13. But today is your lucky day, and lucky for you, I am very familiar with this verse. And, it holds serious meaning for us Canes fans.
Miami Hurricane fans should maintain FAITH in new head coach Manny Diaz.
It would appear to most fans that Diaz inherited a group of players who apparently are either not talented enough, not motivated enough or are not properly dedicated to the sport they play. It now seems as if only effective coaching, external motivation or roster turnover will solve this problem.
Miami Hurricane Fans should sustain HOPE in Manny Diaz.
He will find ways to cure what concerns all of us: Offensive line play, special teams, third down conversion rates on offense and defense and a general malaise that seems to let weaker teams stay in games with UM. Miami's reruiting has not been stellar but it is better than most teams they face. Yet, they simply don't play like it and many fans wonder why.
Miami Hurricane fans should LOVE their University and their team.
I attended UM from 1980-1986 and had some of the best years of my life there. I eventually graduated with honors. Both my Mother and Father both worked on campus for many years. All told, I spent over 10 years on that campus learning to love the University of Miami. I have not lost that loving feeling.
Now, as to the football team and the current head coach, and their performance on most Saturdays...well that has to improve significantly and soon. After 20 years of greatness we have suffered through 15 years of mediocrity. Through four head coaches and countless recruiting classes the same results have been demonstrated over and over again.
We are in the most fertile recruiting ground in the Country we have to keep the best players home. We have to find other players that can make us great again wherever they may play. Recruit, coach, play and win.
And, we have to coach and motivate these players to be the best they can be.
Then, and only then, can "The U" ever be great again.
And now these three remain, faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.

Eff the NCAA. Everybody pulls out and leaves those azz holes swinging in DA Breeze. Nothing but politics with those buzzards. They pick and choose who they want to put the squeeze on. They need to worry about how college football is basically about the same 5 or 6 teams every year. Something is not right. Kept up with recruiting for almost 50 years and this stuff is getting out of hand. Look teams have spurts and decades where they are really good and then cool off. Recruiting is getting way out of hand. Take Clemson, their to do list in Oct. Can they get their 7 and eight 5 star players. Flowe and Henderson are thought to be landing there. All of the sudden Georgia is another glamour destination. High School football in Georgia has always been good but they have never recruited like they have in the last 3 years. They have recruited good before but all of the sudden 5 star city. Need a salary cap on recruiting, Ha!

How do u stay on top Bama 69 4 and 5 star players. OSU next. FSU in top 6, doing less with the most as usual same with USC. Wisconsin has like eight 4 and 5 star players. I think we have 34. Aside from OSU the Big Ten nothing but a bunch of grinders.

I read CMD’s remarks on Lingard, Nelson and Clark, and I am becoming concerned about CMD. Nelson and Clark are the worst OL starters in the last two decades, and Lingard is an Uber talented R.B. that the Canes have coveted. Lingard has the ability to take it to the house every time he touches the football. I don’t understand

Windy,
sometimes I think Manny has too much shyt on his plate now and he tries to use all the coaching cliches on the press while he tries to figure out what is really going on.
Hopefully this VT game builds a lot of confidence and we play up to our potential.
I hope Lingard isn't another A Richards, best player on the team with bones made out of plaster of Paris.

Which team has the better offense?
Miami - which scored 17 points against Central Michigan two weeks ago; or Western Michigan - which scored 31 points against Central Michigan last week?
How about UM's defense?
We held CMU to 12 points.
WMU held CMU to 15 points.
So, arguably, we're a little better than WMU.
Incidentally, Wisconsin defeated CMU by a margin of 61 points. In contrast, UM defeated CMU by only 5 points.
I hope we do better against V Tech.
We really need a good ACC win, even if it's against a really bad ACC team.

I’d like to see a lot of Rousseau, hill, bolden and lingard- then I’ll have a little faith this coaching staff ‘may get it’. If I see a lot of patchen, Carter and knowles I will understand that this coaching staff is gutless and going no where; Jmo

But what makes anyone think we are not a really bad ACC team? Because we think we are good? Because we are Da U? Because we have a great coaching staff? Because we beat mighty Bethune cookman? Etc LOL

This is exactly what I said on here last week.( It is also why J4 doesn't have big numbers right now)
"The biggest next step at quarterback that the Miami coaching staff wants to see Jarren Williams execute in 2019?
Be decisive and get the ball out quickly.
Miami coach Manny Diaz talked about that next step on this week’s Hurricane Hotline.
“He did a good job during the first two games of just getting the ball out,” Diaz said of Williams. “He has great accuracy and at Miami we talk about getting the ball to our athletes.”
During Miami’s last game against Central Michigan, Diaz believed Williams was focused on waiting for receivers to come open deep rather than anticipating those throws.
“In this offense, you take what is available and Dan Enos does great job of calling shot plays,” Diaz said. “You have to read your key and if the safety does what you want him to do, then let it rip. Don’t wait to see the guy open. If the safety doesn’t do what we want him to do, then you have to get it to the open guy and let him catch and run.”

Of all the D1 schools in the nation only Georgia Tech has completed fewer 20 yard or more completions than the Miami Hurricanes.
That is ridiculous smh

I am going to be a rebel and say we are 3-1 or 4-0 if Perry is starting
Guarantee we don’t beat FSU last year with Williams - he would NEVER of made that long throw into coverage for cager (or Landguard- don’t remember)

ouch!
- do you think it could also have to do with what kind of a fan one is?
- i watched manny kill it in the off-season in his first year
. . . in his first 4 games as a coach he is not "killing it"
. . . nor is his OC; the same OC that everyone was SURE would "kill it"
. . . do they need time to settle in? or are we already sure what the "reality" is; i.e. another set of "losers"?
- if people want to pessimise, cynical'ize, groan, throw their wheaties bowl out the window, 4 games into manny's first season, they are welcome to do that
. . . they are also welcome to call this "reality" vs. "the delusional"
- personally, (and i'm not preachin' butterflies, rainbows or even fairy dust), doing a deep-worry dive about manny & the hurricanes is not what i, as a "hopeful" fan, (who is also not crucified on some "natl championship or bust" cross), am interested in spending my time doing
- manny's in charge of about 80 18 - 22 yr. olds (inkl walk-ons) + his staff + needs to keep in touch with a shyt-load of recruits/possible recruits + all the political/financial /media role-playing & responsibilities + game planning & film-watching each week + holding practices + another 25 things
. . . i have ZERO problem cutting the dude some slack his first year; allowing him some growing pains . . . i mainly want to see growth from him this year; i particularly don't want to see him lose the team
- if i start to see us getting shellacked again by the virginia's of the world, i will get restless, even in year 1 . . . but again, worrying about this canes stuff right at this point in time? just not me
- to repeat: i have NO PROBLEM with people ditching & dissing the canes (except when they do the 4-letter word stuff with members of our team, which i hate)
. . . but please don't act like you're the only grown-ass people on this blog
Posted by: alpine | October 03, 2019 at 02:24 PM
There’s delusional overly optimistic fans, way too pessimistic fans and ‘reality fans’
You are what you are
One is not better or worse, just different and in our case all canes fans no matter what!
I’m a realistic fan
I don’t give a shit about off season; I care about what I see on the field and recruiting and facts!
Facts: manny has no coaching experience
Manny has no pedigree (saben, Myers etc)
Manny has never been a good recruiter
Etc
Now I still believe in him and it’s only been 4 games (3 terrible) but I want to see the best players playing; I want to see an improving product;
That’s all I got right now
Posted by: AeroCane | October 03, 2019 at 03:25 PM
That’s all I got right now
Posted by: AeroCane | October 03, 2019 at 03:25 PM
- it's not bad
. . . but your triangulation of overly pessimistic - overly optimistic - realist is very weak
. . . don't forget about those 50 shades
. . . and don't forget that those shadings will change, depending on . . .

Yes, definitely! Clemson is overrated. 'Bama too!
P.S. Just kidding! You make a good point. But the (hard) truth "will out" I suppose, when we have a sample size larger than just one or two ACC games.

Nobody said being delusional was a bad thing.
I think its part of a diehard fans DNA.
Most fans of a team that has been on the skids resort to all kinds of crazy shyt to justify why everything but the program is to blame.
I know for a fact Sports Illustrated conspired with a few television personalities and ESPN to bring wrath down on us. I have heard it from dozens of conspiracy theorists on here.
