This blog is a tribute to Canes fan Herbieibis...
All of the elite athletic department folks look down at us with contempt.
Head coaches have done the same when questioned about their failures.
The media thinks we know nothing and we should leave the analysis to them.
To all of these educated yet narrow minded people we say: Choke on it!
The Armchair Boyz have been right every time and right from the beginning.
When Larry Coker lost his team leaders in Reed and Gonzalez and then proved couldn't recruit worth a damn because he was old and tired and relied on scouting system ratings of players we called him out. The next thing you know he had a punter playing at wide receiver and Coker had lost his mojo. Plus his QB recruits were awful. The Armchair Boyz saw it and called it out. And then, just like that likable Larry went on to stepping down the road in a sour mood.
When Randy Shannon was hired to save the program we cut him some slack. As a former player, defensive coach and local guy made good we thought OK, maybe we have something here. But it wasn't long before we figured out that he couldn't lead or gather a staff worth supporting. He then proceeded to alienate the local high school coaches and even the media turned on him. He then told Joe Rose on live radio: "Don't call the dogs out Joe". The Armchair Boyz saw what was happening and the dogs were readily summoned and Hurricane Randy was politely shown the way out the door.
When Al Golden arrived in what seemed a total surprise in the middle of the night riding on his 12 pillars of something or other that only he could describe (and zero accomplishments to show for it) the Armchair Boyz said: "Who is this tie wearing JoPa disciple coming here to fatten and slow our defense down to where the looked like dough boys on a cold winter day?" Nope, the Armchair Boyz were having none of that. D'Onofrio became D'No in short order and Golden apparently sank his ship with his butt buddy on a reef in Key Largo visiting Jimmy Johnson. Kehoe promised us. They have not been seen since.
Ah, and then stepped in the eventual and true Savior of the program, experienced head coach and former 'Cane QB Mark Richt. Fresh from his firing at Georgia where it was alleged that he couldn't win the big game, he came to Miami just to win enough to well, you know, enjoy life in shorts and sandals. Miami is kinda casual like that if you know what I mean?
But Marky-Mark seemed old and tired and at times disinterested. The Armchair Boyz saw that which is why he left fat and happy after just a few years and a hefty buyout clause. But then more empanadas are better than less, I guess?
And now we arrive at Manny, Manny, Manny. Oh, where do we even start? He left for Temple to replace Geoff Collins who went to Georgia Tech. Then Geoff beat Manny in his first year. Manny had a cup of coffee in Philly and said well maybe this ain't for me and high tailed it back to Miami at the URGENT wishing of UM AD Blake "Head Fake" James to apparently assume Richt's place among the scrap heap of recent coaches at Miami.
Surely Temple was hurt by Manny's sudden departure and incredible turn of events. Or well, maybe not so much. We'll never know.
When Diaz was announced we the fans pretended to be excited. Even for a brief minute (Turnover Chain) the Armchair Boyz were encouraged. This was going to be "The New Miami"! Whatever that meant it had to be good, right?
And then, well, it wasn't. It was worse than the old, really old MIami. It was worse than anything we had ever seen. And I mean ever and that's a long time. We got beat badly by ACC opponents North Carolina (first year coach), Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech (first year coach), and Duke. Add to that being beaten by inter-city rival FIU and former UM coach Butch Davis. Could it get worse?
And then it did. In the bowl game we scored ZERO points against La Tech after allegedly doing something call "practicing" for several weeks. The Armchair Boyz were clearly not happy. It simply doesn't get any worse than that.
So now we are signing off as the Armchair Boyz in recognition and consolidation behind Herbieibis who says: "I'm hurt dawg, don't ask me if I'm hurt."
Sum big boys wanted Manny and Blake gone. I guess Manny is going to have to relish this pressure for the next year. No need to take a breathe or sit. I betcha there won't be no taking crap and babying players no MO! Leave the tudes at the door.

Sully right on.
Manny hired all the guys he is firing
He made the mess, but he has the guts to make changes, I think we are better off than if he fired Enos mid season and hired an out of work OC to finish the season.
I am watching CGNC and OGV a lot closer, they seemed to smell out kaa kaa a lot quicker than the rest of us.

The more I read about "Lash" the more convinced I am Williams will never get the ball out quick enough to attack with this offense even playing in shotgun. I think you are gonna have to read the defense a lot quicker than Jarren is used to.
Jeff Thomas may be kicking himself in the ass by mid season next year.
SMUs leading receiver had 164 targets last year.

More breaking news: Rumph and Patke are OUT, I repeat both are OUT
Posted by: IraqiCane | January 04, 2020 at 01:22 PM
And just like that, they are GONE!

Dannyboycane corrected himself at 3:30.
“ OK have to update some info here. I erred when I said Rumph and Patke are out. That is NOT the case. The following is via Harris:
Rumph and Patke are staying.
Barry left last week
Stubbs is OUT but they haven't announced it yet and likely won’t until next week.”

I hope you all realize Danny Boy Cane is not well mentally and is constantly being trolled by people into believing the craziest things you'll ever read.
Remember back in the day when he broke the story that Gruden was coming but was being forced to keep D'Nofrio as DC as a cost saving measure?
Please don't believe anything that poor guy says.

Zo is going to be the next head of football operations at #Miami. This was Blake’s call to make the move. Manny had no say in this.

If Blake overruled CMD on this, then I definitely respect that. Can’t let politics continue to ruin out program. CMD needs a lot of help, whether he knows it or not. Now, with Lashlee here, I get the feeling that Blake shelled out $1-1.5 million to get him here. If so, I have to give Blake credit where it is due. He recognized that CMD isn’t ready, and he is putting some pieces around him to make this team better

Guy's like Strong and Leavitt could mentor Manny.
Go 'canes!

‘Sota,
I love the idea of bringing in Strong or Leavitt to mentor CMD. He doesn’t have it YET, although I love that Blake helped him by bringing in Lashlee and Highsmith.
Leavitt and Strong can flat out coach some defense. I would love to have one of them replace Baker

Although Rumph and Patke are staying, it’s great to hear that Subblefield and Baker are leaving. I will take that trade any day! Rumph is obviously not an elite recruiter, but he coaches his CBs up. Also, a few more wins during the season will help him recruit better.
I have seen them both work camps. Patke is really invisible as far as coaching up campers. I wasn’t impressed, but at least he tries to recruit them.
Rumph does really coach up the campers, but IMHO, Rumph is also uneccessarily very hard on campers, and I even saw him scold campers for hanging out at the Gatorade tent too long. It’s old school effective coaching, but is there really a need to chastise or discipline prospects who have multiple options BEFORE they sign an LOI? I think that could be part of his recruiting problems.

If Manure thinks there is nothing wrong on the defensive side, especially with Patke, he really is clueless. If we played against any of the top 4 from last weekend or Bama we would get lambasted. The defense is good for the Acc but hierarchy, the top 10 nah. Aside from Ruesau, no dominate players.

U guys need to head over to Canesinsight and read what D money found out about a meeting held yesterday between big boosters and Jake Blames. Big Money offered to make changes and also booster offered to pay Highsmith's salary for 2 years and Blake turned it down. Now the story is Highsmith talking with Oregon and is expected not to come. WTF. Blake wanted Highsmith basically as a paper pusher.
Posted by: Herbiibis | January 04, 2020 at 06:44 PM
If we loose the first game to Temple. I want both Blake James and Manny Diaz fired!!!

If they are ‘big boosters’ and James blows them off, why don’t they effing fire his butt (or work towards firing him)?
Posted by: AeroCane | January 04, 2020 at 08:09 PM
Manny & Blake are the smartest men in the room. They don't need any more outside help... OBVIOUSLY!!!
Highsmith would be of NO help, and Baker, Patke, and Barry are all the BEST coaches out there! Why look for anyone else?
These current coaches and AD have accomplished SO MUCH already, and gotten the MOST out of all of our players, and developed them to an elite standard!
No more oversight or help needed, dammit!
Lashlee was only hired to save their a$$es from being fired immediately.
I'm with Terrance, I'll believe it when I see it... (around next Thanksgiving... ) We are still in the hands of losers until they prove otherwise.

It’s official: CMD and Blake James are on the hot seat. Win or go home. Next season will be a pressure cooker. We obviously aren’t interested in being an elite football program. Based on this, IMHO, CMD needs to reach 8-5 to barely save his job. If the Canes are 3-3 at midseason, CMD is gone. Vault that!
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | January 04, 2020 at 09:14 PM
We "Armchair Boyz" OBVIOUSLY know nothing.
The BOT, AD, and Head Coach have this WELL UNDER CONTROL!
Posted by: roachcane77 | January 04, 2020 at 09:23 PM
Some of you folks are funny. Manny does something slightly positive and you all start giving him a pass like he isn’t the worst UM Head Coach in our lifetime. And now we’re annointing this Lashlee guy as our saving grace as if our team isn’t full of crappy players and sh*ty coaches.

Canes men basketball on ESPN prime time. Not fairing so well due to the son of a former Cane (Vernon Carey). Canes hung in there at the beginning of the game, but Duke has been pulling away in the second half.

From the Sentinel:
If you thought losing to Florida International, Duke and Louisiana Tech brought the merciful end to Miami’s season, look again. There’s a civil war inside the program that says the ugliness didn’t stop when the season did.
Board of Trustee members and big boosters are beyond upset. They’re pounding tables, threatening change — and want Highsmith hired, pronto, because they don’t trust James or Diaz to succeed without help. And why should they trust them? What has either done to inspire answers?"

Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | January 05, 2020 at 12:24 AM
It’s good to see Tannehill get a playoff win (against Bellicheck and Brady of all people), although it helps to have that Titans defense, that offensive line and Derrick Henry backing you up. 8-15 for 72 yards isn’t great, but he made the plays he had to. This may be as far as the Titans go, but it’s a great win for Tannehill.

. . . saw the above post and am wondering if we're reading the same blog
. . . all i saw was a bit of mild positivity due to false reports of multiple cane-coach-firings + false highsmith-hiring report
. . . i have seen literally ZERO get-out-of-jail passes being given to manny
that said, if there's not at least a slight mona lisa smile from the lashlee hire, then why be a canes fan at all?

Where are all the Coach L fans this morning?
UM played # 2 Duke last night at home on ESPN. And we only lost by (only) 33 points. Our best player, Chris "Mighty Mouse" Lykes, made 2 of 15 shots. Our rebounding and team defense was largely nonexistent.
Our next game is Tuesday against # 7 L'ville, which lost yesterday to FSU by 13 points. Hopefully, we won't lose to the Cardinals by 13 points (or more).
Posted by: nemo2020 | January 05, 2020 at 09:10 AM
The thing that a lot of you guys on here don't realize is that the ENTIRE offensive staff was dismissed. New staff comes in and out offense is still not up to par. What was the difference. The same damn kids on the team from a year ago. The defense got some new coaches. Now the defense looks BLAH especially in the secondary...Did you not see who we had and how they were playing? John's and Joe's are better than X's and O's. Lashlee will need time to develop and implement. Hopefully he can spark and these kids can pick it up and run with it. Also sounds like some panicking may be occuring in house. Guys are feeling the pressure of sinking and will do stupid things to survive. We shall see who has the fortitude under pressure.

💯! No one can dispute that Lashlee was a great hire — since it is clear CMD will be here to start the 2020 football season, we all are all hopeful that CMD will learn from his horrendous mistakes and will grow into a better coach, because we know he isn’t a good coach right now.
We shall see how this Lashlee hire plays out next season. The schedule sets up very nicely for the Canes next season. The great thing about this hire is that if CMD doesn’t improve, IMHO, this will be his last season
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | January 05, 2020 at 10:02 AM
Good post Killer.
It is always a combination of coaching AND players that lead to success or failure. But it still comes down to the coaches to either recruit the right players or better players and then to coach them up to maximize their talent and then put them in the best possible position to utilize the skill sets.
If the team fails the right guard or strong safety is not getting fired. The head caoch is.
It has always been this way and will always be this way.
Posted by: 86Cane | January 05, 2020 at 10:07 AM
UMike...got it.
Posted by: 86Cane | January 05, 2020 at 10:08 AM
Killerbeez: LOL we know that. The entire offensive staff was dismissed and replaced with one that was worse. If there are any divas on the team, they need to hit the transfer portal and the coaches should identify those players. do you think Saban would tolerate it? I think the horrific offensive play trickled down to the defense. In the end Mandy lost the team, especially after his social media indicating the new recruits "will fix this". What does that say to your current players that you recruited?
I don't blame Diaz too much - he should never have been hired for this job - didn't need to get his HC start at a P5 school. He is in over his head. This falls on Blake James.
I hope Lashlee does well, we are so at the bottom, improvement should not take long :-)
