Some of your best writing ever.
Puts some of Outside Magazine's writers to shame.

CBS Sports Poll

Miami beats a ranked team and goes from 52 DOWN 15 spots to 67 because thats how we roll.

solarcane

How do you win and drop 15 spots?

61st in the nation total yds
127th 3ed down conversions
130th sacks allowed.

That's how

If the Canes keep winning, the rankings will take care of themselves. We forget that CMR started his first season at 4-4 his first season, then the Canes went on a roll, finished with 5 straight wins, including its first bowl win in a decade. Then, the Canes finished that season ranked in the top 25, then started the next season ranked.

The Canes still have a chance to match or exceed that season. unless Ahmmon Richards finds a miracle cure, I am not sure that the Canes will do it but it’s still possible.

Here's another one that ranks:

Windy,
I think we handle GT and see a little more improvement.

In the Virginia game we saw the defense improve dramatically.

We saw Perry be a leader, and we saw him poised.

We saw an accurate short range place kicker.

We saw better concentration and less penalties.

We saw a team in better physical shape half way through the season than we have seen in a decade.

This is all progress to me.

Spacers I never post but I read the articles and posts here. Been a Canes Fan since 1985. I from Connecticut and I just went in person to see Tyler Van Dyke against Cheshire Academy last Saturday and im telling you the guy is for real. Yes its small school Connecticut prep school ball but his makeup and ability is off the charts. He is super solid to us and he will enroll in January. I think with time to learn the playbook and get acclimated to the competition in college he is going to be special. Just my two cents Canes Fans. Take it for what its worth but I think you all are going to be very happy with Tyler.

alpine

- solar, windy: good posts!

- 86: i like when you do these "back to the past" posts every now & then

- Ct: hope you hit the trifecta of rightness:
- super solid to us
- early enrollment
- special

alpine

p.s. what is a FUBAR post?

Ahh the Jumping Goat. I remember it well..

Very nice! Blast from the past! I love the post - great photos!

BigWindyCane

That’s good news about Van Dyke, CTMiamiFan. The future is bright. The Canes need a special QB to come in.

As for the QBs this season, CMD says Jarren is the starter, but Perry will start if Jarren isn’t “ready.” Regardless of what CMD says, I predict that if the QB who starts on Saturday against GT performs well, that QB will be in the drivers seat for the rest of the season. I say that because at this stretch of the season with the following two road games at Pitt and at FSU, CMD will be forced to stay the course as long as the Canes keep winning.

Terrance Sullivan

Lol let's reexamine the 2016 Season and regardless of VA Moronic Statement that the 2016 and 2017 Miami Hurricanes Teams weren't Top 20 Teams that's on him. Let's Reexamine that 4-4 Start to the 2016 Season. FSU, Won 10 Games,VT won 10 Games, GT won 9 Games, UNC won 8 Games, and App State won 10 Games. Now let's look at our Schedule through 8 Games including Pitt and FSU you see these Teams matching or being better than those opponents we faced in 2016 so not the same our schedule this year is weak as water this year.

Go Canes!!

p.s. what is a FUBAR post?

It is what happens IF we lose to GT.

But it says here that it will NOT happen.

UM 34 - GT 13

And I'll be drinking so much Capt N Coke courtesy of RaizeCane that I will be giddy with so much positivity and optimism that it will be raining rainbows and unicorns up in here!

solarcane

We should have replaced Sebastian with a unicorn as mascot right after the
LSU Peach Bowl. It would be much more appropriate

Old Skool

If you're going to start teaching military acronyms might as well add: SNAFU, BOHICA, FUBU and TARFU

alpine

solar: appreciate it!
. . . i love getting deep state info!

86Cane

FUBAR (Fucked/Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition/Any Repair/All Reason), like SNAFU and SUSFU, dates from World War II. The Oxford English Dictionary lists Yank, the Army Weekly magazine (1944, 7 Jan. p. 8) as its earliest citation: "The FUBAR squadron. ‥ FUBAR? It means 'Fucked/Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition."[3]

SNAFU is widely used to stand for the sarcastic expression Situation Normal: All Fucked Up, as a well-known example of military acronym slang. However, the military acronym originally stood for "Status Nominal: All Fucked Up."

It is sometimes bowdlerized to all fouled up or similar.[4] It means that the situation is bad, but that this is a normal state of affairs. It is typically used in a joking manner to describe something that is working as intended. The acronym is believed to have originated in the United States Marine Corps during World War II

Ha Back to Back High Noon Games as our Game at Pitt on Saturday October 26th will be at High Noon either on ESPN or ESPN2.

alpine

i think we should take a page from duke's playbook and make sure that visiting teams have a long walk to the stadium . . . particularly when playing in the heat of the day

which reminds me, we've really had to listen to a lot of bunkum coach-speak over the years

BigWindyCane1

Miami CB Trajan Bandy was named ACC Defensive Back of the Week

AeroCane

Big windy
We most likely lose to GT with Williams unless he gets pulled early
I’ve said it from BEFORE the gator game, we have a better chance to win with perry - it’s very evident! Not saying I think perry is great or wonderful etc - just gives us a better chance to win than Williams

AeroCane

We lost to the gators, nc, vt and almost to central Michigan with Williams - I’ve seen enough

Old Skool

Let me add to Soup's email regarding military acronyms then:

BOHICA = Bend Over Here It Comes Again
FUBU = Fucked or Fouled Beyond (All) Understanding
TARFU = Totally And Royally Fucked Up
SUSFU = Situation Unchanged, Still Fucked up

made me look. Forgot about that. LOL. Great blog artcicle

Great post, but no mention of the kicking change. That move was just as important as the QB change.

"BOHICA" made me lol!
well done old skool

“This is getting weirder and weirder.

If you believe what the coach just said, then he believes Rosen is the better QB -- even after 50,000 people in the stands, 56 people in the locker room, and millions on television -- saw on Sunday that is not true.

I mean, what kind of QB evaluation is that? The guy who plays better isn’t better?”

solarcane

Aero,
We will beat GT with Jarren, Kosi or Tate, they are that bad.

Terrance Sullivan

LOL Solar we should beat GT if Kirby Freeman or Derrick Crudup or Gray Crow was the QB! They are 1-5. If we lose this Game Fire Everybody!

Valid point.

I was in a hurry to write it while I was still giddy (Rum N Coke) and feeling positive (Solar's wicked good curative power) and left out the kicker. My bad.

BTW...the door here is always open for those who may be inclined to write a feature article for the front page of The Space. Just submit it by email and I will edit format and post it. Many have done it before with great results. You will be given proper credit for submitting the article. This is OUR (the fans) blog.

Game previews and game reviews are easy targets.

I will write one about the kicking game separately at your suggestion good Sir. Your recommendation is much appreciated. Now about the title for that one...

VA Cane

VA been playing since 7...54 years..Pop uncle and Godfather all played in NFL...coaching, teaching
sandlot HS and college since 78....41 years. Was at the first NC game in 83....Tsully love you and respect you always!!!...Seen some Top teams played on some!!!
2016 was 7-4....FL AM FAU were not real games...children! Teams that are top 20s do not lose 4 in a row. Good team...good players....Top 25 to me.
2017 8-3 BC TOLEDO...children...was a strong team after ND...then lose to Pitt....then Clemson...who laughed at how weak we were..they could have won 60 -0....they quit playing cause they felt sorry for CMR....then lose to Wisky....bad finish....Top 20 no...Top 25 yes.

If you think these teams were that good thats cool...I expect to win every year at every level I coach....both of those teams were good....but not strong to beat real good elite competition. JMO....you are still the best my friend!!!!

AeroCane

Aero,

Posted by: solarcane | October 14, 2019

Lol
I bet you would of said this and thought this about a terrible VT team as well

PS we are talking about a coach who thought after all summer and preseason that Williams was better than Kosi and that patchen is better than Rousseau IJS

solarcane

Aero,
I feel ya dude,Manny is living in a parallel universe most of the time.
As impotent as we, we are still 18 point favorites.

This GT team has zero players to run the new offense.

AeroCane

Ok
I’ll sleep easy knowing you said we are going to win!
