I ain't gonna lie. This season has been a nightmare.
The University of Miami football team is one of the worst teams in college football from every aspect of statistical evaluation and critical analysis.
There I said it. And you know that it is true so I am not taking it back.
But don't believe me look at our record and the statistics.
Miami got shut out in their bowl game. After weeks to prepare.
There is no sugar coating it or saying that maybe it is debateable.
There is no argument that another year or two will get it done.
We absolutely suck. And you know it so there it is as a final statement.
The Athletic Director who hired Manny Diaz MUST be fired.
Manny Diaz MUST be fired.
Anything less than that will not be acceptable.
Ain't gonna lie, this failure has to stop and it has to stop now!
Dam, now I'm first.

Manny and his culture speeches. I'd been so pissed from being embarrassed, probably dropped some off bombs.
Can't score a point against a bunch of 2 and 3 star players. Manny should just resign and save himself any further embarrassment. Enos was the only coach on the team with any head coaching experience and the only one on staff that could run an offense. Couldn't fire his no play calling azz if we had wanted too. That's on Manny. I don't know one offensive coach you can keep. Our WR's haven't gotten any better. Osborne was already good when we got him but none of the underclassmen are world beaters. Our RB'S are ok at best. DJ plays hard. Our TE's are good but they can even be better. The real horror story is our QB'S and AWfensive linemen. Geeze they SUCK! I don't know how you fix diarrhea.
Posted by: HerbieIbis | December 26, 2019 at 10:54 PM
Butch exposed what was boiling up on the offense. The offensive players did not like Dan. The players quit after the fiu lost.
Posted by: mi@ | December 26, 2019 at 10:55 PM
While of course it can get worse (see 2017 Baylor), I have to think that this is likely rock bottom. There will be a new OC. Regardless of scheme, the offensive line will have had another year of strength and conditioning. And someone will emerge at QB...perhaps even Van Dyke or Machoda. Miami won’t be 15-0 next year, but will be better than this. New OC that is forward thinking and closer to state of the art than the George W Bush administration is key.
Thank goodness for Early Signing Day. Can you imagine trying to recruit now off of a three game losing streak to La Tech, FIU, and Duke?
Posted by: TonyCane | December 26, 2019 at 11:07 PM
OLine is dreadful. The reality is they would probably be serviceable Ivy League OLinemen but unfortunately none of them are smart enough to remain academically eligible there so they play for the U instead. What makes this worse is.... wait for it..... they have backups who are WORSE than they are. There are no upper class men to unseat these clowns. Best case is if we are starting 5 new linemen next year, that’s the only way this team can get any better. Next year will be just as bad as this one — I realize a new OC could help a lot but who wants to inherit this sewage runoff and ruin their own career? Our next OC effectively has to be even worse than Enos by definition —he will know what he is getting into and anyone with accepts the job you really have to question their judgment just as we Demi’s with Enos on 3rd down.

Why is anyone shocked about this game? We’ve sucked all year. We sucked last year. We’ve sucked the last 10:years. We’ve sucked since ‘03. The only time our team has been good is through our rose colored optimism before each season and YouTube clips from back in the day.
Blake James and the entire coaching stuff needs to be fired and the program rebuilt from scratch with a proven big time coach.

I want to go on the record that I told GoCanes (a couple of hours before kickoff) that Miami would lose by 10-14 points.

CGNC...I do see your valid point...lots of frustration from the D. However....you may feel the resentment and your D guys may feel it too....but you cannot be soft and blubber about just wanna be with my teammates. You gonna be with them....and instead of boo hooing you should be mad as hell....all of you should be mad as hell...and all of you as individuals and players need to HATE LOSING! Yes you will lose in sports and life...but blubbering like a brook is the easy soft cozy pc snowflake little darling way to take it! Boo hooing about my teammates is what a baby does...waaaahhh. If they dont hate losing they aint my teammates.A great football player takes it personal and gets others to HATE LOSING and find victory. Some may hate Tebow...I love that speech....that man hated losing and lead others to a NC by example...Shaq is crying in the corner with his weak as water crybaby teammates one word fits the program...I am saying it soft apathetical crying lay down LOSERS...

I h was born a cane. Grandad house was walking distance from the ob. I've been to um games when they wore the gold helmets. I saw Bama when the bear comes to town for the ob game. I know what it was like to see a team who was in the small.print of the Herald because no one took them seriously. Shoot I had a big spread in the Herald as a high school qb because the canes were losers. I was in the ob in 83. I know it can be done with the right coach.

Much needed changes appear to be on the way. Obviously Enos is gone. Would be shocked if Barry and Rumph, after another whiff recruiting year don't join him.
Defense has been good to decent in most games. Certainly good enough for us to have won 8-9 games minimum so I don't know what else will happen there.
Manny better hit on his new OC and just as importantly his next OL coach or he won't make it to the end of year two.
I only pray this is rock bottom.

I would agree on the D...but even they are suspect...times teams could run, general tackling especially secondary,...missed coverages...and guys running wide open at times...overall not bad...but tighten up the fundamentals. QB partially bad due to line...but still shitty. Williams has regressed, Perry about the same...and Tate...in short stint...showed he cannot pass..but nice dance/juke moves...NOT!...why osu said bye all 3 not a full qb between them. OL is horrible worst ever I think....ST disaster..cannot make fg or xp...and get rid of tbe tattoed Aussie rugby or whatever guy...we are really below average...6-7 like Parcells said you are what your records says....we are bad. Fire AD CMDPa all of em. Clean the BOT out...burn their meeting room....even Vilma and Bernie...they are part of it too for allowing such BS to take the field.

I'm telling you, watching the CMD post game interview was as painful if not worse than watching the game itself. I believe he uses the same answers over and over and over. from game to game
Posted by: raizecane | December 27, 2019 at 09:08 AM
Raize,
I thought the same thing.
He uses all the overworked coach speak crap in every interview.
When Ed O. or Dabo speak they talk like men that grew not spinning things and making excuses.
Another thing that disturbs me is how
confused Manny looks on the sideline as a head coach. He was on fire as a DC and had everybody ready to play.

CMR...best true coach of the lotto us going in right direction with empanadas and bong hits...AlPa..was bad...for long period of time...CMD...bad in 13 games....and makes excuses like AlP and CMD worse ever a tie! Fire BOT, AD, Manny all coaches...tell players either go NFL or portal....start over...take awhile...the NCAA did not have to shut us down...they got their wish...we gave ourselves the death penalty the way we ran program, after January 2003....I hate the teams since then...they all have been bad.

1. Score more than zero points.
2. Score more points than the opposing team.
3. Win games you ought to win.
4. Resign.

I like the candidates, Fedora, Rich Rod and Yost, but I lean more toward Fedora and Rich Rod because of their HC experiences. It’s clear to me that CMD is in over his head as a HC, and really lacks the understanding, experience and (I am afraid) the ability to lead this program back without a lot of help. CMD needs another experienced coach in the room to teach him what to look for and how to manage his players.
I like Yost’s scheme, but does he have the experience and savvy to stand up to idiotic suggestions and intrusions by CMD and prevent CMD from ruining player selection and development on offense?
Roster management, player rotations and player development has been very very subpar, and that falls on the HC. Jimmy or Butch wouldn’t allow this crap. For example, there was really no excuse for CMD not playing Lingard during the season and in the bowl game. In addition, Frierson gets one play, and he makes a great play while the starter Finley was consistently abused on the run and in coverage. Brooks got his first start, and led the team in tackles. Jarren was obviously ineffective, yet you keep him in until it is obvious that he couldn’t move thee team
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | December 27, 2019 at 10:32 AM
If Jalen Rivers or a graduate doesn’t start at OT next season, then that season is lost. Aside from poor QB play, Clark and Nelson really killed our chances to be effective on offense this season. They really shouldn’t have seen the field this season. I have seen Rivers play, and he is a lot more talented than Nelson, and it’s not even close. Clark also lacks talent and was consistently overwhelmed. We need more true FBS talent on the offensive line

D. Mark Richt
A. Larry Coker

This will probably come as a surprise to you, but, did you know? Manny Diaz is the son of the former mayor of Miami? Which makes him qualified to buy drinks for the over-promoted-peter-principle-ticket-distributor at a bar on South Beach north of 12th street and nothing else.
"Posted by: CGNC | December 27, 2019 at 10:03 AM"
Rodriguez and Fedora would both be acceptable as coordinators at this stage in their respective careers. Yost is a meh hire to me if it happens, but the real problem now has become recruiting and a new coordiantor is going to have no impact on that for a while so it's Titanic deck chairs until the line can improve enough as a platoon to block at a remedial level offensively.
Today is the portion of this horror movie where Vilma cusses out the rest of the moronic bots gathered around him that you fucking throw him open to the scoring lane off the rebound and get him the fucking ball for the easy layup next time in no uncertain terms. Aka the possible turning point in the story so far, but then again...

I would rather have Yost. Tech has very few high profile players and it seems a new qb every year and they still rank in the top 20 in scoring. The only thing can he recruit and That is where Fedora and Rodriguez have the upper hand. If I had to rank them it would be Fedora, Yost and then Rich Rod. His qb's tend to be averafe passers but very good runners.

CMD came up through the coaching ranks as a video editor, analytics guy and salesperson. As Sabin and Bellicheck explained, in this new day and age of technology, coaches can rise through the ranks without knowing anything about how to teach techniques or fundamentals to players.
Our current coaches (minus Rumph) aren’t good technicians, and it starts with the HC.

We knew that was coming.
Hearing Rumph is next. Nothing against Rumph if true but he is a zero in the recruiting game.
Patke, Berry, Stubs should all pack there Bags. Banda the opposite of Rumph, he is no where the coach but is better at recruiting but then again nothing great, so he can be on the list as well and get just one dam good DB coach who can also cruit.
Stroud, Fields, Blake and Hickson would be the only ones I keep and it wouldn't bother a brother, if Stroud was canned as well.
Can't see him dumping his butt brothers, Patke, Blake and Banda the all seem to have that Deno connection to Manure.

100% agree with you. Obviously this whole coaching thing isn't an exact science or Miami is just really bad at it I don't know. It would be interesting to see how other schools fair when they hire coaches (say over a 20 year period to see how they work out). I would assume without looking that some work and some don't, but maybe not at the level of Miami the last 17 years obviously.
