ESPN 30 for 30 - The dismantling of "The U"....How to kill a football program!

R we still using the word nancies? Lol!
Quick takes: whisky dropped 60 on CMU. Whisky just dropped what, 40 on michigan. Maybe whisky good shit.
I hate to tell u, CMU came to play on defense, they brought the heat. The came after us. They have horses on defense. Coupled with our bad line play, voila! Their D line was too good for our young line to over power. That’s the truth. I also agree with u all on 3rd down D or that stupid 4th & 17th. But the D played nice. They held the team to 12 points. What do u want. Someone said CMU dropped passes. Well u do that when u hear foot steps. Bandy was lights out. This was all O, specifically, this was O line. Their D was too good for our O line.

check out this coach speak.
Its like the classic stuff you and I used to do parodies on here about.
The sad thing is Manny actually said this

“I think what you’re seeing is a team that is learning how to win football games, that is understanding the structure from the first quarter to the fourth quarter— offense, defense and special teams — in terms of how we win a game,’’ said UM coach Manny Diaz after Saturday’s victory.

Now about that team discipline we heard about all summer

After Saturday’s game, UM is now ranked 128 of 130 FBS teams in fewest penalties.

Four quarters in a football game? Funny, I think in HS they have like 7 quarters or something? Who knew?

Offense, defense AND special teams? Three phases of the game? Wait, and all along we thought there were only two?

Thank goodness our head coach had the wisdom to hire an experienced ST coach because as we all know our special teams are awesome!

I expected better. But hey we all know about high expectations right? Bound to be let down.

Discipline? Now U wanna talk about discipline?

Near the end of the game (I guess that would be the fourth quarter?) when Miami got four penalties called on the defense, allowing CMU to score the TD and make it 17-12, Manny was complaining to the refs about the four straight penalties called against UM.

Except for the fact that they were ALL clearly penalties that should have been called, with TWO called on consecutive plays on DL Patchan, one for unnecessary roughness and one when he clearly lined up off sides in the neutral zone.

Did they bother to take him out after the first penalty? NO.

Did they bother to take him out after the second penalty? No.

I was screaming at the TV.

Discipline? Yeah, we will have none of that.

I remember when we were about 40 points ahead the penalties were for taunting, unsportsmanlike conduct, excessive celebration, jeez even the mascot was getting penalized for acting out.
I could give a crap less how many penalty yards we racked up.

Now we are penalized for stuff Optimist team players refrain from doing when the game is on the line.

Bound to be let down.

Doesn't have the same ring to it as say, "Bound For Glory"

Positives is that the Hurricanes run defense is #6 nationally. The third down defense is also ranked high because the run defense is has been good. Shaq has been all world against the run, and I was very impressed by Hall in the game against CMU.

But the pass defense overall has been really really bad, and the third down defense was not very good against CMU. Penalties were terrible, and I think the Canes need to rush more than three on third down. The Canes pass defense must play better, know their assignments and get better play calls by the DC

We keep it moving. We spent 4 mill a year on a SEC Coach, he flops. We spend less on a first timer, tbd. Let’s keep plugging away. Maybe we need patience as a fan base. Not every team gets instant turn around when a new coach takes over. Been here before.

i like your sentiments, afri!

fins & canes fan here
feeling very free
freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose

Unfortunately is getting to be like the movie Groundhog Day

Clark is a nice kid, but he is really a liability out there. Clark missed more blocks than he made, and he didn’t do anything in the run game or passing game. I can’t imagine that Cleveland Reed was worse.

Nelson is ok on rushing plays, but his pass blocking is the worst LT in the ACC. Nelson might be the worst pass blocking LT in a Hurricane uniform in two decades. This cannot continue.

Enos needs to go with Scaife at LT, or go more spread, RPO, and chip his side with a RB or TE. Nelson and Clark are too much of a liability right now. It’s really embarrassing.

And Jarren is playing well, but his pocket awareness, lack of consistent deep ball throws and fumbles are issues in his young career. Jarren May be better in the future, but right now he is average

i think this blog also needs some off-season renovations:

we need a U emoji we can press, (similar to "like"), instead of only having the option of some type of re-post + "lol" or whatever

. . . could also have a "red button" for stupid posts
. . . every time you make it to 50 red buttons, you gotta leave the blog for a certain amount of days

Some spin from the UM website pregame...

“The Hurricanes have won 18 straight nonconference home games”

The New Miami? No mo' mojo!

The Herb knows what Manny is trying to do and if U watch the 2ND 30 for 30, you too will get what he is trying to do BUT this ain't them times. Recruiting was different back in those times. Everything is out in the open and they're are no hidden gems. I'll ride this horse for now because there is no other recourse. This, in my humble opinion, is nothing more than a throw away season. try to get better let these pups learn on the job the hard way and hopefully they will be better by next season. Everybody was ready to run Butch out of town, except he had an excuse, Probation. Manny has to up grade recruiting, number One and dam, find a couple real OH tackles and not some that u hope will grow into one. This type offense is not suitable for the offensive line personel we have at present. This will be an up and down season, sum good and some suck azz. We have already seen both. Get use to it. We are missing a few pieces and from what I have seen from the verbal pledges, we are still missing some pieces. My concern, is winning on the road, something that has been a lost art at the U for many moons and winning some big games. got 2 chances coming up.

Lmbao we are paying CMD 3.5 million a year. He Sucks. The End!

Army has 5 historical National Championships.

Georgia Tech has 5 historical National Championships.

U of Miami has 5 historical National Championships.

That's who we are now until further notice...

amazing what a great offensive line elite running back and good receivers can do for a guy.

How Jarren is doing versus the ACC standard.

Williams 72 %
Lawrence 60%

Williams 0 int
Lawrence 5 int

Williams 85 comp
Lawrence 59

Williams 1027 yds passing
Lawrence 831 yds passing

Williams 7 tds

We r good with Williams at qb. And we have guys that can get it at wr. We just need OL to give him time to chuck it to them boys.

Rick Patera

At least Manny is Cuban. That's really what Canesfam was concerned about in any case. . In the meantime, the product on the field is indicative of the 5 minute "national coaching search" our incompetent AD engaged in.

And we paid $4 million to Temple to get him!

Every long pass has been under thrown from Williams all season long. Thomas would’ve had a TD if he wasn’t under thrown. He did draw a PI call on the play though.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Kul & Kehoe need to have both talked to Manny, and have transportation booked to be at practice during the bye week.

I don’t think anyone has an answer right now. We’ve tried so many different combination of coaches. Let’s just sit out, wait out , and just damn right Air it out.

Glad my wifes mom also does not get ACCN; this football sounds unbearable.I saw the FL game; the rest I get from you people. I do not need to see it; we been doing this for 16 years. Poor fundamentals, poor execution, no block, no tackle, no STs, no discipline and no thinking re penalties, poor coaching and poor effort. My young guys are 3-0 and my college guys are 2-1....both playing much sounder football...they listen, have excellent fundamentals and execute....and listen and learn.
Its painful to hear these results...glad I have seen little but ....for you solar..."Same Old Song and Dance" thanks Aerosmith.....
All we can do is line up and play. I do not make predictions but this will not be a banner year.
I do not see this idea we have monster talent; it is not Top 20 talent but is good in places. Talent can help but coaching develops talent; either way I do not see the effort by players or coaches to become the best.

Like Vince L. said "Winning isn't everything; wanting to win is the ONLY thing"!
I do not see the want....lack of effort all around...think thats called APATHY!

Tip of the hat to your son and te4am Tony....keep it rolling!!!!

orange 'n green in the vein

"V. Tech- Win and because they suck this year but it won't be a dominating performance. Jeff Thomas will trip over his shadow again and our Oline will get used and abused.

Virginia- Loss here on National TV at 8pm. We will lose bad and the recruits will talk about Dabo and Nick while leaving the stadium disappointed because we laid an egg on National TV.

G Tech- Win only because they suck but it won't be easy. Their QB is fast and will run all over us.

FSU- LOSS Briles will hang 50 on us

Louisville- WIN-Tough game but we barely win by 3 points.

FIU- WIN although we will look asleep during the first half I am sure

DUKE- LOSS. Last game away and oh forgot to mention its cold as hell in Nc THAT TIME OF THE YEAR!

6-6 RECORD please come back next year and get season tickets. You know we will be talking about how we are going to turn things around. Our O line will be older. Another year with Jarren. Blah Blah Blah. We suck and Jarren is an okay QB. Can we please stop talking about him like he is a great QB. He is NOT a first or second round pick. The QB from Central Michigan is better than Jarren and not to mention there are tons of true freshmen QB's better than him. Don't even get me started on Clemson or Alabama. My goodness we will NEVER NEVER NEVER be where they are at. Also its a good thing we don't play Clemson this year because we would get smoked by 60!

Posted by: Elliott | September 22, 2019 at 02:14 PM"

Sid-tard spin machine will go in overdrive at the realism contained here in your post but that's a given. However:

VT - winnable home game (will need your B+ game at least)
UVA - winnable home game (A game required)
GT - winnable home game (C+ game will do but don't tempt fate is my suggestion)
@ Pitt - winnable road game (If Whipple/Picket figure out the passing tree routes together by then though look out!)
@ FSU - tossup, two programs circling the drain of irrelevancy
Louisville - winnable home game (defense will need an A game, offense better not be caught loafing like they have this year so far)
@ FIU - they'll hang around for a quarter or a half but if they're close at halftime it could get iffy, still a win at this time, maybe October changes that forecast
@ Duke - winnable road game, Cutcliffe is licking his chops though and they'll cover the spread as a home underdog.

So best possible scenario is 9-3/8-4 regular season, no Coastal title, no extra loss to Clemson. But yeah, .500 is most certainly in play if they lose the next one because everybody will start playing to protect draft status by avoiding injury and that's no way to win.

Fake Lames' excuses are pathetic and so are your posts here.

Williams is still leading the ACC in being sacked, he has plowed the turf 18 times so far.

He might want to step it up, Howell from UNC is bearing down on his lead
with 15 face plants of his own.

Lawrence has bitten the dust literally 2 times.

Terrance Sullivan

I said we would be 7-6 This Year 15 days ago and nothing I have seen since have changed my mind. We are a Bad Football Team! The End! TNM equals 1970's Miami or 2006-08 and 2010-2012 Miami Versions Non Bleeping Factors.

^^^ All the above ^^^

OGV, more like POS, u r not the one to accuse anyone for lame posts. U speak the language of 4 year old with Down syndrome only understood by yourself. I don’t believe I said anything different, except that I thought the defense played good by allowing only 12 points and O line is the problem.
We’ve been going through this for a long time. The only solution is to kill yourself, complain, or lower your expectation to where u don’t need a bottle of casamigos after a loss. Complain does nothing. U of all people and the rest of the vein popping, mad as hell crew can attest to. All it’s brought us r multiple Coach changes with the same result. If u can lower your expectation and give a coach at least 4 years to put in their plan. And if it doesn’t work, Blake won’t need our voices to get rid of them after that. The last choice is what I recommend to u especially. GO KILL YOURSELF!!!

If we ran the spread with kosi and and Tate sharing the hits would it help this line the rest of the season?
Jordan could line up at wr and fotget the two or three tight end stuff.

And for the Miami Hurricanes, who host Virginia Tech (as well as some official recruiting visitors) on that day, game time has been set for 3:30pm. For those (like myself) worried about TV coverage, you can breathe easy: the game will be televised on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2. The exact channel will be determined after this week’s games.

86 - Fairy dust is not over-rated. But I will say the fairies are mad at the U and not sprinkling much LOL.

Tony - this year is going to be quite, frankly, a bit of a mess. We were not juggernauts last year, ended on a loss and now new staff but same problems which will not get fixed overnight. And I don't except it to. But lackluster play and senior mistakes need to be dealt with, we should have seen better Saturday.

OGV and Afri - you are both right - OGV we brought our D game offensively and defensively we brought our penalty game. Afri - Central Michigan came to play and never quit. McElwain had them dialed in.

What I know is this: we cannot control who hires the coach (wish we could) how the coaches coach or how the players play. I can only control how I feel and where I choose to spend my entertainment dollars and I choose to enjoy the moment with other fans watching our team. Hard Rock is a remarkable stadium and now with the tunnels and bridge even better. Remembering that when I go to the game I am living someone else's dream - a person who is unable to go for medical or financial reasons.

With that said, I don't know if I renew my season tix next year.

On another note: Did anyone see Olivier Vernon announce his high school last night instead of University of Miami? Seriously, what the eff was that about?

Solar, you need to come down for a game. Just don't expect a W and you are good.

Terrance Sullivan

CGWPB on Point as Usual. Besides Just buy Tickets on StubHub or Vivid Seats and you can still go to Games U like and Just By Parking Pass from UM. Best Decision I made this Year. I am sorry I didn't see U last Saturday we didn't get into the Stadium until like 4:15. I hopefully will see everyone for UVA Game on Friday Night October 11th. Go Canes! Beat VT!

Jarren is ACC freshman of the week again for second straight week. It looks like he is on track for First Team Freshman All ACC.

I would still like to see him make that deep ball throw more consistently and accurately, but that is a great accomplishment following a very disappointing game by the offense, especially the running game and the offensive line.

Speaking of freshman, I don't think Clark and Nelson are ready to play Division I football at this point. It is really embarrassing to watch them try to compete out there.

CG I remember all those years ago on here when you and I would talk about how the next NC was no more than 3 years away, and Coach Randy Al Mark Manny or who ever, knew what he was doing.
Going to games was an automatic thing, how times have changed huh?

Gone are those carefree innocent snow bra days, dam shame.

Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | September 23, 2019 at 10:06 AM

why is anyone posting personal attacks on other posters?

OGV: i see that solar, CGNC & soup all seem to know & respect you
. . . since i only know your blog personality i can say 3 things are vey annoying:

1- many of your posts are shot thru with personal animosity towards others
2- many of your posts sound as if your talking with your mouth full of marbles
3- every post sounds so aggressively arrogant, i sometimes wonder if your mother had an affair at mar a lago

seems to me, at this point in the season, that the canes have plenty of material to bolster even the angriest & negative'ist t sullys/the dudes on here
. . . but despite the seemingly impossible task of ever again putting out a really decent o-line; and despite baxa needing to get the axa
. . . i think it's still early enough to have enough optimism that the canes win out (though at the moment, even i'm not that optimistic regarding the pitt game)

- maybe it comes from being a dolphins fan and needing to "slurp" (nod to OGV) a bit of optimism somewhere, without becoming a fan who enjoys the off-season; then turns off the tv when the games begin

- anyway, i'm sure this post will gain me lots of admiring respect on this blog

"snow bra days" can be innocent? wouldn't the bra melt and cause exposure? am i missing something here?

Posted by: alpine | September 23, 2019 at 05:09 PM

alpine, I can only speak for myself.
I respect everyone that posts on here

I have been with Canespace, since it was just an idea.
I took a break from posting when people were attacking each other and returned when it seemed friendly again.
I feel everyone posting here has thick enough skin, or the maturity to disregard a lot of stuff. Just my 2 cents thanks

Go Canes!!

Posted by: alpine | September 23, 2019 at 05:09 PM

You will never get that question answered here sir.

No need in worry about being offensive, something the Canes wouldn't know much about. We all have our moments on here.

Least we landed on some ones list. We have now officially landed on the USA'S misery list!

Clemson now up 6 five star players for next year. Manny says he isn't looking at stars but in case he hasn't noticed, the teams that have been on top generally have 16 or more 4 and 5 star players not 9 fours and 14 3's but of course winning will take care of these problems, not eking out against scrubs.

alpine...don't get your knickers all in a wad over anything you may say, read or see here on The Space. After 13 years of living together in a confined space we all know who is who and how they roll and just sort of tolerate it for the most part without taking anything or anyone too seriously.

Just ignore the stuff you don't like.

snow bra days" can be innocent?

Sure nuff, those were some of the best days ever on this place.

Williams makes Miami Hurricane History

Williams is the first Miami quarterback to not throw an interception over the first 100 passes of his career

Barry Jackson pretty much sums it up here:

Garcia to So. Cal. Oh well I guess our OH capabilities scared him off.
This is a perfect example of losing cruits by having a sorry azz offense. He just Doris Troyed us Just One Look is all it took!
