I saw some of you all trying to pull the 12% bus out of the shop on the last blog. In January. After last season. Just stop.

Go 'canes!!

Harry Miller

What the hell's going on down there.

Get the bus.

alpine

weren't we talking about bussing away all the 2019 mess?

isn't the whole canespace on that bus?

cleaning up/out the old as important as ordering in the shiny new, which manny is mostly very good at

alpine

. . . and 2019 reminded us, you can't spell "bust" without the "bus"

alpine

i liked the article, 86
. . . kind of forgot about manny #1

solar, good "manny reminder" on the last blog

Big Marsh
@hurricanesmarsh
If you combine Greg Rousseau and Quincy Roche’s stats from 2019, you’d have:
-28.5 sacks
-38.5 TFLs
Bring Roche to Miami, and you have the most deadly DE duo in college football
Jan 3, 2020

alpine

all this talk of a roche on the d-line brings back roach battles growing up in the gables

. . . lived in the wonderful, beautiful chinese village, but it was old (no AC or heat) and, together with all the banana trees in our backyard, we were a center for the spine-tingling palmetto bug, with it's creepy, ugly markings and it's ability to prove, thru chemical-tentings and bi-monthly terminators, that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

- had my first levitational experience after turning out the light and walking barefoot to my bed, when one foot came partway down on one
. . . my body did an 8" vertical without even using a foot-plant into the floor;
roach didn't even get smushed

- night snacks meant reaching my arm around to turn on the kitchen light at night; then waiting for all the scurrying sounds to stop, before entering

etc . . .

didn't mind leaving that part of south florida behind!!

- hoping the roche-rousseau duo has the same nightmare effect on opposing offenses

alpine

one last thing:

i think go canes' somewhat over-the-top positive response is the better way to handle the off-season, than "i'll wait 'til thanksgiving before giving thanks"

. . . too often, we have both bigger wins and more consistent winning during the off-season than, at the least, anyone else in the ACC

(. . . except, of course, for clemson, which again unloaded a cattle-car full of 5-star, can't-miss, stud bulls)

shouldn't we be having 2 seasons? so that we can collect our off-season coastal championship each year?!
. . . the canes way to "fight for the right to paaaaaarty"

Go Canes!!

Got some comments on my post complimenting Manny before the new blog came out.

Don't understand how anyone doesn't think what Manny has done since the end of the season deserves the superlatives.

If we put together a checklist of what MUST be fixed on this team for us to have any hope for 2020 what would it look like. Think it would look something like this:

1) Fire OC and find a proven young coach who runs a spread offense
2) Fire OL coach and find someone with experience who's had success recruiting
3) Fix the completely dysfunctional QB room with a great Grad Transfer
4) FIND A FREAKING KICKER!!
5) Bring in more DBs, we are paper thin there
6) Find a way to replace the pass rush lost with the Garvin and Hill departures

Would anyone disagree with that list?

Well all have been addressed, some beyond our wildest expectations. So just as I called Manny's first season an unmitigated disaster and a complete failure, I'll give him an irrefutable A+ for what he's done since.

I agree. I have seen this act before and I am not buying a ticket to the "flop" until I see it with my own eyes on the field and consistently.

I am on the 6-6 Bus! I have zero confidence in Palmetto 57th Manny!

Terrance M Sullivan

Soupster U Got That Right and I stand corrected I am on the 7-5 Bus. Great Job Soupster!

BigWindyCane1

With these changes in place, it’s hard to believe that even CMD could mess this up. As long as he stays out of Lashlee’s way, I think the Canes will have a great year.

Terrance M Sullivan

Soupster Ha Yes The 12% Bus Rolls Along it is the First of 3 Busses their is the 12% Bus which is the First Bus to Roll Up to The Rock at Home or at an Away Stadium. Their is the 9-3 Bus which is the 2nd Bus behind the 12% Bus and The 3rd and Final Bus is the 7-5 Bus which I am on.

The short bus

orange 'n green in the vein

If Tate Martell wasn't a complete bust of a QB, he might be D'Eriq King.

The sid tard slurp squad talking about 'highest level' play is full of Fake Lames hand up their ass making their mouth move of course because here's his career starting QB record:

2017
W @#17 USF 28-25 (finished season 10-2, ranked #21)
W ECU 52-27 (3-9)
L @Tulane 17-20 (5-7 highest level QB play says the slurpers in the sid-tard squad!)
W Navy 24-14 (7-6)

2018 (coach was fired despite all that 'top level QB play', sid tards blame D'No after frothing his nuts along with fatso for five seasons in Miami because that's what Fake Lames made them do with his hand up their ass)
W @Rice 45-27 (2-11)
W Arizona 45-18 (5-7)
L @Texas Tech 49-63 (5-7, coach was fired)
W Texas Southern (2-9 cupcake game)
W Tulsa 41-26 (3-9)
W @East Carolina 42-20 (3-9)
W @Navy 49-36 (3-10)
W #21 USF 57-36 (7-6)
L @SMU 31-45 (5-7)
L Temple 49-59 (8-5)

2019
L @ #4 Oklahoma 31-49 (12-2 ranked #6)
W Prairie View A&M 37-17 (6-5 cupcake game)
L #22 Washington State 24-31 (6-7)
L @Tulane 31-38 (7-6)

11-7 (9-7 outside of cupcake payoff games)lifetime starter. Average record of teams he started against comes in at a whopping 5-7 range, can't make this garbage up the sid tard slurp squad is quintuple posting to parrot Fake Lame's talking points with!

Also I see it's that time of the year when useless star gazing is tallied up for players who are done as pro football athletes after they were drafted already to pretend subscription websites are useful for anything but entertaining their paying subscription base with news they want to read, always useless posting that never stops from the usual suspect . . .

If I recall, I rejected a free ride on the 12% bus and elected to go the "limo" route. Well, that Limo has now turned into a Yugo. If this doesn't get any better, I may have to downgrade to Uber or perhaps a Lime Scooter.

"The sid tard slurp squad" and "Fake Lames"

i keep asking myself, if you think these "expressions" are still funny or creative or interesting, since you use them in 9 out of 10 posts

i'm assuming you're better than this, but you could really use a canespace time-out to work on new expressions and a new style of writing

Alpine,
Don't get caught in OGV's rhetoric, there is a message but you would need a decoding machine to get the true meaning. Now when it's basketball it's totally different, he usually speaks in plain english.

Big Al,
I really enjoyed your recent posts, plenty of humor with some good thoughts sprinkled in.

The reason I said I would consider how this off season improvements went by Thanksgiving was because as it's been well documented I have believed for years we are an 8-4 team.

If by Thanksgiving we have won 8 games and have a chance to improve on that, I will think Manny has done an outstanding job.

I DO believe he has made some good improvements.
If Lashlee can groom Van Dyke to step in after King leaves I will be content Manny has it together.

old news, but now that the big king signing is slowly being digested, time to go back to this one and savor it:

The Miami football program flipped their third former Florida State commit on Sunday. Four-star cornerback Isaiah Dunson announced via Twitter that he intends to sign with the Hurricanes on National Signing Day in February. Dunson will join running back Jaylen Knighton and safety Jalen Harrell as former FSU commits in Miami.

Dunson fits the profile for what Manny Diaz is looking for in a cornerback. At 6’2, 180 pounds, the length Dunson has is what Diaz and defensive coordinator Blake Baker like on the outside. Dunson will be the second-highest ranked defensive player and highest-ranked defensive back in the Category 20 class for Miami.

I think it means we may steal Wideman, a current FSU commit or he's thinking about something kinky
and meant to write 'Wideman's wipe'.

CGNC

Manny! He used to come on the blog way back in the day and hang with us. LOL he is so truthful that Enos blocked him on twitter I think

CGNC

Go - A+, seriously? You have to at least wait and see how national signing day goes and the first few games of the season. He has to earn his A+ from me. What about that leaky boat of an O-line - LOL?

Harry Miller

If we start showing a resemblance of the offense
that I see watching Huston and d'Eriq King with a steady improvement through the year, we will be off and running with 4* and more 5* recruits not leaving. They will want to stay and be part of the
march to the play off's and a Championship.

I think they will love the U and this new offense.
Build the Spread and they will come.

The Herb

Fellows, got to look at the bright side, we got no where to go but up. We still have more talent than everyone in ACC except Clemson and maybe FSU and now maybe we have somebody in Lashlee that knows what to do with it.
Going be up to the players to get in the playbook, get their Tudes right and play for each other, then we will start to see the results. Going to be a few growing pains. Still got to learn how to be consistent. Still got to learn how to consistently win on the road and learn how to not lose to teams that have no busy being on the field with us.
Whatever The King brings us, it has to be better than watching those 2 stumble bumpkins (William's & Perry) try to run an offense. Granted William's was a RS a would have a bad game here and there but this dude has a major tude problem and it has been on going. Best thing for him to do is hit the portal.
Perry don't care one way or the other.
As far as predictions, if can resolve our issues quick we could be anywhere from 7-5 to 12-0. There will be a couple games where will struggle, every team has them but the good teams find a way too win those and we have found different ways to lose them.
Will be alright.

TheHerb

Or Damon Hazelton?

RCCF

Someone Say 12%????

Joe

The Houston Defense was garbage, so you can't hit him on that. He scored the points needed to win, but his defense isn't anywhere near Miami's to pull their weight. I don't care what King's record was at Houston, he scored points and ran the spread flawlessly. Our Defense will be on the field the same amount as last season, because Uptempo scoring offense will allow us to score fast and wear down the opposing teams offense for a change. Also, the another difference is the high scoring will offset some of the defensive mistakes and our defense should feed off the the offense. That's how good teams play they feed off each other and that was definitely lacking as we relied completely on the defense all game. I'm optimistic we get atleast 9 wins and hope for more.

nemo2020

Any confirmation yet on new transfers, etc.
Today is the deadline for Spring Semester registration.

Joe

I'm guessing we wont be getting any of the OL transfers that were mentioned a few weeks ago since the deadline is today. I guess we can get some transfers in the summer, just better if they were able to practice and get in the weight room with the team in the Spring.

solarcane

I think they will love the U and this new offense.

Posted by: Harry Miller | January 21, 2020 at 02:36 PM

Me too Harry
We get the guys with the right mentality and develop them, the next recruiting class will be eager to be here.

TheHerb

Unless, something strange happens, will have to wait until after Spring practice to check out the fruits from the portal. Don't look for much going on Feb 6th either, maybe one to two additions.
Will definitely get someone in the spring for Oh line help and either another Cb and Wr, that's if we don't snatch one of those up Feb.6th.

86Cane

1. As far as predictions, if can resolve our issues quick we could be anywhere from 7-5 to 12-0.

2. Will be alright.

Posted by: The Herb | January 21, 2020 at 03:09 PM

1. So what you are saying is that we are going to be 12-0? Put Herb on the 12% bus.

2. As long as we don't run out of Cap'n N Coke we should be fine, otherwise RaizeCane may blow a gasket after the first three-and-out.
