First sadly we aint!!!

roachcane77

But alas, it was not to be as the once stoudt UM defense could not muster one more stop and let VT drive right down the field and score the winning TD for the final score of 42-35.
The game, and Miami's 2019 season, basically ended at the same time.

Yup...

Well Said Soupster!

Basura

Between Baxa, the DBs, and the OL, it’s too much to overcome.

God Baxa is putrid. How can they keep him on the team? I guess let him continue with kickoff duty, but you can’t trot him out there when there is even 1 point on the line.

BigWindyCane

Great post! Love the photos!

BigWindyCane

If I am not mistaken, CMD has said that no starting position is guaranteed and every player is in open competition at all times.

So what about QB? CMD’s roster decisions at OL, DL, Safety, Lingard, WR (along with his coaching and staff decisions quite frankly) are highly questionable at best.

The season is ova!
Although we knew that after the NC game, didn't we?

LOL! I figured that out after watching JW 15 against Florida.

CGNC

Great blog article and photos!!!!

FWIW I did see Lingard dressed and on the sideline with a brace or wrap on his knee. He does not need to go out there behind that Oline and land in the ER.

Nemo - I had a pretty good idea this season had a potential to be a wash after the NC game. Now I know.

SMU down 27 to 7 comes back, wins and stays undefeated.

College football is fun to watch in spite of Miami.

solarcane

Big Windy,
You are right J4 is a completely different player when Kosi is on the field.
He still has a tendency to go down rather than risk injury, but why get hurt for this team?

OL coach needs to be fired yesterday...... watching the game, i can count on 2 hands how many times someone didn't block a single person....on one play, 2 lineman were side by side and didn't block anyone.....pathetic.

Joe Montana could be our Q and he would get trashed behind this line

solarcane

But Diaz wasn't watching

"Say what you want about the 2018 season for Perry, but the fact that he has matured, stayed out of trouble, and didn’t pout when he lost the job, speaks volumes about his character. Perry came on in relief of an ineffective Jarren Williamsto go 28-47 for 422 yards and 4 touchdown throws. He was blitzed and battered by Virginia Tech’s defense, but gave Miami a chance to win the game. There were moments where he made bad decisions and was bailed out by penalty, but all in all a very encouraging performance by Perry."

raizecane

hey.....who is in possession of that banner anyway? I dont think I ever signed it....

orange 'n green in the vein

Great blob article, has all the spice you want from a dull season on the football field. (Also, it was five consecutive turnovers end drives to start the game when you add in the fumble after the QB change, but who's counting again?) Hope it keeps up the spicy-hot seasoning while the football team circles the drain after losing to the cellar dwellers of the ACC flushes the season and the upperclassmen coast to protect their draft status against injury peril at the cost of performance.

Plus, that's my favorite picture of me and Noel, so I'm skimming the barrel bottom for all the positives possible. It only kind of helps I got in on VT at plus 12 points on the line for better than even odds . . .

I do what I can.

Herbieibis

Did u Eva notice, once we turn the ball over in our territory how easy it is for the other team to score a TD, not hold to a FG but we cough up a TD. Defense like butta once we turn it over.
We blitz when we don't need to and when we need to they don't. These blitzes are not disguised very well because it's taking a year to get to the QB. No push up the middle and to many blitzes are to wide. Nobody on defense is playing great, including Garvin, Shaq and Pink.
They need to stop all that shyt talking and make some plays.
Secondary is green but they should of played those guys more last year and they would of been seasoned more.
Looks to The Herb that Manny plays favorites. They may be hustlers but don't have the talent but he plays them anyway.
Perry takes to many chances. U could see that when we had 4 downs at the 5. Four forced throws in a row. Better arm but not smart. To me another Baxa.
We are in trouble. These is no blue print that cruit wants to follow.
Talent wins out. Look what OSU u did to MSU. SParties top defense shredded. OSU just plain. Out talented them. Not saying the teams are great talent wise, we have been out coached. We have to many C rated players. When u have depth of talent there is a true dog fight. Here it's a C-rated player going against a C in most cases. Manny's year on auditions suck. This is not going to inspire any talent to want to play here looking unorganized. Maybe if Manny would use 100 watt bulbs instead of 60 watts the lights would stay on longer. To many selfish dumb players.

Soupster, CGNC I tagged Y'all on Twitter to Big Of Rant on our Canes and Manny. Good Gawd!

BigWindyCane

The Canes OL is horrible. I see Nelson and Clark played a little better, but the OL still gave up 5 sacks. Perry moves around in the pocket a lot better than Jarren, or this would be another 10 sack performance. Nelson and Clark are being physically overwhelmed, and even the veterans Donaldson, Scaife and Gaynor are having subpar seasons. I find it hard to believe that someone on that bench couldn’t play better, or at least not get physically dominated. Frankly, they really don’t look like FBS OLs, and clearly don’t play like it.

I try not to criticize the players and coaches too much for fear of scaring recruits away. Now, I simply have to call it the way everyone sees it. There is no coaching, game-planning or player development going on in Coral Gables. This team will be lucky (and I mean very lucky) to make a bowl this season.

Herbieibis

Problem with us, the Clarke's and Nelson's of the world should be redshirting and not be subjected to this kind of abuse. Border line criminal what Manny is doing to these kids. Not highly recruited by alot of power 5's to boot. Showing all the cruits that u will play freshmen is great but only if they are Physically ready and mature enough, which obviously ours are not. Nelson a 2 star cruit and Clarke a 3. Learning on the job is a bit h at DA U. Who even starts an Oh tackle at 285 lbs, except maybe Jawja Tech when they ran the flexbone?

VA Cane

I learned long ago, to be successful, execute plays and concepts, and win, you have to control the lines of scrimmage, be smart by not committing stupid penalties, not turn the ball over, play flawless special teams, and execute the fundamentals of the game on both sides of the ball and want it enough to die for it!......players must do it, and coaches must coach it.

If you do not, you will fail, lose, and people will see it and take their talent where it is being done.

I think too many people on here believe we have elite talent. We do not and have not had it; the last really great players with unreal talent were 2000 2001 and 2002. The talent level here has been way over rated; there have been good players at times...never an elite player since then. Oh I forgot MNW 2007 class was the greatest haul of all time by Onion...LOL!! I think this is due to coaching; there have been no great coaches since the great years.
Great coaching makes average players good, and good players elite....if both want, feel, learn, and will kill to get it!!! You either hit hurt and hate on the filed...or lose...

We have not done any of this on a regular basis since 2002 team....who did get rooked in their swan song game.
Its fact.....there has not been a good team here in a long time;anybody arguing 2016 and 2017 were Top 20 teams is delusional...no psychotic....you have lost touch with reality for sure.
I am very disappointed, but will continue to root for our guys....but I see a change coming if it continues to spiral downward.....can it do so....

VA - I said the same thing - ask TSully how he responded

Pittiful attempt at coaching and playing football

Herbieibis

Gotcha VA,
SO. FLO. talent seems to be a little Overated. A good coach takes something that doesn't seem that good and makes it into something. We seem take something that is good and make into nothing.
Do we have a young team, yes in a lot of areas but stop with the excuses and using and mentioning of youth. The Coaches can't figure out what to do with the talent they have, that's their stupidity. We have enough talent to put points on the board, especially in this sorry azz conference, where 80 of the teams are mediocre at best. The Coaches got to stop effi g up what talent we do have and start playing to there strengths. Put the play makers on the field. Quit force feeding them an offense that they can't flourish in. Get the Pope's, Linegard and a few others on the field and use them to your advantage. Quit doing less with more. In this conference only Clemson and FSU has more overall talent.

86Cane

I think too many people on here believe we have elite talent. We do not and have not had it; the last really great players with unreal talent were 2000 2001 and 2002. The talent level here has been way over rated; there have been good players at times...never an elite player since then.

Posted by: VA Cane | October 06, 2019 at 02:55 PM

You keep shorting the talent by 2 years. We still had talent until 2004. We had some talent after that but it was mostly wasted or squandered by bad coaches. That and the sun was in our eyes.

I don't have time to look now but can someone, and by someone I mean TonyCane, please list any elite players or at least all NFL draft picks in the first five rounds who may have stuck from 2004-2018 please.

86Cane

I do remember when Aldarius Johnson was going to be the next Michael Irvin and was Ray Ray Armstrong going to be the next Sean Taylor. How'd that turn out? Not so good!

VA Cane

Thats what I am saying 86.....you get good and average players in here....but they never get to the elite level....you got to coach young kids to reach the next level.....yes we have some good NFL players.....but other than Frank Gore....are they rolling off yer lips? Greg Olsen yes! whyo else has really made it? You got to coach these players up!!!!

VA Cane

The kids are to blame for some of it...the coaching is to blame for most of it!!!! Clappy, Onion, AlPa, CMR, CMD.....just not getting it done.
yea 2004 was ok.....but all this talent everybody claims is here is not winning.....17 years since a Title? not that much talent and no coaching!!!!!

VA Cane

and why in gods name would you want to come to UM?
Beaches, girls, pr5o stadium, weather, classes....hell no!!!
I want to play for 4 titles in 4 years if I can or if I stay!!!!
Sadly you cannot even play for a conference title here!!!!....so you can go to a big team...but come here to dust old trophys off and play in the shadow of greatness.....and never come close to living it? NEVER!!!!!

CMD has been so bad, I wish we had Shannon, Golden or Richt right now.

My prediction after this 0-2 and 2-3 (soon to be 2-4) start, is I only see wins against GT and FIU, so that is a 4 win season, after so many (non-Canes fans) picked the Canes to win the Coastal.

Posted by: BigWindyCane | October 06, 2019 at 05:06 PM

When I saw the look on CMD's face at the end of the game, it reminded me of the same stunned, sullen look on Al Golden's face after Clemson beat us 58 - 0. After denial, anger, bargaining (e.g., "I just want a few more years to change the culture", etc.) and then the fourth stage, depression, Golden was facing the FINAL STAGE of the death of an otherwise promising coaching career: ACCEPTANCE.
And I saw that same look on CMD's face Saturdat night - the look of acceptance . . . of the fact that our team is horrible, and that, he just isn't good enough to be a successful head coach of a major college football program.
Yes, the head coaching job at Miami can be a career killer. After the Clemson game, Al Golden knew it. I could see it in his face! And I saw that same look on CMD's face too after we lost to VaTech Saturday night. It wasn't the look of DENIAL or ANGER. Worse yet, it was the look of lost hope and of ACCEPTANCE.

AeroCane

This is VERY deep and well written.

I may have to borrow it for a feature article.

solarcane

VA,nemo good posts!

I think over the years "elite player"
has diluted down to describe what we used to call very good players.

Sean Taylor, Dan Morgan, Deven Hester were elite players, they could change the outcome of a game by their shear will to win.

Guys that played at an A+ level every single game for a career were elite.
Bret Romberg comes to mind as an example.

The Jacory Harris, Duke Johnson level of players were very good, but were called elite, because our perception of the best has been watered down with the sub par program at Miami.

To me I don't see an elite player on the team. Brevin Jordan is a very good tight end and could be elite one day but not yet.

High school elite doesn't always translate to college super star.

Florida high school elite isn't any better than Texas,California,or Georgia elite either no matter how you try and spin it.

Kat Dayco

I hate that I was right that Manny was a bad hire. He was part of a staff that was not successful. Why continue that culture of failure? I though getting Richt was the right move because it showed UM was serious about have a top tier program. He didn’t pan out, that happens. But they should’ve brought in another big time coach.

solarcane

Geez
We dropped from a very respectable Manny Diaz coached #48 in the country last week to a mildly alarming #52 this week.
This could spell the end to a Coastal championship run if we don't recognize who our best players are and install the culture changing process soon.

A scary place to be. I really hate to admit it, but I felt the same thing.

Last in the country in penalties, sacks and third down conversions. This is a poorly prepared team

BigWindyCane

Looking at Jacoby Brisset, I am reminded that he left the University of Florida and wanted to transfer to Miami, our coaches declined. Now, the Canes don’t have any NFL QBs and Brisset is flourishing in the NFL.

It’s decisions like these that have plagued the Canes for years.

Herbieibis

According to Bud Foster he knew Jarren didn't have the arm strength and felt they could jump and undercut routes. Good coaches see a weakness and attacks it. We k ow our weaknesses and won't change. Might as well hand them our playbook, never mind our opponents know it better than we do.

BigWindyCane

ESPN’s Jorge Sedano has come out and said that the Canes are a “poorly coached” team.

BigWindyCane

Posted by: Herbieibis | October 06, 2019 at 11:24 PM

Yep. It’s nothing new or ingenious. It’s just a typical ACC defensive coordinator going his job. And other ACC opponents will take out that same VT Bud Foster game plan and reuse it over and over. They will stack the box and running the ball consistently will also be tough.

The Canes will struggle on offense with Jarren, and it will get worse as the season progresses

LMAO!
This is the reason I come here

solarcane

The case for a conspiracy theory.

Remember that magical euphoric feeling you got from being in the Orange Bowl?
How many times did you say "This is unreal."

What if it was?
How do you explain a mediocre team with a losing history rising up and dominating college football for twenty years then just as quickly disappearing into the depths of the doomed?

How many Alabamas,Penn States or Ohio States have been great, lost everything then rebuilt in less than a decade to dominate their conference?

Why doesn't Miami rejuvenate their program and rise up?

I'll tell you why,
Because a pre determined number of us Cane fans of every age and race were subjected to a massive delusional fanbase experiment carried out from 1982 to 2002.

Some as yet unknown organization dumped hallucinogenic gas into the Orange Bowl during games that both excited and hypnotized us into believing we were unstoppable.
Why do you really think a Blimp hovered over the Orange Bowl every game?

Why would a hamburger joint want you to eat one of their greasy burgers before you went in the stadium? Because they had doctored it with mushrooms to manipulate your reasoning.
Starting to become a little more clear isn't it?

Some say Schnell,Johnson,Ericson and Davis were just high paid actors with 5 year contracts placed on the imaginary sideline while a hologram played out on the field.

Would any rational person stand in line to pee beside fifty people at a urine stained gutter? Of course not.

Would any clear thinking person rant about how fantastic that dilapidated creaking moldy, solar oven of a stadium was?

I remember sitting in the end zone looking at the two guys sitting next to me wearing Jack o lantern pumpkin helmets and not thinking it a bit strange. That is how deep into the spell I had spiraled.

I am just saying wake up before we are playing for our sixth dodgeball national championship.

The views expressed are not necessarily those of the management but believe me, he knows I know he knows.

Hide the women and children? But it's only the midpoint of the season! Where's GD with the Fake Lames talking points? Wait, don't bother. If there's none to parrot, that means the other leg's been capped and the healing can begin.

In 2019 Butch Davis has the same record coming off a shutout, of the worst team in all of the FBS, as the over-promoted-peter-principle-coordinator does Noel! How's that for living in the present?

LOL Oh Great GT at Miami Set For High Noon on Saturday October 19th. For those not going to the Game it will be on the ACC Network.

I don’t blame Golden necessarily on the Jacoby Brissett decision. We went all in on him in 2011, thought we had him, and lost out to Florida. Why take him 2 years later?

Sounds about right -- TNM with 2-3 record to start to the season? The worst for a new coach going back decades. I hope CMD proves me wrong and beats UVA, but so far, it doesn't look good. At least he is going to coach the defense himself. That is a start. Forget recruiting because if this thing doesn't get turned around soon, the Canes will see a lot of decommits within the next couple of weeks.
