1. The best way to attack this is to go to the film, analyze each third down, and see what was successful and what wasn’t. Then you implement third down offense to do what you are good at.

2. The Canes need to do a better job recruiting transfers and freshmen OLs, especially OTs, to come in, and the Canes need to develop the OLs that are here.

1. I would love to see someone do this as a project and determine if it was (A) A bad play call; (B) a missed block; (C) a dropped pass; (D) a bad pass route ran by the WR; (E) A bad throw by the QB.

As a research exercise it would be interesting, but in the end it is a failure of the offensive coaches and there is no way around that.

2. Why can every other team recruit OL but we can't? If UNC, VT, GT, FIU and Duke can recruit good enough OL to beat Miami and our DL that is SO great then why can't we?

Oh, it's play calling you say? YES!!! It is NOT the OL it is the offensive scheme and the play calling.

I just proved my own point. FIRE all of the offensive coaches at UM and hire the ones from GT, Duke FIU and VT.

IT CAN'T BE THAT FRIGGIN HARD, IT JUST CAN'T BE!!!

HerbieIbis

Well let Oh Line analyzing begin:
1. For the most part talentless. Miami has always tried to put the best 5 linemen on the field, now it doesn't matter to them what position they are better suited for and that is a problem. We may have one legitimate tackle on the whole team.
2. Which brings The Herb to this, why don't we recruit tackles, dam if I know!
3. Barry came from the pros but when U don't have a lot to work with, man his job must be tough, not to mention Clarke and Nelson should of redshirted. Neither we're highly recruited by power 5 schools to begin with.
4. Searles didn't do anything to improve the rest of these guys.
5. The scheme just plain stinks and those other teams at least to their players strengths by running an offense that helps those players out. We keep running that dam pro set, when just about every high school I America runs some form of spread.
6. They want Rivers to play tackle but he may be better suited to play guard, the kid from Tenn. Is a project but he to he is being brought in to play tackle.
Smith will probably be dropped. That is all we have coming in so far. That is PITIFUL! You know we have serious problems on the line and that is all we have.
7. Hire one effing coach that can recruit, just one, at least!
8. Lastly I will say this, it's getting to look like this is the place where offensive lineman come to die and the cause of death the dam pro style.

BigWindyCane1

Herb and Soup are absolutely right 💯!

But I am not sure that CMD and Coach BARRY can get it done next year. I guess we will see

i've been asking myself that for a looooong time, which is why i asked this same question here early in the season; was hoping canespace erudition could open my eyes a bit

. . . but it does seem from the twittering of the old-timey canes OL players, who tried to help/teach, that there's not enough interest in that room either to learn from the older players or to dig deep with pride to make sure one gets better

still, WHY these are always OUR recruits is just a phenomenon that goes thru several coaching staffs and well-thought-of OL coaches!

at this point, i would suggest an exorcism of whatever demon has lodged itself there!

solarcane

VAs kinda coach.

Kirby Smart gets it better than any of the last 5 Miami coaches put together.

Give me a team full of 3 star players that absolutely hate to lose more than they love to win, against a team full of 4 star players only interested in buying their mama a new house and we win every time.

After a loss I don't want to see hurt and embarrassment, I want to we helmets flying around and infuriated faces.

solarcane - isn't it time for you to take your beauty rest?

isn't it well-known that nothing good ever happens after 2:36 a.m.?

well, i'll trust your experience & wisdom on this one . . .

solarcane

Bighugs So,

I'm in the sign shop banging out 200 decals and couple tee shirts.
Time is money or something like that

solarcane

Ha ha that was supposed to be Big Al

alpine

"nothing good ever happens after 2:36 a.m.?"

ooops; some of those brain cells got clogged up with all the chocolate i ate yesterday
. . . meant to say "2 a.m.", but started thinking about something else at the same time
. . . and i'm not so brilliant at that multi-tasking thing-y
. . . i can do "focus"
. . . but i'm a graveyard for "foci"

Miami Football redshirt freshman defensive end Greg Rousseau capped off a brilliant season by being named the ACC Rookie Defensive Player of the Year.

One bright spot in a disgusting year

aaaaahhhh . . . tell you the truth, i'm not sure that's a good enough reason to burn the candles at both ends
. . . and definitely not as good a reason as "time with wifey"

. . . but knowing you, you're probably also enjoying this middle-of-the-night dedication-to-work thing-y you've got going; more power to you, young man!

solarcane

I actually love the work Al, I get up about 5 am lots of mornings to either knock some work out or head out to the lake to kayak.

I designed the Canespace logo in the middle of the blog logo and those killer Canespace shirts for Tom years and years ago.

2 additional things to like about him:

1- his first name is the name of my son

2- his last name is basically "rush you", but written & pronounced in the more culturally smooth and artistic "rousseau", just like his smooth moves to the QB

another tip o'the cap to you, sir!

solarcane

It was and is my pleasure,
Tom can be a knucklehead but he can be the nicest guy you will ever meet, there isn't much I wouldn't do for him or the Space,

Ok I gotta cut some stickers out and pack em up I will catch you later today Big Al

We suck, Manny ain’t the answer. We’ll suck again next year.

BUT we beat FSU and they’re in a worse situation than we are.

Find something else to do on Saturday’s and you’ll be pleasantly surprised how much better life is.

This made me look at the loge (which I've alwas liked, great job Solar back in the day).
"It's a Canes thing, you wouldn't understand."

While it may still be a Canes thing, but quite honestly, I no longer understand.

It once was a matter of pride, dedication and belief to stand by the Canes (up against the world) through thick and thin.

Now, I wonder whether it's more than mere nostalgia. Watching the Canes feels like passing a traffic accident: You know you shouldn't look, but you can't help, and then you feel kind of embarrassed for doing so.

raizecane

Until we win a major Bowl, the Canespace logo should be the same as KYCanes avatar.

Thanks, and and I agree with the way you feel.

It used to be everybody hates the U
Now nobody even thinks about the U.

And that embarrassment thing yea...

Put away the bling, don't dress up like you are a 70s Raider fan just to be on TV every game, you are embarrassing everyone around you,

never use the word Swagger, and and bring yourself to realize it is very seldom about the U.

The Herb is going out on a limb and saying Manny won't make any changes to the offence. Using the excuse that that side of the ball was young with a first year QB and 3 new starters on the line, including 2 true freshman starters. I can here it now, defending and making excuses. He will fail if he doesn't.

Manny sucks big time for sure, but those guys that wrote that are complete ass.
Ryan Day gets an A+ WTF??

The guy starts out with probably the best team in the country with the best quarterback in the country. Yea he really had to coach his ass off alright.

Terrance M Sullivan

So Solar what Grade would you give Manny and what grade would you give Ryan????

solarcane

I would give Manny an F sully

I think Day had a bit of Coker team to start off with. Weren't they like 10 and 1 in 2018 when Meyer stepped down and end up like 13 and 1, ranked 3ed or 4th in the country?

Manny started out with a 35 or 40 place team and managed to do worse.

Day started out with the 3ed best team in the country and stayed up there, but had some of the best players in the country helping him.

I would give Day about a B or a tad better, he didn't fold under the pressure of being The Ohio State HC and that is something also.

Remember what a big deal everybody made about Coker's first year when it was Butch's kids that put in all the work?
thats jmo

#15 ACC Defensive Rookie of The Year beating down a few qbs

https://twitter.com/i/status/1202228234256928769

HerbieIbis

I would give Day an. He had the talent and they sure as hell didn't play down to their comp. They just beat people up and with a first year starting QB. Young, at DE us great and we all thought Garvin would be but he pretty much took a powder this year. It wasn't until the Duke game did he come out to play.
Plus I think Day is his own OC.

HerbieIbis

That should of said Day gets an A, from The Herb.

Ohio State 2019

FAU
Cincinnati
Indiana
Miami O
Nebraska
Mish St
Northwestern
Maryland
Wisconsin
Rutgers
Penn St.
Mischigan

I think Penn state and Wisconsin were the only real good teams they played this year, but probably all of them would beat us by 21 points

We play LSU schedule with Manny coaching drop football completely for next season.

solarcane

Herb I think the OC Urban Meyer hired stayed there when Day got hired, not sure though, I thought some of Meyers staff was still there?

#4 Georgia plays #1 LSU Saturday
#2 Ohio State plays Wisconsin Saturday
# 5 Utah plays #13 Oregon Friday (I think)
