Your Miami Hurricanes lost today to Georgia Tech, by far the worst team in the ACC.

Meh, at the end of the day and all things considered, you're actually probably in the upper half of the regular posters here these days. My advice to you would just be to wake up and smell the coffee over the wafting fumes of the dumpster fire inferno, it'll be fine.

Next week, Fake Lames should be fired and left in shame on the tarmac of the Pittsburgh airport! Then the healing can begin. Don't look now slurpers, but Butch Davis has a better record in 2019 than the over-promoted peter principle coordinator does just nine miles from campus in Coral Gables! How's that for living in the present?

Noted!

TonyCane

OGV, at this point I'm willing for UM to employ Watson and appoint an AI as HC. Anything to stop the bleeding.

It would be fun to hear the Skynet AI corch say, "Resistance is futile".

TonyCane

Overall, a cruddy day. My son's 8th grade AAU team gets swept in a Excel tournament, I'm trying to avoid news on the game, then accidentally see that the miniscule GA Tech has tied it up. Ugly afternoon.

OGV...I have no loyalty to an individual coach or staff. Just to the winning tradition of Miami that has been sullied over the last 15 years. I don't care if Steve Erkel is the HC...if he can win and recruit....then bring him on.

solarcane

What quality coach do you guys think would be interested in putting in the time and effort to actually turn the program around?

I believe this is at least a three season project to have a team that can sustain a top 20 program ranking from season start to finish.
I really do not see Manny going anywhere for at least three more seasons.

Miami is not the marquee destination for great coaches or elite players.
We can not pick and choose the guy we want.
We should have spent the big bucks when we hired Randy,on
an Urban Myers caliber coach that would have us competing within two years of his hire.

We love the ACC money, and that is more important than a stadium full of happy fans watching a small private school compete in a conference they can win championships in.
Jmo
also
Pitt and FSU are going to drub us.

LOL at the time of your post. You should be in bed young man - nothing good happens after midnight ;-)
And she said that
Posted by: CGNC | October 19, 2019 at 09:59 AM

uh oh, CGNC caught on camera!

p.s. thanks for the "young man" comment
. . . that will surely bring several points kaching'ing into your karma account

alpine

THE DAY AFTER . . .

i missed the game live; didn't think it mattered; caught it later on ESPN rewind or whatever
. . . and yes, after eating my frustration thru a pack of cookies, i went to bed as shell-shocked as the rest of you

i've been married to the fins & canes since before either one enjoyed their dynasty years

in good times as in bad
in sickness as in health
for richer or for poorer
so help me
out here god/buddha/vishnu/zeus/mohammed/aphrodite/luigi/any others pantheon'istically-speaking

well, both teams sure had their good, healthy, richer times!! (and THANK YOU for those; particularly the 1972 fins, when i was able to see every home game in the upper end zone!!)
. . . just wish all the last anniversaries weren't being celebrated in sick, poor, bad times
. . . but i can't just dump 'em for that good-looking alabama or that hottie, clemson, or . . .

so i guess it's time to sit in the ole rocker getting comfortably numb with all the other numb-nuts, needing to pass the bottle, the pipe, the needle, the pills, the chocolate, . . . especially the chocolate, since i don't like the taste of alcohol, can't stand coughing, have a fear of needles and choke on pills

alpine

funny thing is, i still think manny is gonna be the man one of these days
. . . but it'll take more time & patience than what he'll get here
. . . he's someone who thought he knew more than he did and is suffering the proverbial icarus-effect

. . . but eventually he's gonna sew those feathers back together; there's something deep down strong about him that will phoenix his way back from the ashes

. . . in time, he might even be the one for miami the 2nd time around
. . . unfortunately, like harry miller(?), i'm afraid i won't be around to enjoy it

one of you posted the brilliant question: "where does the program go now"?
. . . we can only hope that we're in the place where "there's no where else but up"
unfortunately, as 58str8 says in his excellent blog, faith & hope have gone AWOL

but to repeat what another brilliant poster said:
please leave the TNM, the bling, "the culture" talk, and all the rest outside "the building"
. . . and ONLY focus on taking some positive steps

roachcane77

AGREE 100%!

Go FULL SPREAD, and START Martell.

We have absolutely NOTHING TO LOSE!

Herbieibis

29 missed tackles. It's sad when 2 of your DT's have one tackle a piece. Our ends keep losing containment on the edge and our LB's can't mop up. Quarterman had 13 tacklesand missed 4 or 5. The secondary can't tackle.

CGNC

Roach, we were talking about that last night - time for Martell - I want to see what he can do. Since I didnot see the game - was Baxa the only one kicking field goals?

CGNC

LOL, I see Turner Davidson's was blocked.

BigWindyCane1

The CMD narrative has changed from winning now to a rebuild. SMH

What do you say to the seniors? Thanks, but you don’t matter? I don’t know when the coach is speaking the truth, or just making excuses because the program he is trying to build is falling apart.

The Canes are being outcoached and opposing coaches are laughing at us. The Canes are effectively a second rate program. We aren’t recruiting the right players, and more importantly, we aren’t developing the talent on this roster.

I look at the UFvUM game in week zero, and I see two teams that were once evenly matched going in opposite directions. One team is teaching and developing players at every opportunity and consistently out coaching the opponents, while the other is is selling players and the fan base a bunch of empty promises while they learn how to coach.

I have watched a lot of high school football this season in different parts of the state, and there are better coaches and kickers in abundance.

My team just lost at home to a winless GT team, and that speaks more than words. I will not listen to any press conferences any more because I don’t believe in what I am being sold.

alpine

CGNC - in case my comment to you above (6:09 a.m.) was über-abstruse, you posted at 1.30 a.m. the night after lol'ing my posting time and saying "nothing good happens after midnight"
. . . but i'm on european time ("alpine"; get it?) so i'm 6 hours ahead of you all

CGNC

Big Windy - I agree. Florida looks like they finally found their coach in Mullen, took them 3 tries but they did it.

OGV I can only hope that they leave Blake James on the tarmac in Pitt.

CGNC

alpine, LOL I know - I am not normally up that late

CGNC

Watching Richt on ACCNetwork is annoying - he is all abut yelling and jumping around about the "house" yet he looked like he was on xanax on our side line and never recruited the proper o-line players or special teams which affects our house right now. And we are where we are.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

solarcane

If Tate stayed at The Ohio State and worked out at slot receiver he would have been on a real contender.
He might even be on the field for some snaps every game.

I would rather lose by 50 to a ranked team then what happened yesterday. Not only did GT only have 1 win coming into the game, they have a new HC running a completely new offense...on Offense we see all the time and still got our asses handed to us......

i'm glad i went out yesterday and missed the game. Otherwise my wife would have had to buy me a new TV for my birthday which is today.... on second thought, that might have been the way to go.

Happy birthday Raize. I most likely will be down for Homecoming but my plans right now is to see Basketball and Volleyball. I rather Give my Money and Time To Teams that would appreciate it. From the blob:

"To put things in perspective for you the Yellow Jackets scored two points against powerhouse Temple, then lost to Duke and The Citadel in Atlanta."

You want even more perspective; Citadel went to overtime also, scored six more points, gave up four less than the over-promoted peter principle coordinator's team could manage in the 3/4 empty home stadium a month later.

Home team has won three in a row dating back the 2016 in the former Big East series with the Panthers so this time Pitt will be playing for revenge on homecoming. 1-1 off a straight up loss for the over-promoted peter principle coordinator, Narduzzi is 22-13, 62.8% winning percentage, against conference foes. They barely outscored Randy Shannon's defense at home as a two td underdog this season, UM isn't going to be two score favorites if they're favored at all.

The long season will continue to get longer in the second half of 2019 and I personally wouldn't start a bad QB who couldn't win a job anywhere on the road for his first career starting spot but what do I know? I only took GT and the plus 16 points on the line last week after all . . .

orange 'n green in the vein

Posted by: solarcane | October 20, 2019 at 01:54 PM

That ain't working.

Also I lied, over-promoted peter principle coordinator is a whole 2-1 off the straight up loss so far. So something is going to give here.

LOL. YUP... Except no chairbacks where I was!

roachcane77

Davidson kicked the first one... VERY weak, and low right. (34 yds.)
Baxa missed the second one... plenty of height and power, but missed wide right. (27 yds)
Davidson kicked the 3rd one TOTALLY low again, and got blocked by someone on their line, but there was no penetration, so it should have been WAY higher than it was, by the line of scrimmage. (25 yds)

Unbelievable... Davidson appears to only have an "average to weak" high school leg. Baxa has a much stronger leg... but apparently, just can't handle the pressure.

We SUCK... This game, (against a cellar dweller), should NOT have come down to 3 missed "chip shot" field goals. ALL 3 phases of the game are in shambles. COACHING is killing us...

CGNC

OGV, I would not start Martell against Pitt, but at some point I would like to see him play. can't be any wore than trotting Baxa out

CGNC

Thanks Roach, I was wondering what had happened there. Way to go CMR for ignoring the special teams portion of the program. CMD needs to fix that.

CGNC

Happy Birthday Raize!!!!

roachcane77

Pinckney was SORELY missed. Ragone is NOT ready for primetime, and Finley had a really poor game. They ran all over us... the number of missed tackles was incalculable...

Better play Linegard. He has 3 games he can still play in or watch at the end of Spring, he'll jump into the transfer portal along with Hightower and our washed out back up OH Linemen.
Manny can paint whatever picture he wants but a few of them coaches need to be sent packing.
Next is Pitt another so so Coastal opponent that Manny thinks is a tough team. We have sunk to FSU level where we less with our talent and actually have way more. We have settled in to mediocracy and that is what the ACC is aside from Clemson a bunch of 5-7 to 8-4 teams.
We already stink playing on the road and The Herb is wondering what new way are we planning to cough this game away. This is total embarrassment.

This is just bad football period. I do not think we have been this bad since pre HS. This is just bad bad football. There is no execution, no fundamentals, no pride, no effort, all apathy....by players and coaches. There is no talent on the field on the sideline in the AD office in the Board Room or in the Administration.....nobody cares and yet here we are....fans still caring why I do not know but we do. This is so bad, hard to express the level it has sunk to.

Happy Birthday Raiz.

hUh ?

did Many Diaz just say on Joe Rose WQAM ...

"We're 4 plays away from being 7-0."

hUh

Coach Diaz ... what about the 100 (10-20 plays per game) or so plays that aren't there over those 7 games that would give you a 2 score lead heading into the 4th. Quarter so you don't always have to rely on a kicker with vertigo at the end of games...

Lots of excuses, hope it gets better, but that will only happen if better players come into the program... Recruiting is the life blood and I'm afraid as this plays out, that too will be on life support.

Go Canes!!

This statement is 110% correct.

Your team puting itself in the position to need them against far inferior opponents is another question.

TheWordFromTheHerb

If we could tackle we would be 7-0.
If we could kick a chip shot FG, we would be 7-0.
If we would quit cough up plays of over 40 yds. We would be 7-0.
If Enos knew how to call plays inside the 10, we would be 7-0.
If we had one real QB, we would be 7-0.
If Garvin, Quarterman, Pinkney and Bandy played like they were supposed too, we would be 7-0.
If we could pass block we would be 7-0.
If we could stop trick plays we would be 7-0.
If we weren't getting out coached every game, we would be 7-0.
Should of, could of, would of!
It all smells like a pile of pure dog shyt.

We are not 7-0

VA Cane

Good points Herbie all valid...I always try to remember If is the middle word in lIFe.....we sure missed on the ifs.....

I cannot hang all this on Mannie....he was not prepared to be the HC.....lests face it we were a blip on the radar from 1980 to 2001.....we have faded in back in to obscurity and may never return. All the big schools have had great years faded and returned in the past....but the playing field is so different now Bama OSU OK LSU have had tough times but come back....NB disappeared whew we did and are not back....MI is not really back, We are gone ....maybe never back....Clemson is the new U.....they won years ago....were nobody really....now the have risen.

The issue is the search....from Clappy, Randy, AlPa, CMR to CMD.....nobody looked for a real coach to get us at the level we need to bhe....we missed some good ones because after 2003 it went in the ditch...nobody wants to come here due to the level of failure...Hope and Change has become Despair and Stagnation!!!

It would be tough to be worse, to be fair. If you dig up the close up before the third missed field goal of him on the sideline, it really looks to me like Baxa has a substance abuse problem, heavy dark bags under the eyes at a noon kickoff game? At his age that's either a drinking issue or an opiate addiction issue or a combination of the two. Would explain his shaky inability to not suck completely.

Posted by: UMike | October 21, 2019 at 11:05 AM

1. If cows had wings they could fly. Even IF we were 7-0 it would not change anything about the problems on this team and with the coaching staff. Sure, it would make it easier to live with the issues at 7-0, but it wouldn't change a thing about how the fans feel about things right now.

Case in point: We make the late FG against GT and win a squeaker. Makes you feel a little better but would not erase the pure stench that Miami played like during the entire game. Especially against a team that had played as poorly as GT has against supposedly inferior opponents.

"Just Win Baby" sounds like an acceptable plan against #10 UF or #20 ranked UVA but not against a horrible GT team. The fact that we can't even dominate GT is all you need to know about how bad things are right now.

2. OK, sounds good. Please give us some hope again? LOL
