Just ask the top scoring teams in college football and they will tell you.
Scoring is easy. They do it early and often and they like it a lot.
So guess which NCAA teams scored the most points in 2019?
Go ahead, we will wait. Guess who you think scored most?
OK, OK, I know you are tired of guessing, so here it is in easy terms:
- LSU 48/9/PPG
- Bama 47.2/PPG
- Ohio State 46.9/PPG
- Clemson 45.3/PPG
- UCF 43.4/PPG
- Oklahoma 42.1/PPG
- SMU 41.8/PPG
Funny how all of those teams are ranked near the top 10 of the Top 25.
So now you are wondering about the UM offense. What was Miami's average PPG?
Well, Miami scored an average of 25.7 points per game in 2019.
The Hurricanes ranked 90th is points scored per game.
And that ain't gonna get it done in 2020.
Lashlee, you got next. Can you score?
All these reports coming out about lack of focus in the locker room is not a surprise. I knew something was up when you have players dancing on the sideline when they are down to an inferior opponents.
NO WAY that shit would have happened back in the day when we had leadership. You think Ed Reed would let you get away with that garbage????

I agree Herb, First Take is horrible...those 2 guys just take pre-scripted sides and argue....same with Undisputed....scripted arguments from 2 idiots.. Even Fox First Things First....Nick Wright looks a clown and talks a like a clown....and he has...along with Marble Mouth Shannon Sharpe....a very disturbing man crush on LeBron James. I have gotten where I watch Sportscenter for football news then when they go to other sports...are there any others? I go to news or something noy so stupid as these fake sports shows!..They should take First Take FTF and Undisputed off tv....its just painful noise.
Fox has the best football people Troy and Joe...then you got JJ, Howie, Terry, Gonzalez Strahan....guys who played coached in different eras....and really know the game.
Posted by: VA Cane | January 13, 2020 at 09:42 AM
Good point raize....guys skipping practice smoking dope flashing $ creating porn laughing joking anything but caring about winning.
Football is only Fun at 1 point...WINNING. It is a hell of a reward great feeling! Getting there is WORK...and you have to have work ethic, commitment and want to win. Practice commitment lifting etc...is not fun...its work that you have to put in.
Nobody on the team is committed. Manhole barks like a Yorki...meek! Someone needs to get in some tail, chew some ass, and run a lot of these kids off. Take the damn schollys, remove the names, and throw the dame TO chain and rings out!!! That jewelry crap is a clown show and has no place in football. One thing matters:WINNING...at least for me. The rest is all social noise that gets in the way of winning!
Posted by: VA Cane | January 13, 2020 at 09:48 AM
VA - you are correct. Until we make the practices harder then the game itself, we will continue to be a .500 team
Posted by: raizecane | January 13, 2020 at 09:56 AM
listening to Skip....an idiot...said Wilson cost them the game...on the 2 point try and last play....2 point try....Beastmode...bless his heart...went left in protection and there was no pressure that side.....he missed the protection call....last sack TE and back got beat...you could call it either way...great blitzing...or poor blocking...a bit of both to me....RW3 makes many many plays ....he carries that team...Balless and Marble both missed the blocking gaffs.....not surprising....Balless is an idiot...Marblemouth was a good receiving TE.....but he did not like to block too much....they both do not know what they are talking about....an idiot and a HOFer...both blind...by the way...Aikman pointed both plays out....a smart player....and person...the others...not so smart....turn it off too much noise for me..
congrats to JJ again...it meant a loty to him!
Posted by: VA Cane | January 13, 2020 at 09:58 AM
Raize...not trying to relive the past....but HS JJ DE....made people compete to play....there were fights arguements late hits ....guys went after each other...no out of hate....the desire to WIN!!!
Ed Reed KD11 Shock J Vilma....keep naming them....enforced the desire to WIN....I'm hurt Dawg.....it has not been like that since those guys left....since 03....its an attitude "I got a U on my hat and green and orange...ok we win".....its so soft....this is the softest program in America....ALL LEVELS....nobody wants to fight for time...or fight on the fie3ld to WIN!!!
Posted by: VA Cane | January 13, 2020 at 10:16 AM
i thought sully & soup have track & tennis covered?
what's the word?
Posted by: alpine | January 13, 2020 at 11:18 AM
I also think Meek Manhole is not the man to bring competition back....not a bad DC here...but he failed in other places and was fired...should have been fired here...
nobody in the program understands how and why it worked here from 1980 to 2003..Rumph was here he should know..he just is here for a check shame on him....and why it is failing program now...the softest program in the nation with a bunch of crybaby entitled brats for the most part....a few have shown that effort..DJ gave it all every play....and Jimmy Murphy....the rest just laid down....even Rousseau seemed apathetical...what a shame....guys like SQ55 crying...wanna be with my guys....I really think many guys like losing...ya got to hate it with a passion to do something about it...Competition is what matters. Each year I tell old and new players...go out for what you want to play, but thats what you want...but may not be what I need...nobody has a position for me...you earn it....works for me...worked there....long ago...
Posted by: VA Cane | January 13, 2020 at 11:19 AM
So our 3 EE at the WR position are listed as 6'1", 6'0" and 5'10"
Posted by: raizecane | January 13, 2020 at 11:57 AM
I am not as concerned with height as I am with other aspects of WR.
1. route running must be precise, accurate. 3rd and 6...you need to drive it 8 common sense thinking...fundamentals!
2. can you catch the ball in your hands, not chest? can you catch period.
3. No plays off like Randy Moss....run your route do your job every play.
4. Can you block? You have to...for runs and catches...no loafing...use speed...weight work to get bigger stronger...knock the hell out of people.
5. Are you fearless? Will you cross the middle take the hit...enjoy collisions!
6. Do you want to win? How bad do you want to win? Will you DIE to WIN if need be? IT MATTERS!
7. Will you do your job 110% every play, not whine complain quit sulk? Will you keep your mouth shut give it your all....kill to WIN?
If so I want you...if any questions about above.....leave now...I cannot use you and sure do not want you!!!
Just my way....but WE WIN OFTEN! WINNING IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!
Posted by: VA Cane | January 13, 2020 at 12:28 PM
Probably help if we had a real QB instead of these prima donna babies....and a real aggressive athletic OL!
DVD recruiting assistant? Yikes....never cared for him as player....mr not hit someone!....T%his staff needs a lot more cleaning up....if you want to win!

I think an 18 year old kid in Clemson,Baton Rouge,Tuscaloosa,Norman,
Columbus,Athens, etc. has a lot less distractions than the same kid would have in Miami.
The kids that leave here and go to small towns where college football is all there is 24/7 365 seem to thrive maybe because they concentrate on being football players and not rock stars.
I have been to Athens a bunch of times, the music scene there is on par with anywhere, but the town really is pretty lame other wise, plus its like a blast furnace 8 months of the year.
It seems the most focused guys on Miami came from towns not named Miami,DJ Dallas,Osborn,Jordan,Shaq .

VAC,
I agree with everything you said here about the commentators, and that Russell Wilson is unbelievable. Rogers was also good, but he also has a running game.
But the best QB I have seen in a while is Patrick Mahommes. He is on another level.
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | January 13, 2020 at 03:35 PM
He did a nice job....a little slack at the end...I think every kid just grew tired of the BS with the coaching, AD, BOT....very bad situation. Things getting a bit better though; some change. We need to lose some more coaches...Rumph has forgotten how to play...cannot recruit. ST guy still here?
DVD recruiting? Fire them all!
Posted by: VA Cane | January 13, 2020 at 03:36 PM
Yes Mahommes is really something...he can make all the throws...great arm....can move and run. Sees field really good. Great attitude. He is the model for the future of football...

Great news! So does that mean the Canes have had a first team Freshman All American for three straight years?
Donaldson - 2017
Jordan - 2018
Rousseau - 2019

I'm late to the party .. Terrance, I'm sorry to hear about your job loss. Hope you bounce back better than before with something that makes you excited to go to work every day.

Actually, Freshman All American for four straight years?
Richards - 2016
Donaldson - 2017
Jordan - 2018
Rousseau - 2019
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | January 13, 2020 at 04:33 PM
Sorry, I just checked. Brevin Jordan received a Midseason Freshman All-America recognition from ESPN, but was not Freshman All-American. The Canes have First Team Freshman All Americans 3 out of the last 4 years.
Richards - 2016
Donaldson - 2017
Rousseau - 2019

UM WR responses to the above:
1. We don't need any stinking fundamentals. We just kinda run around in circles until the QB gets sacked.
2. DOINK!
3. No plays off? But coach we tired ova heya.
4. Yo, I'm a 5 star WR, I ain't paid to block.
5. Fearless? Hell we scared of our own shadows. I don't wanna get hit or anything.
6. Winning is cool and all but it ain't was it is all cracked up to be. I ain't dying for no football.
7. 110%? Child please! I'll give you maybe 70%. On a good day.
Now we gotta go take a nap. Catch you fans later...

I just read about the Coach Rhett Lashlee interview, and I remain cautiously optimistic.
Lashlee certainly knows what to say to get the recruits excited about coming to the U -- so far, so good.
I know we have been down this "new coach" road before, but I have no reason to doubt that Lashlee will get this thing turned around as long as CMD doesn't stand in his way.

Okay, NC game tonight. After much deliberation I am going for LSU - mainly because I like Joe Burrow and for the simple selfish fact that if Clemson wins there isn't much stopping them from breaking our 34 game FBS win streak. I think USC had the same win streak which ended thanks to Texas but is probably a moot point since they got in trouble and had some wins vacated. You have to go back to the 1950's and beyond to find anyone with more.
Posted by: CGNC | January 13, 2020 at 07:00 PM
P,S, I lied above, there wan't much deliberation at all LOL
Posted by: CGNC | January 13, 2020 at 07:01 PM
CGNC..... I hate to disagree with you, but I will be pulling for the Tigers.
Posted by: raizecane | January 13, 2020 at 07:17 PM
Raize....which Tigers??? haha I am going Bayou Bengal. The battle of the Death Valley Tigers - both teams
Posted by: CGNC | January 13, 2020 at 07:48 PM
Saban part of the team on ESPN - very boring voice, hard to listen to him. Needs to work on that if he wants to get into broadcasting
Posted by: CGNC | January 13, 2020 at 07:49 PM
I'm going to pick LSU.

I am going to pick Clemson.

I just want a good game!!!
Saban dresses so bad....who dresses that clown?
Get on him CGNC!
Posted by: VA Cane | January 13, 2020 at 08:20 PM
58 and 86 - LOL.
VA - between the voice - monotone like the teacher in the Charlie Brown cartoon and the suit, dunno. He sure can coach though.
Posted by: CGNC | January 13, 2020 at 08:23 PM
I got to pull for Clemson...K'von Wallace #12 is my player....played for me 2 seasons....great kid will be drafted...will give me 4 kids in the NFL...he is tough as hell...came from the hoods of Richmond to me...he lived in a kill zone...parents wanted better...his folks knew Clelin Ferrells parents...they are distant kin....so they got him to me....he is a great kid...talked to him last night..he ready to hit!!!!

Posted by: Beyond Basura | January 13, 2020 at 09:42 PM
Live by the blitz u die by the blitz. Clemson's dee plays fast, the way we should play.
Posted by: The Herb | January 13, 2020 at 10:15 PM
I want the Fins to trade up and draft Burrow but they will probably not do that and get Tua with the bad hip
Posted by: CGNC | January 13, 2020 at 10:16 PM
Hate to say but after watching first half, our level of playing is about âbaby leagueâ compared to these two! We donât belong in the same parking lot much less field as these guys.
Posted by: CaneWarrior | January 13, 2020 at 10:40 PM
The way we blocked, I doubt we could get a pass off against Clemson.

I hope our switch to the spaRed propels us the way it did LSU on offense.
Good for coach OH. He deserved it and knocked that little ole Clemson out and secured our record of 34 straight.
Posted by: HerbiIbis | January 14, 2020 at 12:27 AM
D'Eriq King is in the portal. Bump worry about Costello or Brown, this is the dude Manny needs to go after and I mean yesterday.
Arkansas might have inside track because of Kendal Briles and a supposed desire to play in the SEC.
What killed Clemson was the cream puff schedule. They were lucky to get by OSU.
This conference that we play in the All Cup Cake hurts u more than it helps u in preparation against top tier teams. Yes we are a cup cake at present!.
Posted by: HerbieIbis | January 14, 2020 at 12:36 AM
And have been a cup cake for longer than todayâs players have been âfoosball-consciousâ...

Joe Burrow throws for 16 TD's last season and follows that up with 60 this season.
Posted by: raizecane | January 14, 2020 at 07:11 AM
Lashlee is a step in the right direction. I wanted Enos to work out, but what a disaster. Must admit, CGNC (and others) knew the truth of him far earlier than I.
Word of warning... thereâs SO much more going on than simply the type offense, itâs going to take a couple of years to right the ship IF Manny is the right guy for the job. That he is taking action now is a good sign, but if U think heâs learned every lesson he needs to learn in just ONE season as a HC, U r mistaken. Rome wasnât built in a day after all and all the years of FAN SUFFERING donât mean squat when it comes to CMDâs progression into a decent head coach (or lack thereof, weâll see).
My take on LSU... glad they won, kind of - ending Clemsons won streak yada yada. BUT look at the coaches and programs in the SEC West... the head winds making the SEC attractive to recruits (talent) are just getting stronger and the âbest of the restâ are 17 points behind. Thereâs no reason UM shouldnât be an ACC contender every year. Making the leap from also-ran conference contender to legit NC title contender is probably more difficult than itâs ever been. Ask OU...
I think LSU now is what Miami could have been IF weâd taken big risk and made a radical hire after Coker. I was a huge Randy Shannon fan & supporter (till I wasnât), but hindsight being 20/20, that was our perfect moment to make a break with the past (adapt leading edge offense) while still being able to attract serious talent. Also the timing was before the domination of the SEC got so overwhelming to making recruiting against them as a conference close to impossible. Likewise, if Coker had made a hire/change like Oregon did he might have kept his job. That was an inflection point when return to national relevance was very possible.
Posted by: DallasTX Cane | January 14, 2020 at 07:14 AM
DTXCane,
I like the Lashlee hire too, and I love his interview and what it communicates to the current players and recruits.
But CMD's interview about incoming recruits, IMHO, is not on the same level. You just don't see many HCs of major programs making the kind of statements that CMD does. CMD might be a good salesman to the public, but his comments can often appear to be unnecessary veiled shots at his current players--players he will need to turn this program around.
Inspiration starts at the top. IMHO, CMD should study the good coaches and learn their interview techniques, or stop giving interviews about the offense entirely.
CMD still has a lot to learn. I hope he gets out of the way and allow Lashlee to run the offense.
