Van Dyke was recruited by Wisconsin 10-3 and Michigan 9-3...good teams that do not have....or land dynamic QBs. I emphasize good only good not great. Whisky pounded Michigan....both got pounded by OSU. Both have always had slow slew footed pro style QBs...and they are just good not elite. we have pretty much the same thing...except our QBs are not good and our team is not good. Minnesota recruited him also, but this was their best year in ages...guess they like slow sloths too.

I do not see this guy as elite or a leader...moderate numbers numbers against prep competition which is not good competition...Sr year he completes 61% 2,260 yds 21/6 td/int....this is against prep schools up north.
I think he reminds me of good old Kyle Wright...another big slow pro style white boy...who is about average. In that pro style UM offense....he will get hit hard and often with our poor OL.
His Delta Nickname with his pledge pin: Turf Face II!

I am not excited by any of these QBs...Tate is gone..good. Williams is bad but will probably be the QB...pornboy will go...I hope. They are bad. So that leaves us with Matocha and Turf Face II.....4-8 in 2020!!!!!!

roachcane77

Coaching matters... We're The U!... Dammit!

roachcane77

PLEASE, don't tell me Van Dyke is Turf Face II!😫

KW was probably the WORST QB we've EVER had... period.

I'm VERY worried about the upcoming coaching changes... (or the LACK thereof.)

A LOT of NFL coaches will become available after tomorrow... (Black Monday... )

(I wonder if CMD or BJ are even aware of that fact?)

86Cane

If we would just hire Roach Coach then all of worries would melt away.

roachcane77

I AM retired from the classroom now, (only coaching golf and tennis), so I DO have the time... AND I CERTAINLY hope I have more common sense than our Head Coach, OC, and AD seem to have.

VA Cane would be my FIRST choice as HC, and OL coach!

HerbieIbis

247 sports article says Dee Wiggins had a breakout year. Had 20 catches, up from 7 the year before. That ain't no breakout year for The Herb. 40 catches would be breakout.
How about learning how to run a route to get open other than running fly patterns.
U know we are the pits when 20 catches is something special in 13 games.
U imagine us running this slow motion offense that we run and these take forever routes we run against Clemson.
I better see some dam coaches on the tarmac tomorrow, heading out of town.
Wonder what Manny was thinking watching Clemson OSU last night. I guess spread is the way to go and I mean the up tempo spread.
I don't won't to hear the word multiple again, EVA!

VA Cane

I think a lot of people on here know more than what we have now. Many of you have been watching going to games...and suffering for a long time.....we are not stupid...and we know things have been wrong for a LONG time!!

“The offense they were running really wasn’t working,” Worsham said on Saturday. “They didn’t score any points, so I think they made a good decision, and I believe they’re going to bring somebody good in to make the offense run right.”

Four-star offensive tackle Jalen Rivers from Orange Park Oakleaf did not appear worried by Enos’ departure either.

“That change didn’t make a tremendous impact. Nothing could make me change or flip,” Rivers said. “I’m fine. There were changes before I committed. I’m used to

How can those 2 come back, both positions sucked. That shouldn't be all. Any combination of Patke Banda and Rumph, as well. Hell fire all three. No use stopping with 2. Rumph and Patke can't recruit. The way it's going with Rumph, in 2 years he may not have soul in the room.

Andrew Ivins of Inside the U is reporting that Stubblefield is likely to be replaced by head coach Manny Diaz. Ivins received the information from Miami four-star WR signees Daz Worsham and Michael Redding III who were told by Hurricanes’ strength and conditioning coach David Cooney, Stubbfield could be replaced.

Offensive line coach Butch Barry who also worked for Enos at Central Michigan and could be replaced by the Hurricanes during the offseason. Running backs coach Eric Hickson who was hired by Diaz, not Enos appears to be safe. The irony is that the running game was the biggest downfall for the 2019 Miami offense.

HerbieIbis

I'm surprised they were able to run at all with that line. Ain't Hickson's fault. The hardest runner we had is Burns but he touched the ball a whopping 29 times or less.
So Manny is now thinks he's a WR's coach. Now I've heard everything. That's rich. One less recruiter as well, unless he"s saving some cabbage to throw big bucks to a big time OC. Nah, that couldn't happen. If he's dumping Berry he better be getting someone quick. The next signing period is about 5.5 weeks away and ain't like we are so loaded with A-1 grade beef up front. Dam I forgot. Don't need no coaches out recruiting when u have that safety net, the portal.

solarcane

"The 2020 signing class wants to be the one to bring back the U. It is a tired and overstated statement that is meaningless until it happens. Redding and Worsham seem to understand what it is going to take to transform the Miami football program. Manny Navarro of The Athletic and Andrew Ivins of Inside the U quoted the WRs.

“I think they made the right call…They weren’t putting any points on the board and they weren’t really getting the ball to any wide receivers. I talked to [David Cooney {strength and conditiioning coach}].

He put us – the receivers there and the receivers coming – all in a group chat and he told us that Coach Diaz knows what he’s doing and just trust that he’s going to bring some explosive offense. I’m excited to see what the new offense is.

I just want to score a lot of points. I would like it to be spread where we just throw the ball a lot to open up big runs and make plays. We’re all coming in just ready to work…We want to bring everybody together and just hard work…I saw him (QB Tyler VanDyke)[at Paradise Camp.]

I think he’s got a strong arm and he’s accurate. He reads the defense well. I think he’s a quarterback that can get the ball to me.”

VA Cane

CMD - (and the C stands for congressman) said on QAM this morning that the offense will look very different next year...... lets see what that actually means

I think we have been hearing the winds of change for...well...16 years. We knew it would change after 2003 when KD11 and other greats graduated or left early. I think we felt good about the business model and that it would continue on. We were wrong....the team has been different every year alright...it has gotten progressively worse to me....and now it has reached the point of no return...

Note the word progressively....and about the leadership we have had along the way.....hmmmm think the idiot Donna Shitlala 2001 to 2015......therein lies the real root of the problem. This mental moron from all points progressive set out to destroy and/or end the program....and the ugly old bag is still around at 78.... I think she has just about achieved her progressive goal.....

raizecane

CMD said that "an up tempo offense helps with a young OL because it tires the defense"......duhhhh

The more I hear him speak, the more i dislike him and the less faith I have in our future.

VA Cane

and the old dirt bag IS a congressman.....not a congresswoman.....any old goat that ugly and wrinkled could not be a woman....shes a man underneath!!!

VA Cane

Yes but an up tempo O with a young OL gonna tire them out too because they do not know what they are doing and right now who is gonna coach an up tempo O....Manny? Ed O brought in a professional coordinator to change LSU....and they already had some fine players on both sides of the ball....he listened to others and did it right. Look at the success. They were down a little but still loaded with good players. We are like an unloaded gun....useless....we have no strong positions....and with graduation and early leaving it gets worse!!

I was never in step with this "search and hire"......liked MD as DC.....but to think he could be HC without ever interviewing anyone else is insanity....just like the "hiring" of Clappy Onion AlPa and CMR.....all done way too fast and unprofessionally. As a UM fan and a coach, I had to support the regime...give it a chance and be positive....but it has not worked, and with this seasons results, I do not think it can work. I cannot imagine anybody paying big $ to go see 6 games....real quick 1 game 2 people...parking, travel, food, lodging....how much for a UM game? multiply x 6 and think are you willing to spend that much to see a 6-7 team? Soup did not and hes the hardest of the hardcore! CGNC did not renew...these are people I respect, know their stuff, and love UM....its a very bad situation for the program....we have reached an impasse.
Blow up the canyon and free the water...start over in an honest real way! Fire them all...hang em high...for the fans!!!

solarcane

Before this season started Manny was telling us how the pro style was the only way to go because Howard and Jimmy won championships running it.

Now we get

In 2003 we had enough first rounders to qualify as a pro team. Yet we did not physically dominate the teams in the big easy. But the top 5 teams show physical dominance that in my opinion look like they are juicing. It was about time the OSU got the same bad calls that got them the ship against the U in 2003. But it looked like the money favored an lsu Clemson final. I read that the schools are responsible for drug testing except but the Ncaa conducts their own testing on the teams who make the championships. If the big schools are dropping bags it's hard to trust the drug testing.

Losing Linegard was coming. Can't say one way or another, if this was good or bad. Baffled The Herb about the knee injury. What kind was it? Was it an ACL, torn ligament or what. He could of played the dude the last 3 games. The only I could figure, is he must of been the poster boy for Manny was talking about, changing the culture. Dude must of bitched and moaned and didn't work hard. Maybe another of those So. Flo. Boyz that thought they were better than they actually were. At any rate, another 5 star flop. We must be the only team in America that gets the least out of 5.

Herb,
Lingard is more from Orange, which is more Central Florida, closer to Gainesville than MIAMI. That said, IMHO, not playing Lingard the last three games was a crime. Deejay was hurt, and the offense couldn’t score. Harris and Burns couldn’t break a tackle or make anyone miss, and the offensive line was struggling. Lingard could have provided a spark.

I saw enough of Lingard as a freshman and in camps to know that he had crazy talent, and he definitely had more talent than CamRon Harris from Carol City and Robert Burns from Gulliver, who are both from South Florida and who I also like. I can’t speak to his attitude once he joined the team, but when he was a recruit, he attended every UM camp I saw (whether he competed or not), Lingard dressed in UM gear, and Lingard recruited others to join him in the 2018 class.

In the runs that I saw, Lingard just needs a crease and no one is going to catch him. Lingard can also make people miss. It wouldn’t have hurt this struggling Canes offense to stick him in there to see what he can do — unless you are insecure, know-it-all coach and you do not want Lingard to get into the game and prove to the world that you should have been playing him all along. Why would he stay after this. Under the rules, I think he can play immediately next season.

Now, the Canes have probably lost both Lingard and his cousin, Avante Williams, a top 2020 DB recruit too. The Gators will probably take both and continue to distance themselves from us as a program.

Yes, I've got my theories about that and unfortunately none of them are good.

It wouldn’t have hurt this struggling Canes offense to stick him in there to see what he can do — unless you are insecure, know-it-all coach and you do not want Lingard to get into the game and prove to the world that you should have been playing him all along.

Yes, that makes no sense. Same situation as Jarren Williams under Richt in his final year. Unless it was attitude and/or knowing already that he was going to go to the portal. Then why play him? To do so risks creating additional issues with the rest of the team as in - I threaten to leave, so I get to play.

What a 5 Star Bleep Show Going on With Our Canes no wonder we just endured our worst 3 Game Losing streak since The Carl Selmar Days Yikes!

When TSully calls it.....say its so!!! It is that T....its just BS smoke and mirrors from the BOT AD and CMD. I have been at this as a coach for 41 years, played since 8...and I am 61...this is just a bad situation for the future of this team.

Ohio State crying over 2 calls...while I am not a crazy Replay guy, I think both were correct calls. The OSU player led with his helmet...not intentional but he did...its a penalty and though ejection is stiff...its the rule now. The second call was also correct; the guy never caught the ball; it was not a catch and fumble. So cry on folks....you had 2 picks and could have been up at one point 28-0...but you could not score. The call were right on both counts...the call in 2003 Fiesta was wrong...payback is hell 16 years later.

Al, solar...I am throwing down on the person not because of their politics, but their attitude in a situation. My niece had a professor who made multiple passes made at her. She called me and wanted to quit school. I filed a complaint and was told by person I commented on "these things happen, lighten up" That was BS! Thats what liberal minds think. I requested she be transferred to another class of the same subject. First was told it cannot be done in the middle of the term; I was told she can withdraw and repeaqt. With a near straight A average I said no hell no! Maybe you do not have a niece YOU personally put through UM with your $...I do. she is a great young lady, and had no reason to lie about it. When I was told that, I made it clear I would beat the Profs ass....and that if necessary I would beat DS' ass. I have never accosted a female improperly ever! and nobody does that to my children...daughter...or my niece! I made it clear I would deliver a beat down second to none! I dont play!....guess who won the war? ME! I dont back off anything when I KNOW I am 110% right. They blinked big time! Prof was terminated, as we provide little notes and cards showing an old dirtbag trying to sway a young innocent scared girl. I got my way, her class was changed and he was out.

If my up front in your face way in this matter offends any...i am sorry. You would not like my teams or me as a coach....cause I am that way aggressive...I always do what is right...and if I see wrong I call it out...if I have to got to an extreme RE wife daughter niece...sorry it may be the only alternative. all I can say is put yourself in my shoes. Maybe you would dismiss it...i did not. I dont need expensive legal wranglings or pompous appointees to solve my problems....I am a fairly educated man....but remember I am like Tatum....my best hits border on felonious assault!!
JMO maybe you would choose a softer gentler way....with my family there is no other way!

One of the first rules of coaching:

“Play to your players’ strengths, and minimize your players’ weaknesses.”

The Canes just have done that in a while, especially on offense.

The Herb

I hear u VA. I coached my self for many years. I used to tell my boys, I'm not going to baby u, that's up to your parents. I knew only one way to coach and that was hard. I didn't care the talent level, I treated them all equal hard in practice. Best player plays. Had no time for moaning and groaning. U either can or u can't and u played where I wanted u to play, not where u or your parents wanted u to.
All that being said we play as a team and no player is above the team. There are to many lazy ass, me first guys on that team. I know Manure has a vision, all coaches do but it"s not how u start it's how u finish, to me, is how a coached is viewed. From what I viewed he is not the guy for the job. The offensive guys don't respect him and he either left everything up to Anus and didn't bother coming around the offense or he just isn't a hard ass.
No way Thomas, Reed, William's and now I'm hearing Hightower should ever be let back on the team. 2 of those dudes quit mid season. U have to set boundaries and if u allow guys to quit and then come back what kind of respect u going to get. Others will do the same thing. If u want to jump into the portal, do so after the season, I get that but not in season.
Manny in over his head. The T.O. chain and rings have to go until these are busting ass every play and we start seeing consistent results.

I always say if a coach rubs the wing tee and wins the ship he is the most innovative man in the room. The players and coaches get there respect from each other by winning. So in this business losing us showing disrespect.
I see top 5 teams recover from one week to the next faster than normal in my opinion. Sompin ain't right.

VA Cane

Herbie great analysis in words and pics!!!

you got to have coaches steeped in strong football fundamentals , but at the same time you have to see what is happening in the game. Football is all about copycat.....Joe Burrow looks for D schemes to attack with the dynamic passing game developed by Joe Brady. If it is man, he looks at the matchups...he moves people around to get the matchups. If its zone, he looks for the openings in the zone. It is coaching...coaches develop players...make them...not vice versa. As a coach, whether college or young man, I first evaluate their stance, their skills, agility, speed, hands, weight, ATTITUDE, intensity, and response to criticism, coaching and change. I try to get them in a position that fits them, but still keep all options open for changes in position as they develop adapt and change. I talk about diet exercise...I am not about running guys to death...I love mountain biking....we are on the road alot...its 70 here now....we are riding tomorrow...including VA!

Our kids are way too much ME and never WE...aint no ME in TEAM!

I see top 5 teams recover from one week to the next faster than normal in my opinion. Sompin ain't right.

I see teams with 2 weeks to prepare and come out and dominate!!!! I see us come out after a break and are flat; no QUIT!!! Sorry I HATE Quitters and Losers!! This is a coaching problem AD problem...these people do not know the game and do not understand the kids. These kids need to be whipped physically and mentally into shape....if you do not want to win...get the hell out. I will teach and coach a kid always...but you come to me with an apathetical attitude...i dont care either...do not waste my time....come and learn to love winning hate losing...losing will happen...but with me i promise it will not be often! UM players and coaches do not understand that winning is very hard...it takes hard work...dedication....commitment...hours of work and prep....but when you get there by doing this...it is the greatest feeling in the world....but one snag...

you cannot sit back and relax....you cannot walk on a field anywhere with a revered/hated emblem on your helmet and expect to win.... cause the other side should respect you...but hate you with a passion and do all possible to win....This is directed at you MD, staff and all players claiming to be Hurricanes I do not live in the past but you are and embarrassing bunch of losers and quitters!!!!
Drop Mic!
