This blog is a tribute to Canes fan Herbieibis...
All of the elite athletic department folks look down at us with contempt.
Head coaches have done the same when questioned about their failures.
The media thinks we know nothing and we should leave the analysis to them.
To all of these educated yet narrow minded people we say: Choke on it!
The Armchair Boyz have been right every time and right from the beginning.
When Larry Coker lost his team leaders in Reed and Gonzalez and then proved couldn't recruit worth a damn because he was old and tired and relied on scouting system ratings of players we called him out. The next thing you know he had a punter playing at wide receiver and Coker had lost his mojo. Plus his QB recruits were awful. The Armchair Boyz saw it and called it out. And then, just like that likable Larry went on to stepping down the road in a sour mood.
When Randy Shannon was hired to save the program we cut him some slack. As a former player, defensive coach and local guy made good we thought OK, maybe we have something here. But it wasn't long before we figured out that he couldn't lead or gather a staff worth supporting. He then proceeded to alienate the local high school coaches and even the media turned on him. He then told Joe Rose on live radio: "Don't call the dogs out Joe". The Armchair Boyz saw what was happening and the dogs were readily summoned and Hurricane Randy was politely shown the way out the door.
When Al Golden arrived in what seemed a total surprise in the middle of the night riding on his 12 pillars of something or other that only he could describe (and zero accomplishments to show for it) the Armchair Boyz said: "Who is this tie wearing JoPa disciple coming here to fatten and slow our defense down to where the looked like dough boys on a cold winter day?" Nope, the Armchair Boyz were having none of that. D'Onofrio became D'No in short order and Golden apparently sank his ship with his butt buddy on a reef in Key Largo visiting Jimmy Johnson. Kehoe promised us. They have not been seen since.
Ah, and then stepped in the eventual and true Savior of the program, experienced head coach and former 'Cane QB Mark Richt. Fresh from his firing at Georgia where it was alleged that he couldn't win the big game, he came to Miami just to win enough to well, you know, enjoy life in shorts and sandals. Miami is kinda casual like that if you know what I mean?
But Marky-Mark seemed old and tired and at times disinterested. The Armchair Boyz saw that which is why he left fat and happy after just a few years and a hefty buyout clause. But then more empanadas are better than less, I guess?
And now we arrive at Manny, Manny, Manny. Oh, where do we even start? He left for Temple to replace Geoff Collins who went to Georgia Tech. Then Geoff beat Manny in his first year. Manny had a cup of coffee in Philly and said well maybe this ain't for me and high tailed it back to Miami at the URGENT wishing of UM AD Blake "Head Fake" James to apparently assume Richt's place among the scrap heap of recent coaches at Miami.
Surely Temple was hurt by Manny's sudden departure and incredible turn of events. Or well, maybe not so much. We'll never know.
When Diaz was announced we the fans pretended to be excited. Even for a brief minute (Turnover Chain) the Armchair Boyz were encouraged. This was going to be "The New Miami"! Whatever that meant it had to be good, right?
And then, well, it wasn't. It was worse than the old, really old MIami. It was worse than anything we had ever seen. And I mean ever and that's a long time. We got beat badly by ACC opponents North Carolina (first year coach), Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech (first year coach), and Duke. Add to that being beaten by inter-city rival FIU and former UM coach Butch Davis. Could it get worse?
And then it did. In the bowl game we scored ZERO points against La Tech after allegedly doing something call "practicing" for several weeks. The Armchair Boyz were clearly not happy. It simply doesn't get any worse than that.
So now we are signing off as the Armchair Boyz in recognition and consolidation behind Herbieibis who says: "I'm hurt dawg, don't ask me if I'm hurt."

I spoke to a couple of coaches at local high schools, and they believe that the Canes are slow to recruit players than other programs and that there is a lack of trust and rapport between local coaches and Canes coaches. I also hear that the Canes “brand” is suffering with the losing, and the lack of experience on the coaching staff and with CMD himself .
Of course, these coaches admit that winning changes everything, so hopefully, Lashlee can help turn things around on offense and that will help recruiting

Hell, we used to have a basketball team of WR's, now we have smurfs. Wiggins is the tallest at 6'3 and Hightower was 6'2.
Wouldn't have a problem crooting, if Manny got rid of some of his no recruiting butt buddies. Late for the date and can't get out da gate. That's us. Recruit speed how about it. It's like the Hodges kid. 4.8 forty why were we even on this snail. Yes our record don't help the cause and losing to a bunch of down trodden programs stinks but you need legit coaches who can recruit, not guys who recruit the back water swamps of Louisiana. Said it a million times, I like Rumph but the dude is no help on the crooting trail. U can get by without much help from him if u had a couple ace recruiters, which we don't. I was pulling Manure but he made this bed burn and now with his freaking job on the line, only because that gutless AD is a Jerry Jones clone, he won't make the necessary changes. So flame out moron.

Well I do believe we might need a few more WR'S. We currently have 4 plus 3 incoming freshmen and that's if Pope don't leave.
Tell the The Herb where we getting them. Did someone say the transfer portal, I dam well thought so. We ain't got one dam good recruiter who could flip a pancake!
Ask me how many CB'S we got? Legitimately 3 and one who plays former plus one incoming freshman. That is pathetic. Where we going to get one from. Did someone say the transfer portal again? Dam straight! Oh we will beat the back roads and probably try and flip some kid from Betty Cookman and then comes the infamous line "under the radar". Ain't body in Florida an under the radar. What they mean is under an effing rock because that is the only way this hapless group would find anyone now and that's if they tripped over it and if they don't trip over it then they always have the safety net, The Transfer Portal our only excitement.

Mike Rumph an X-factor in Hurricanes’ recruitment of four-star 2021 cornerback
The Miami Hurricanes appear slim at cornerback with just four on scholarship returning next season and one signed in the incoming 2020 recruiting class, but they’re making strides in the recruitment of a four-star 2021 cornerback.
Markevious Brown, who is from Pahokee but plays at IMG Academy in Bradenton and is ranked by Rivals as the No. 19 cornerback in his class, has UM in his top seven with Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi State and Penn State.

An X-factor for the Hurricanes in recruiting him: Having Mike Rumph as cornerbacks coach.
“I feel like Mike Rumph can take my game to the next level being my position coach, developing me into one of the best cornerbacks in college football and taking my game to the next level, which is the NFL,” Brown said at a tryout event for his 7-on-7 team, Florida Fire, on Sunday morning at Milander Park in Hialeah.
Brown likes that Rumph was successful himself playing the position, being a part of Miami’s 2001 national championship team before becoming a first-round pick in the 2002 NFL draft.

“Definitely,” Brown said of prioritizing having a coach that was able to play the game at a high level himself. “That might be my top priority.”
Brown detailed what his conversations with Rumph entailed.
“Just the program, the phases that it’s going through and all the things that’s going on with the coaching staff and where I can fit in at the school,” he said.
Brown added that his family is full of Miami fans and that he’s familiar with the program’s history. He shared his thoughts on the Hurricanes’ disappointing 6-7 season.
“I feel like Manny Diaz [is] coming in trying to change the culture, getting them back to the old Miami, ‘The New Miami,’” Brown said.

“It’s going to come soon,” he said. “My commitment [is] going to come as a surprise, so it might be tomorrow. It might be next week. It might be three months, but it’s definitely going to come as a surprise.
“I think I feel I know what I want to do. I know where I want to be. I think when I pick this one school, it’s going to be the school I stick with.”
With Trajan Bandy declaring a year early for the NFL draft, the Hurricanes return sophomores DJ Ivey and Al Blades Jr. and freshmen Te’Cory Couch and Christian Williams at cornerback. They have a three-star prospect in Marcus Clarke signed in the 2020 recruiting class and will likely look to add another cornerback before National Signing Day in February.

Posted by: CGNC | January 07, 2020 at 02:13 PM
Wow,
Everybody knows Rumph played in the league and as I have said, I think the dude is a good coach BUT he isn't a finisher on the trail. What's he brought in maybe 3 CB'S in 4 years? We got the Miami guys, guys that were coming no matter what, it's being able to get guys that maybe aren't Miami diehards that is his downfall.
That position has been an albatross for the last 3 or 4 years. We struggle getting even tweeners to fill a spot at that position. CB should not ever be a position of struggle, especially in Florida, maybe linebacker and OH linemen but not Corner or Safety.
Posted by: HerbieIbis | January 07, 2020 at 03:29 PM
Solar,
It is good to see that at least one CB prospect from South Florida. Markevious Brown, who is from Pahokee/the Muck (now at IMG) values Rumph. The Muck produces NFL talent.
We all acknowledge that Rumph needs to work South Florida better, and Brown could be a great start.
From the 2019 class, Te’Cory Couch is from South Florida, but Christian Williams is from Louisiana, and the 2020 incoming CB is Marcus Clark, who is from Central Florida. Couch, Williams and Clark will be good, but we need more CBs, and South Florida always produces a ton of CBs. Hopefully Brown signs, and that this is also a sign of things to come from Rumph going forward.
I just think Rumph needs to play the game with these recruits a little better==no need to be harsh until they sign an LOI. Of course, winning will help recruiting as well.

The Herb wants to pose a question for all The Arm Chair Boyz out there, with the 6 to 7 ships we have left, what positions need the most help?
We all know OH line is number one but my numbers would be like this:
2 Oh Linemen (both Portal)
2 CB'S
1 portal QB
1 WR (portal)
1 LB or best available
Preferably most of the portal guys would have more than one year. Oh line it needs to be immediate help regardless if a Sr. Or not.

It was full of South Floridians including two prospects currently committed to the Miami Hurricanes for the Class of 2021 – Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna Prep placekicker Andres Borregales and Miami Central offensive lineman Laurence Seymore.
Borregales, who is ranked by 247Sports as the nation's top specialist for the next recruiting cycle, was the only kicker named to the first-team. He connected on 12 of 15 field goal attempts this season and with a long of 57 yards for a Lions' squad that went 12-2.

39. Independence Bowl (pregame rank 27) -- Louisiana Tech 14, Miami 0: In last year's rankings, the Cheez-It Bowl finished No. 1. Now, it was not a pretty football game. It was ugly, but there was a beauty to that ugliness that made the game unique and fun in a way that epitomized what bowl season should be about. As I watched the Independence Bowl, I saw numerous tweets from people comparing it to last year's Cheez-It Bowl. I have never wanted to reach through a computer screen and slap people so badly. There was nothing fun about this game. It was like driving through Indiana for three hours. There was nothing to see, and it felt like it lasted six hours.
The Canes have now lost three straight bowl games, scoring just 3 combined points in their last two (49-3).

have you been following the canes?
coach L had a fantastic season about 2013? '14?
. . . then seemed like someone left a basket full of snakes in his room, cause between injuries to important people and the NCAA kick-in-the-groin, he's sported more snake bites than the serpentarium's haast
. . . recruiting for a no-basketball-tradition school, like miami, the need to not have a string of out-of-your-hands bad luck is crucial to success
as nemo so aptly sung, "you may be right ... i may be wrong"
but i don't know if anyone can tell at the moment
- what is very clear, is that he took students like vasiljevic & sam wardenburg and over time, helped them to really up their game; and he's doing a decent job with schrimp-man, too
. . . looking forward to seeing what kind of leap the frosh can make next season, cause we don't have enough fire power yet, for there to be success this season
- with deng gak out the entire year, we really need for keith stone to overcome his injuries and be able to be out on the floor, so that a wounded wardenburg can get some needed rest for his leg problem (knee? achilles?); but wardenburg was fighting like a bulldog out there last night; good to see he's upped his inner tyson
- i was hoping rodney miller would be more of a force this year; but he doesn't have a very large "it" factor

ALPINE & AC
"Have you been following the canes? Coach L had a fantastic season about 2013? '14?"
Actually, Coach L's "fantastic season" was 2012-2013 when UM finished first in the ACC. In the postseason, that team reached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. That was a long time ago! Moreover, that team was largely comprised of seniors who he inherited from Coach Haith (and not his own recruits).
The following year, 2013 - 2014, the team finished 10th in the ACC and it did not even go to the postseason NIT.
I think the time has come for Coach L to step aside, so UM can step up it's basketball program.
Although we are not likely to ever be perceived as a "basketball school" like Duke, NC or VA (each of which ACC schools also has a pretty good football team these days), our men's basketball coach ought to be able to regularly field teams at least as good as ACC "football schools" such as FSU, VT and BC.
As I said in a previous post, "I may be wrong" about Coach L. Then again, I may be right!
If UM finishes near the bottom of the ACC again this year (after finishing 11th last year), perhaps the Laranaga apologists may (reluctantly) have to concede that I am more right than wrong.
But the 2019-2020 season is still young. Hopefully, Coach L and the Marvelous Midget can win enough of the remaining ACC games to lead UM back into the NCAA tournament and thereby prove that I am more wrong than right!

Canes,
Going after Newman and Brown for portal help at Qb, when they need to be going after D'Eriq King, late of Houston.
Brown would be coming back from a knee injury that cut his season in half.
Newman seems to be linked to Oregon, depending on OC hire.
Brown maybe headed back to be BC depending on their OC hire.

I guess the 2015-16 Miami Hurricanes Team that Finished 27-8 (13-5 in ACC Play) and finished ranked in the Top 10 in both Polls and went to the Sweet 16 that Year as well before losing to eventual Champion Villanova was trash Huh Nemo once again with the Fake News lol. Both the 2012-13 and 2015-16 Miami Hurricanes were Fantastic Teams. It's Fine to want Coach L to step aside and ride off into the Sunset but you don't have to lie to kick it in my Silkkk The Shocker Voice.

1- yes, 2012, (thank you) . . . coach L put a special gel in that group! which had not been a special group 'til that season
2- the 5 starters all left the next year, including the sophmore larkin, so of course there was a rebuild
3- over the next few seasons we had some very decent players, like sheldon mcclellen, rodriquez, davon reed
. . . and bruce brown; a one-and-done, who was also injured the later part of the season
. . . and lonnie walker; one-and-done
. . . but we didn't seem to get enough good bodies at the same time, so possibly that's L's fault
4- BUT if the NCAA doesn't screw L with both hernandes & the "payment scandal", we could have seen what his teams & vision were capable of
. . . instead, the only true junior we have is lykes (+ the redshirt sophmore deng gak, out injured last year and now this year) and we don't have a single true sophmore
. . . that's how 2 years of NCAA nut-squeezing helped our recruiting
- after NCAA finally let go, coach L somehow got 3 very decent frosh; but they're not "one & done doughboys"
- so i'm thinking, "yeah, what kind of basketball genius wants to come work here? maybe they're out there? but i still don't think it's easy to fully judge L
. . . which is my main point

Ever notice how in 15 years of this crap no one has ever uttered a word against the women's Tennis, Track Swimming or Basketball coaches?.
Seems like every coach with a vagina besides Manny is doing their job.

Hey TMS!
What lie?
Coach Laranaga is in his ninth year at UM. Notwithstanding the fantastic 2012 - 2013 season (with some star players he inherited from Coach Haith) when the team finished first in the ACC with an outstanding 15 - 3 record, and the other really good season you mentioned, 2015 - 2016 (when UM finished with a 13 - 5 record in ACC play), OVERALL as UM's head coach Jim Laranaga's winning record in ACC games is only about 55 percent.
Not good!
No lie!

Both the 2012-13 and 2015-16 Miami Hurricanes were Fantastic Teams. It's Fine to want Coach L to step aside and ride off into the Sunset but you don't have to lie to kick it in my Silkkk The Shocker Voice.

Man I hope I don't EVER get called out by Terrance on this here blob. That dude has a photographic memory of everything Canes dating back to the dark ages (pre-1983).
