The University of Miami baseball program remains ranked among the top teams in Division I, coming in as high as No. 5 in polls released Monday.
The Hurricanes (11-4, 3-0 ACC) are ranked highest by Baseball America, moving up one spot to No. 5 in their top 25. The Canes also jumped up one spot in the USA Today Coaches Poll, climbing to No. 8.
Miami held its position in three polls, remaining at No. 7 in the D1 Baseball top 25, No. 9 in Collegiate Baseball's poll and at No. 11 in the Perfect Game poll.
The Canes ascent in the rankings comes after they went 3-1 last week, dropping a midweek game at FAU before sweeping Pittsburgh in their first ACC series over the weekend.
Miami bounced back from its first midweek loss of the season with an impressive showing in their first taste of conference play.
One swing of the bat by Alex Toral sent the Miami Hurricanes home winners in their ACC opener on Friday afternoon. The reigning ACC home run king hit a rocket off of Pitt right-hander C.J. McKennitt that got out of Mark Light Field in a hurry, giving the Canes an 11-inning 5-4 walk-off win over Pittsburgh.
Strong pitching and timely hitting helped the Hurricanes secure a series win over the Panthers Saturday night. The Canes (10-4, 2-0 ACC) got another excellent outing from Chris McMahon, while a three-RBI showing from Adrian Del Castillo helped propel Miami's offense to a 5-0 win.
An offensive explosion helped the Canes complete a sweep of their ACC rival with a 14-2 win on Sunday, as Jordan Lala and Anthony Vilar's three-hit performances led an offense that combined for 18 hits in the series finale.
The Canes hit the road this week, traveling to UCF for a midweek matchup on Wednesday at 6 p.m. After facing the Knights, Miami will continue on its road swing for a weekend series at Virginia Tech beginning Friday at 4 p.m.

I got u Tee, no doubt but this cycle, there are 2 top shelf DT'S, that can be dogs for us. Last time we had an elite DT beside Willis was Wilfork. We can get edge rushers all day but that position is where we have flopped over and over. Yes we have had some serviceable dudes that half the the time they are good and other times they are average at best. Florida doesn't have an abundance of really good DT'S.
DB'S, RB's, DE's and WR's there is talent every where.
Last Cycle and this cycle there are some good Oh linemen to be had and the best one already is verballed to Clemson. We caught to be mining Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas for fillers. New Jersey is a state we used to pull talent from.
Florida is a thorn in our side, mainly because kids can still play in state, be closer to home and play in the SEC.
They ain't that great and aside from Georgia that division they play in is weak.

Canes men basketball team had just 6 assists today. The lack of ball movement has been a major issue all season. Spot up jump shots, cuts and layups were rare. Unselfish basketball was nonexistent. The lack of assists is one offensive statistic that must change next season

I don't mean to alarm anyone but I have a feeling Canes Baseball might get suspended for awhile. I also expect the Spring Game will get cancelled. This Corona Virus looks to really be taking a toll on things. Hoping for the best!

lol herb!
- luckily for me, the end of the season felt good enough to overcome the rest of the season
. . . "felt good enough" = i saw enough to give me hope of the track the canes are on regarding next season
- i know the conventional wisdom is "winning is everything", "losing is for losers" and the rest of those clichés . . . but there are some seasons i'm watching for other things, when i know not to expect satisfaction tin the W-L column
. . . after the FBI/NCAA engaged in double-penetration, i knew it would take the canes a couple seasons to be able to "walk" normal again; gotta see my team in the 2nd year (1) progress and (2) play with feistiness

Funny, I was thinking that same thing as I was driving home from the game. I thought back to the game and replayed my interactions with people during the game and I really only interacted with about 7-8 people of which I would say 2 were possibly in the high risk category. No different than a day at work really. But that was in an open air slightly crowded baseball stadium not a packed indoor stadium like basketball during March madness or NVA game.

Hey gang,
Hope you and your families are safe and healthy.
If you are out and about and are able to do it, take a few cans of food or a bag of rice or some diapers and drop it by your local food bank or neighborhood church.
The food banks are drying up and volunteers are becoming scarce.
The underprivileged are the first to suffer and the last to heal during a disaster.
No matter who you vote for, or who you pray to we are all Americans.
I care about every one of you guys and wish you good health.

Jeff Thomas at the 2016 open, where measurables are taken and compare to the NFL combine and he gained all of 3 pounds in 3 years and got a tad slower. This dude must of been skating thru the winter and summer workouts.
Cam Akers from FSU gain 4 LB'S in 3 years lost a little speed and almost 5 in. Off his vert.

4. Rhett Lashlee’s offense is fast, fast, fast
The up-tempo style that Lashlee’s offense runs at is something we all knew going into spring, but now that it’s actually being carried out at Miami in practice, it’s like everyone is just in shock. The Canes are literally going from a slow-moving lethargic type of offense, to the complete opposite.

Pace, pace, and pace. The Canes, on both offense and defense, are moving quickly all the time

Do McCloud and King round everybody up and run playground practices?
Do they use the indoor facility?
Is Coach Freeley going to hold the entire team together until July?
How do they keep the recruits from losing interest?
