Please explain in bullet points.

1. His team constantly underperforms.
2. His team looks unmotivated.
3. He fails to make personnel changes when needed.
4. He fails to make adjustments when needed.
5. He is losing recruits by the dozen.
6. His teams start flat most games.
7. He promoted a friend (Patke) to Special Teams Coach with no experience whatsoever.
8. His choice for DC has not paid dividends.
9. His OC is still questionable even after the Louisville game with the shyte show against FIU.

Joe

How possible would it be for Miami to become a public school and increase enrollment so we can get some of the state funding to help build up the program. all the other state school get state funding or grants to build new facilities, etc.

Elliott

Any word on anyone being fired?

Go Canes!!

Posted by: Joe | November 24, 2019 at 11:26 PM

It ain't the facilities or the money, it's the leadership.

Go Canes!!

58-0 to Clemson was horrible. The last night in the OB vs Virginia was atrocious.

But neither of those low points hold a candle to last night.

There is no coming back from that for this staff and administration.

Heads have to roll after this one. There is no other way to look at it.

damn shame about the state of affairs with the team, but I must commend you on your writing the last half dozen articles or so, top shelf pal

Solar This was a very disappointing tournament. I will revise my statement and say they will have to play much better to get to the tournament but as of now they would be a bubble team. But we got to pick it up.

Please explain in bullet points.

1. His team constantly underperforms.
- only vs. the worst competition; no, i'm NOT happy about that
2. His team looks unmotivated.
- see above
3. He fails to make personnel changes when needed.
- ima keep an eye on this; i'm not into firing in the middle of the season, unless it's dno type incompetence ... and no, i don't see the CONTINUED incompetence in any area ... but it's true that to this point, there has NOT been continued progress
4. He fails to make adjustments when needed.
- hmmm, disagree somewhat on this one; but not enough to argue
5. He is losing recruits by the dozen.
- it could be a major shyt-cruit year and that will not make me happy; but we'll see
6. His teams start flat most games.
- see point 1
7. He promoted a friend (Patke) to Special Teams Coach with no experience whatsoever.
- agree, this sukks; needs DEFINITE off-season change
8. His choice for DC has not paid dividends.
- agree, and at this point, i would not want the DC back
9. His OC is still questionable even after the Louisville game with the shyte show against FIU.
- agree, i thought enos would bring MUCH more to the table as OC; . . . can't decide if i want him canned in the off-season, or if i'd like to see if he can make changes . . . either way, i'm okay
Posted by: 58 Straight | November 24, 2019 at 11:17 PM

- bullet points; check

- read good blog; check

- say again, "i think manny will SOMEDAY be the man" . . . i wish the day was august 2019 but it unfortunately wasn't . . . i do think this guy is gonna "phoenix" it (the mythic bird; not the actor) . . . and i hope it's in 2 years and not 5

- did a good job bringing in a QB coach and a better conditioning coach and (imo) a better OL coach
. . . unfortunately, the QB coach is not doing a good job as play caller, this year
. . . and he needs more of a manny on defense
. . . and someone for special teams
. . . and more of a "heavyweight" as DC

alpine

lol: it's too early . . .
"continuous progress" instead of "continued"

2 of the last 3 lines should have been combined 'cause i'm talking about the DC in both

Dude on a Pale Horse

Well, well, well... this time I didnt even have to get off the pale horse. Another end of a regime. I'd tell you who we should have hired again, but no one is listening, no one cares. The good times are really over for good.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Time for CMD to put the Butch-lovers out to pasture, and show Canes fans that he was a better choice to lead the Canes back to college football relevance.

I like Soup’s prediction— Canes win, 340 to 13!

Butch was the right answer 3 times in a row.

alpine

- dude, you should post more, even if only to do "i told you so's"

- i'll also say, that age plays a factor for me . . . during stupid plays/horrible losses/etc., i'm as good a sailor as the next fan
. . . but as the weekend fades, the emotional intensity goes quickly down; i can't remember if that was true when i was younger

- regarding manny, part of me is glad i still believe in him, 'cause he's staying for at least one more year . . .

- which brings me to my last point: if there has to be GT, NC, FIU losses in his resumè, i'm glad it happened this year . . . it shows hi that something fundamental is wrong and he either gets on it before next season starts; getting the right kinds of feedback from good football minds, or he doesn't, in which case i doubt we'll see him for a 3rd year

alpine

regarding larranaga, i hope he stays a little while longer, because:

- he will not let the program totally fade away, like it was before (the current dip is due entirely to ncaa assholes (1) jumping on dewan's nuts and (2) making coach L lose 2 years of recruiting)

- i don't see miami embracing the basketball label enough that we would bring in someone really good, due to salary
. . . then it's a crap shoot of "up n comers", who either on't get it done or do good but immediately jump to a stronger basketball school = rinse & repeat
. . . coach L is old enough that he will not do any more jumping and he's still got some years in his tank

AeroCane

Manny sucks and so do his coaches!
Has his incompetent ass been fired yet?

No excuses - fire him and the entire staff!
Now!
Not tomorrow!

And this bs about not firing within season is BS!

He Should of been fired after VT; if not then, then after GT! Now we’ve waited too long

AeroCane

Here’s a huge part of the problem and manny’s guy!
Could you imagine dan Morgan, Ray Lewis, Ed reed, etc saying the below

“The only thing that matters is the guys inside that locker room in there,’’ UM linebacker Shaq Quarterman, who finished with a game-high 12 tackles, said after the loss. “And that’s the only thing I honestly care about. Finish out this year with my guys and putting a close to my career here at Miami is the most important thing to me at this point.

Last thing
How can the board not fire Blake James?
He hired richt the minute he was fired by uga (best decision they made) (could of hired a number of qualified candidates, including butch, Mario, etc) and then hired manny (no HC experience) without even interviewing Mario, etc

If that’s not incompetence and lazy then bears don’t sheet in the woods!

daytonacane

3 turnovers
1-10 third down conversions
0-2 on fourth and short

Didn’t matter who played. It was the same as v-tech and g-tech and CMU and UNC.

Dynamic qb play fixes this. Just don’t think Williams is that dude. When the play breaks down he can not improvise. Instead he panicks and either throws it up for grabs or gets sacked.

Recruiting matters but not as much as having a competent staff coaching them up and making them better players than they were in high school.

Poor Qb play and poor player development have been the 15 year problem now:

Sunday must have been a great day to be Butch Davis. The guy can rightly claim to be king of Miami. Sit back. Smoke a stogie, Sip a little gin and say I am the conqueror. The enemy has been vanquished and I am king of the town.

Gotta wonder if Manny can even hold his head up. As far as I'm concerned, his name is inscribed permanently on the back of the woodshed.

raizecane

The university should give CMR his 1 million dollar donation for the IPF back. Clearly it has not helped this team in any way despite being able to practice more.

Also, I agree Blake James needs to be fired. His hires have been lazy at best. I had friends over Saturday night and I thanked them the next day because I may have watched 10 minutes of the game which was 9 minutes too long.

If people dont lose their jobs after next week, i strongly suggest you season ticket holders do a class action based on all the BS you were told in order to renew ticket sales......

nemo2002

I heard Manolito on the Joe Rose show this morning.
He blamed the FIU loss on things like the team "walk through" at the hotel.

No, I'm not making this up!

For better or worse we're probably stuck with him for another couple of years - because UM doesn't have big bucks to replace him yet; and besides the AD won't (ever) concede that he made (another) bad hire.

I'm really depressed. I better take my meds.

RE-POST: Which was the worst loss?

1979: FAMU beats Howard Schnellenberger's first Miami team, 16-13, in the Orange Bowl.

2019: FIU beats Manny Diaz's first Miami team, 30-24, in Marlins Park (site of the old Orange Bowl).

nemo2002

It wouldn't surprise me if our genius AD eventually hires Willie Taggart to replace CMD.

Its interesting that we have to go back 4 decades and 5 championships to find a comparable loss. I want to believe that CMD can turn things around like Schnelly did, but I am not convinced.

From attending local high school games, I had formed the opinion that the Canes had momentum with the three straight wins, but also things were hanging in the balance with the local recruits due to poor performance on the field. IMHO, this loss was particularly devastating to CMD's long-term recruiting goals.

IMHO, the Canes will not be able to attract high-end 4-5 star recruits from South Florida until they can produce better results on the field. Those opportunities have been lost this season. The Canes will have to re-tune and re-focus their recruiting efforts, and place more of an emphasis on qualitative evaluations. In the mind of high-end recruits who want to make it to the NFL, the flashy recruiting pitches are over -- this is business.

There is a lot of 3-4 star gems in South Florida to fill the Canes roster, but the Canes have not been good at consistently evaluating them. The Canes will also need to continue to expand beyond South Florida into other areas where more 3-4 star gems can be found. The Canes coaches will need to focus on evaluations and finding three-star diamonds like Rousseau, Garvin and Harvey.

Building this program back will have to start from scratch. This is what happens when you pronounce yourself as #TNM, attract transfers, then fail to deliver on the field. Now, the credibility of the program and the coaches is very shaky.

mi@

Good read soup. We are catching up to FIU in the 4q and we needed the defense to step up and keep them from scoring. What do we get? A huge mistake by a dback who left the receiver wide open in the end zone. Then we score again and need the d to step up but instead they don't hold in the trenches and their dback scampers 60 yards for the back breaker. Not to mention the whole game Williams stared down his primary receivers who were obviously double covered. Not only is the team sleepwalking through the game but they make stupid mistakes. They shoot themselves in the foot. Your wondering if the players want to lose cause they don't like the coaches. We lose games we needed a to make a few plays to win. We have the talent to win all our games. We Canes know the next man who steps up understands his a assignment. We need better coaches. For 30 yrs the Canes had been in the hunt for championships. We did not make these kinds of mistakes.

When you read a comment by the slurp squad I'd say you're already skimming the bottom of the blob barrel, but fair enough I suppose, amazingly convenient they take until the season has just about vanished down the drain pipe in circular fashion before they 'get it' though...

"Posted by: nemo2002 | November 25, 2019 at 09:17 AM"

Peter principle over promoted coordinator was the son of the mayor of Miami though, did you know that? Huh? Did you? Did you know?

"Posted by: raizecane | November 25, 2019 at 08:35 AM"

Staying home and letting coach Butch Davis have his finest day in the sun of his career with his team instead and losing money laying the points on the 'road' was the smartest decision I made this season. Luckily I took the over and Enos was able to hurry up a garbage TD to cash something in on the entire fiasco or else I'd be actually mad this week?

"Butch was the right answer 3 times in a row.

Moronic bots and over-promoted peter principle ticket distributor pretending they're an actual AD can't swallow their ego and pay a real football coach what he's worth, former were born sliding into home and think they hit an inside the park homer after all, later is simply too dumb to know what they don't understand but keep the paychecks going as long as they let the hand up their ass move their lips while they hand out the talking points for distribution to the usual gang of slurpers. Of course if GD is down to no talking points, and that's not the case here as another puppet will just take the stage with the talking points because that's how a sid-tard (t)rolls, the hand might have been removed and that means it's, actually, finally, time to cull.

If justice was served we should be forced to play in the Miami Mayors Sons bowl again at Marlins. But switch coaches who can prepare the teams in the holiday season. I will guarantee that Butch's Canes would blow out Manny's FIU.

Think about this for a second

If Richt had all daughters
We would be playing Clemson.

Richt would have hired an OC by now,
We would be running a spread offense with kids that played spread in high school.
Mannys defense would be around 5th in the nation.

Clemson would only beat us by 20 points and we would still be thrilled to have a fantastic season.

There are Pee Wee Herman's in competitive spirit with a lot of talent. Are we getting Bama rejects?. Maybe a 2 3 star with toughness matters
Butch was not as motivated against FAU as he was against the U.

My experience is there are players that do not need much motivating.

HerbieIbis

No use to keep moaning and groaning, the season was over when we lost to Low life Ga. Tech. Losing to FIU was just icing on the cake.
As ugly as this season has been sitting here at 6-5, we could easily be an ugly 11-0.
The Herb and the rest of u guys would still be bitching. Slurping, burping and chirping, it don't change the fact that Manny is going to be here. Does the dude need to make changes to his staff, YES!
Patke needs to go. Bring Carlos Huerta back to teach FG kicking 101. Baker is just Manny's puppet. Manny needs to be his own DEE coordinator. Enos as a play caller is either good or he stinks, there is no middle ground or consistency in his calls. As I have stated before what good is RPO, if the QB is not going to run some. Got to keep the Dee honest. Use the dam fullback to get a lousy yard.
Our Overated WR seem to disappear at the most needed times. Thomas and Pope are supposed to top shelf and between them they might have 30 receptions. Our OH line limits what we can do anyway, so take advantage at what they can offer by getting the ball out quick and running a hurry up offense. Pro set they stink. We have no business trying to be multiple on offense with this line, not until we get better caliber players.
Martel could be used in the RPO but those idiots would have him run only and that wouldn't work. The dummy down offense we tend to stick with only makes us predictable. Williams ain't going to run, hell he'll take a sack first.
