Just ask the top scoring teams in college football and they will tell you.
Scoring is easy. They do it early and often and they like it a lot.
So guess which NCAA teams scored the most points in 2019?
Go ahead, we will wait. Guess who you think scored most?
OK, OK, I know you are tired of guessing, so here it is in easy terms:
- LSU 48/9/PPG
- Bama 47.2/PPG
- Ohio State 46.9/PPG
- Clemson 45.3/PPG
- UCF 43.4/PPG
- Oklahoma 42.1/PPG
- SMU 41.8/PPG
Funny how all of those teams are ranked near the top 10 of the Top 25.
So now you are wondering about the UM offense. What was Miami's average PPG?
Well, Miami scored an average of 25.7 points per game in 2019.
The Hurricanes ranked 90th is points scored per game.
And that ain't gonna get it done in 2020.
Lashlee, you got next. Can you score?

(manny's) comments can often appear to be unnecessary veiled shots at his current players--players he will need to turn this program around.

i agree . . .
most of his "talking points" need to be thrown into that fiery dumpster where golden's binders ended up

Former UM Baseball player and current Red Sox skipper is in a lot of trouble and should be kicked out of the game.
He should join the Houston *Astericks skipper and GM on the unemployment line.
We're pouring our time and money into these teams. The fans deserve better.

Until we get close to Clemson's level a majority of So. Flo. talent will flock to the SEC schools because it is a much stronger and better conference. Bigger games, better completion, and better players.
Coker did make changes. He fired about 5 coaches. His problem he didn't realize the problem was him.

LSU has a fine team....they played well. Both these teams are far better than we are; we should not be on the same field with either....Clemson was the nail for AlPa ands I think the LSU game told CMR he needed to get out of the game as well. While I think they both were really good....they...or any other team will never touch UM 2001....hands down the greatest team ever...IMO!!!
Two things I saw and did not like....pretty boy Trevor Lawrence blew a kiss to the LSU fans....fine player but no need for that.
Joe Burrow started pointing at a ring late in the game; again that is not needed.
We like to keep our feelings, no matter good or bad, close to the vest. We do not talk or point or make gestures. It happens and we have the answer.....I tell my guys its that time.....some Tatumizers..Low hard clean fast LEGAL.....but send a silent message from there on out....I have never run the score up ever...but I have seen some people leave the game...and not want to come back. I am not for talking pointing or doing childish things that should not be done....but if so....we send hard messages.

Agree Sarasota....there is no room for cheating in any game...play hard win or lose. Thats why a lot of people agree that the NE Super Bowls are shams...they have been cheating for a long time....yet the league looks the other way. Good teams...but cheaters. Josh McDaniel tried taping vs 49ers in Denver....and that combined with poor coaching sent him crawling back to NE. They were never really held accountable...but they cheat.

Va,
If u don't want them show boating, then they got to do something about it. They didn't want us dancing in the old days, then they should of stopped us. The NCAA had to stop us. Might as well say the NCAA's do's and don't are clips of the old Miami teams.
The kids can't do a little celebrating after scoring a tad but they can point after catching a first down pass.
The NCAA is to up tight. At least let them spike it on a TD. No dancing or gyrations but only after a TD.
Ole Trevor was like a good pitcher who couldn't locate his fastball last night.
I didn't see no generational talent but the dude is good. One thing, to me he lacks is touch. He throws it 90 mph but is lacking a little touch.
Want to know how far from Clemson we are:
0ne Qb
2 oh linemen
At least 2 wr.
One DT
One LB
One DB
8 talented difference makers.
We may have a few on the team but none has risen to the top, yet.
RUSSO CAN BE BUT LET'S SEE HIM PUT BACK TO BACK YEARS TOGETHER.
Jordan can be but the same goes for him.
Silverado could be BUT he has not proven it yet.
Coaching has got to reach these dudes but even there, is a problem. We lack a few pieces there as well.
This thing ain't going to turn around fast enough but it better because looking us smack dab in our lamps is Bama to start 2021 off.

I do think this new attack will take a couple years to implement you got to develop OL WRs Backs....and our talent is limited...so unfortunately we are stuck with Manhole.
I do not like it at all, but its a given at this point.

I must admit, I laughed because the video reminds me of an optimist football game here in South Florida

Joe Burrow throws for 16 TD's last season and follows that up with 60 this season.

Coaches fault for letting him get away with the added kilos. He must of been sitting with Zion at the buffet table last winter and spring. Zion went from 240 to 285 in about 3 months.

Good riddance. This is so much worse than the steroid scandal. My TB Rays lost a game 5 division playoff match-up in Houston this season and the Yankees lost the ALCS a few weeks later. The Red Sox won the World Series in 2018 in Alex's 1st season as skipper, one year removed from Houston having won the 2017 World Series.

Windy, Al: agree on Mannyâs comments re current players and incoming class. Reeks of desperation... âthe new kidsâll save both my ass and this programâ... lol. Get the culture and attitudes right or else youâll lose those kids as they absorb the loser mentality OR get out because they want something/someplace better!
Posted by: DallasTX Cane | January 14, 2020 at 09:38 PM
I hope CMD learns on the job and becomes one of the greats, but when your primary mantra is the TNM and changing the culture, having articles talking about a party culture and seeing the issues starting from the supposedbteam leaders (i.e. QBs), it tells me either he doesn't get it or that he has no choice because his QB options are woeful, both in talent and in maturity/desire to win/intelligence, or a combination thereof. One can HOPE that the incoming QB, maybe another by portal, will be a big step. Since I have no other choice, I'll hope. VC's nicknames for the top 2 QBs from last year says it all about their immaturity and lack of desire to win. At least I think Manny really wants to win...
Posted by: JCane | January 14, 2020 at 09:52 PM

Is he capable of figuring this out, Herb? Hopefully the new OC makes him smarter. Concerning but good stat, in case anyone doesn't notice the huge talent gaps in ncaa fb like never before.
Posted by: JCane | January 14, 2020 at 11:09 PM
JC,
That's an A-1 fact about the talent gap. The SEC is so strong, it even helps the the mid tier teams in their conference get pretty good classes.
To many teams in The ACC are up and down. No consistency. A bunch of teams that are between 5-7 & 7-5. 14 teams and those records are probably true for 9 of the teams.
Most of the top level players in the South want to play in the SEC.
Probably 6 to 7 of the top recruiting classes are from the SEC. The only way for the ACC to get better is for Miami, FSU and Va. Tech to get their shyt together. Unc will be good but they have never been able to sustain success.
Right now Clemson has taken over the ACC and there is no comp. Maybe one game a year, when the stars align right some team can have a chance at an upset. No team can play 12 straight weeks at a high level, without a couple bad halves and a bad game. The difference the good teams find a way to win those.

I have always contended the U died 1 2003 at the Fiesta Fiasco.....factually not true. The spirit, the leadership, the depth, the willingness to compete DID DIE! 2003 we had some greats Carey, Gore,Hester,Joseph,Roscoe, K2, ST26, JVilma,Beason,Rolle,Wilfork,Rolle, DJ.....11-2....got destroyed at VT (met ST26 with my son) sucked against UT....but the depth...the want to die to win, offensive leadership...Brock Berlin FL retred....it was not complete. It really slipped but was not a bad team.....2004 was still decent...9-3...but the rot had set in. Each year there were bad glaring losses the poor coaching at all 3 aspects of the game....and it got worse and worse and worse!
We still had some good players here and there....but no QB...no attack....weak DL OL....and a turnstile of bad coaches in all areas!
Now we are way out of the National picture....we are not even in the local picture....FSU has fallen but are making changes...FL is better, FIU beat us, FAU was 11-3, UCF 35-4 last 3 years....there is no tale3nt and its getting worse....hope we can pull out of this....we have to be at the bottom...

Good post VA,
I have always felt the 2005 Peach Bowl ass kicking courtesy of LSU was the beginning of the end of it being all about The U.
Posted by: solarcane | January 15, 2020 at 06:45 PM
I think 2003 Fiesta Fiasco was the start....we went down in 2003 to 11-2...sprung a leak...little more in 2004....to 9-3...more leaking..both not what we were used to being...2005 we lost opener to FSU...then rolled to # 3 when GT beat us...then came the Peach Bowl Blowout....LSU whipped us bad....and the bottom dropped out of the boat.....we been drowning ever since...guess ya got to get back in the water off the dry barren wasteland....We became Strangers in a Strange Land(Robert A. Heinlein)....time to get back in the water learn to swim with the big boys again....
Posted by: VA Cane | January 15, 2020 at 07:33 PM
We got a saying from back in the mountains.....
"If you do not want to run with the big dogs, stay on the porch; if you do want to run with the big dogs, learn to piss in the tall weeds!"
or Earnhardt about Talladega "If you donât want to race fast at Talladega, tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants donât come up there and eat that candy ass!"
I cannot understand a man going onto that field and not be willing to DIE TO WIN.....Its all that matters in anything....WIN! JMO
