appreciate the write-up, soup!

. . . was feeling good about our #18, until i saw 8 ACC teams better'n us
including #2 FSU

. . . that took a buzzsaw to the joy-jugular, which bled out the "j", leaving the "oy"

. . . in german, "weh" means "pain" and is pronounced "vey"

= "oy veh" in the miami i grew up in

Great Stuff Go Canes!

roachcane77

Our Hurricane Women's Tennis team is consistently at or near the top of the country year after year.

If you've never seen them play LIVE, you REALLY need to look at their schedule and GET THERE! (You won't be disappointed!) Win or Lose it's ALWAYS a great product. (Unlike many U football games I've wasted my money on... )

Great job SOUP! Let's Go CANES!

New photo is up of TSully and KYCane with two UM ladies tennis players. I had to go back and dig it up from 2015. Good times!

Canes beat USF 7-5 but needed a 2 run homer in the 9th to do it (Gil)

AERO...their confidence is shaken now.

Talking with the kid about loudest
Cane games we remember.

Every FSU game would be on the list in his opinion.

Seems like UCLA 98 sticks in our minds as the bench mark of all loud games.

Then probably the Houston massacre as just plain Cane mob beat down hysteria

He said VTech 2017 Hard Rock was as loud as the Orange Bowl ever got, I wasn't at that one,
you guys have a game that comes to mind as particularly ungodly loud the entire four quarters?

solarcane

Do any of you guys and gals have experience with instant shelter canopies either through tailgating or maybe craft or vendor shows?

I am interested in a canopy about 10 by 10 for use at outdoor vendor shows at drag strips, craft shows car shows and flea markets any input is appreciated.

alpine

lord, the one team i follow (they are ALL from miami) that was actually doing good, was the miami heat
. . . who are now tanking, with horrible multiple losses to the bottom feeders

- oh, and i would have gladly jumped on the canes baseball team bus, if they had showed me they were top 10 worthy, but . . .

- i'm thinkin', when i read the word "miami" in front of a sports team, it usually means, "f#kk me"

Very sad but true

VT and ND in 2017 was extremely loud! The Rock was Shaking! Those 2 Games in particular was 2 of the loudest Games I have ever been to along with some of the Games at OB and other Great Games at places. I literally couldn't hear myself for a couple of days after VT and ND which were consecutive Games. Ha that 3 Game Stretch in November 2017 of VT, ND, and UVA was incredible and then the magic disappeared SMH!

The 1998 game against FSU wasn't that loud, I was there and since UCLA was the same year, it's an also ran in this competition.

Having been at both the Edge/UCLA/Superman game and the 2017 VT game, I can tell you personally, Hard Rock cheats using the roof to keep the sound in and was almost at capacity all the way to the back of the cheap seats. UCLA was like 2/3rds capacity at most, didn't cheat with a roof to keep noise in, and meant way more with less gimmicks to make the players try, so it wins.

Personally, the loudest UM game I was ever at would have been BC in 1984 just based off the noise in the first half, but the rain at halftime cleared out some of the crowd and the 2nd half wasn't nearly as loud in the end zone where Phelan caught the most famous pass in college football broadcast history. At least as a kid that's the impression that I was left with.

HerbieIbis

Another stiff hits the bricks.
If u can't get no reps against Savannah St. U got to suck.
To bad the NCAA can't fix the transfer deal where if a player leaves u can, if u want, go to the portal and get a player. At the rate players are transfering most teams won't be close to the 85 player limit.
Going to end up letting players transfer one time and be eligible right away is okay but there should be a dead line that it can be done and as long as they have enough credits for their classification grade wise.
Miami will be lucky if they have 75 to 78 players by the end of the first summer session.
Dykstra leaving is just another sign of bad recruiting and evaluation of Searles or reaching just to fill a spot.
A wing and a prayer don't get it and I might add bad coaching!

solarcane

OGV,
I remember walking out after the UCLA game and I couldn't hear what people were saying to me because my ears were humming from the crowd noise during the game.

I also remember having something like laryngitis for a couple hours.
To me UCLA was the loudest and watching Edge was the greatest single Cane performance I ever witnessed.

solarcane

Sully,
Man I wish I had been to those two games in person, watching on TV you get stoked but nothing like being in the stands for a beat down against a team you hate.

solarcane

raize thanks,

Is your canopy reasonably waterproof as far as rain coming straight down on it? Does it have a side wall?
I'm just starting to look for a portable but halfway decent quality product.

I will be at outside venues with stickers, tee shirts, mugs, signs etc for sale.

Solar Yes Sir Brotha!

Games that I remember being the loudest:

As Solar said all of the early FSU games.

But don't forget about the early ND games also.

Specifically 1985 vs ND, UM won 58-7, 1987 #2 UM vs #10 ND UM won 24-0, 1989 #1 ND vs #7 UM. Also 2017 #3 ND vs #7 UM Mimai won 41-8 under Richt.

1986 #1 UM vs #2 Oklahoma and Vinnie vs The Boz. There was so much hype and trash talk going into that game the crowd was psyched. When Vinnie scrambled for like 25 yards and stiff armed one of the OU players on the way it went CRAZY!

1992 #2 UM vs #3 FSU, Wide Right II

2000 #1 FSU vs #7 UM, Wide Right III

2002 #1 UM vs #9 FSU, Wide Left I

2001 UM vs Washington, UM dominated 65-7.

2007 UM vs TAMU under Shannon, UM won 34-17.

58 Straight

And of course 1998 UCLA is up there too, just a much smaller crowd as I recall.

I have sat underneath it during some good showers and it held up. If your getting a 10x10, make sure you get 100 sq ft coverage. I have seen some 10x10 that only cover 80 sq ft. Also, mine does not have a side wall but you can get that option. Just know that if you have a side wall and the wind is kicking, the tent may turn into a parachute.

Solar...I believe they have 10x10 and 12x12 pop-up canopies at all sporting goods stores, Target, Walmart, etc. or you can buy online from the same.

They also sell a separate "side shade" to block the sun but it also helps keep the rain out. Buy the weights (set of 4) that go on the tent legs to hold it down when windy. Always bring a large cooler full of ice and water and some long bungee courds to help achor it if the wind really blows.

Concerning your observation on how the Coronavirus is affecting sporting events which also indicates it will affect everyone in some way soon.

We were at Costco shopping today because it is pretty easy to get around on weekdays.

Not today.
People were there in droves picking up canned goods bottled water paper plates etc.
it looked just like Y2K all over again.
Sadly this time it isn't a hoax

You hit the nail on the head with that soccer stadium post pal

Miami Spring Game snubbed by ACC Network

The April 11 Miami football spring game will be one of five that will not be televised by the ACC Network according to Manny Navarro of The Athletic via Twitter. Navarro posted the information on Thursday afternoon. The Pittsburgh spring football game is the only other one scheduled for April 11.

There was no reason announced why the Hurricanes will not have their spring game televised.

Maybe if manny’s first year wasn’t an epic fail, someone would give a crap about Miami football
Want to bet if we win 10 plus games this year, how quick we are back on the radar

solarcane

Aero,
I like it, I am hoping no one in the ACC has a clue we have a real offensive plan, the less they see before the season opens the better.

AeroCane

Solar
Yep
BUT, all they have to do is watch some film on lashees offensives and film on king and they will have a good idea of what we will be
Now with that said, it makes no difference as if the scheme is as good as I think it will be, and king is the real deal, as I think he is, they can watch all the film they want and they won’t stop us!
Look for pope to have a huge year!

BigWindyCane1

No spring game to be televised? No problem. That’s less film on the Canes offense, which should lead to less film for opponents’ defenses to implement effective game plans.

Traz Powell, the site of the Spring game, has been the Mecca for high school football in South Florida for decades, and the stadium has been recently refurbished and upgraded.

BigWindyCane1

I will trade a televised Spring game for a 5-0 start to the season

AeroCane

Big windy
I guarantee you if we go 5-0 to start the year it’s because of coaching, take to and scheme and not because the ACC network didn’t televise our spring game
Gimme a freaking break

solarcane

We will go 5 0 to start off because Enos Williams and Bubba won't get a shot at losing a game for us.

Start to finish the 83 NC game vs Nebraska has to be up there for me.

Loudest moment has to be the second Trajan Bandy picked off that pass against the Irish a couple of years back. Remember I couldn't sleep the night of that game because my ears were still ringing.

Right with it would be Hester taking the opening kickoff back against the Turds in the Berlin comeback game.

As far as our Spring game not being on TV, I think that has more to do with no one in South Florida having the ACC Network than anything else.

Thanks again Comcast.

raizecane

I went to the spring game last year and all it did was give us hope after seeing all 3 QB's playing as if they were they second coming of John Elway only to go on and have an epic failure of a season.

Personally, I have no problem with the spring game not being aired. I can assure you this is a strategic move on Miami's part.

5 - 0?? Anything less then a 6-0 start will be a failure in my eyes based on the powder puff schedule.
