I love UM.
I am still trying to understand what has happened in the last few weeks.
I know, however, that everyone reading this is on the same page as me.
Beginning with COVID-19 cases increasing in my hometown, Madrid, transitioning into online school, the cancellation of all professional and collegiate leagues and everything in between, this has been difficult to process, not just for me but for every student-athlete in the country. I personally have had one foot in Miami and another one in Spain, but I have been lucky enough to have the best possible environments and families in both places.
After the NCAA released an announcement saying that spring student-athletes could have an extra year of eligibility, a new window of opportunities and possibilities opened up for me. The fact that both the NCAA and the University of Miami gave me the chance to come back and finish my college career like I had always dreamed was very thoughtful.
Many things went through my mind over the first few days because of a mix of feelings about leaving UM in those unexpected terms and my desire to play professional tennis in the next years. Even though my family has always supported me in every decision I have made, investing in any long-term project is definitely a challenge with all the uncertainty going on.
However, I came to the conclusion that I could achieve both goals while making the most of this incredible opportunity and decided to stay.
I love UM.
This University and tennis program have given me everything to succeed and accomplish my dreams on and off the court. I cannot put into words how much pride and honor I have had while representing the U. Finishing my career like I had always thought I would is something that means a lot to me.
I love UM!
And I love U Estela Perez-Somarriba.
You are what WE are all about. Thank U for your dedication and commitment to The University of Miami women's tennis team.
We love and respect you.

Soup and skool,
White County closes Helen.
All non residents must check out of hotels cabins etc, by 12 noon.
Violators will be issued 1,000 dollar fine or 30 day jail sentence.
Because the virus is very low spread here, the county is not allowing non residents to stay,or visit until further notice.
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine stuff like this happening.
Stay safe stay strong.

Good plan. Solar.
Particularly in light of what's happened in Albany.
The truly scary bit of news is the new estimate that 25 to 50% of the virus carriers show no symptoms, but can still infect others.

When I joked a few years ago that we went "To Helen Back" I had no idea how close we would actually come to be in a living Hell like we are experiencing today.
It was funny then. Now, not so much.

DraftKings latest futures betting lines, the over/under regular season win totals for the Canes is 9 wins, which is second in the ACC behind Clemson at. 11.5. Only nine power five teams have a higher over/under than the Canes

Top 2 LB'S for the Herb were tackling machines, Dan Morgan and Ray Lewis. The knock you're dick in the dirt award to Da Rat!.
Top safeties Shawn Taylor and Ed Reed.
Top DT'S Sapp and Wifork.
To many corners and DE's for me to name 2 of the best but one player who really could of been great but career ruined with a bad knee injury was Rusty Medaris. Dam shame. This dude was on a fast climb.

Herb and Solar,
You got some great names too. They are definitely on my list of great Canes.
I could go on and on, by starting with those who are now in the HOF, and then go to those in the Ring of Honor. There is a long list of great Canes and many defensive players have a special place in my heart.
But ST26 was also very very special. He would have been 37 years old today, but his life was cut short much too early.

The fact probably is IF they could test everybody 25-30% of the population already has it but only 10-20% of those people get severe symptoms and need medical care or hospitalization. Of that population the death rate remains at 1.5-2%.
Depending on your type of work, your work place, when you stopped going to work and your living area and situation (urban vs rural, #of people in the house, etc.) it is highly possible that many of us have it too.
Personal Example: I went to the last two sporting events in early March, The Bay Hill Golf Tourney on March 5th and the UM vs UCF baseball game on March 11. The virus was already in the poulation during these events. It is probably statistically highly likely that I was exposed to the virus at these two events.
Bay Hill attracts people from all over the U.S. and we parked at Universal Studios and went in a charter bus to the tourney. The tourney is outdoors of course but still you get the idea of the risk here.
The baseball game at UCF had people from all over Orlando (think tourism and think Disney, Sea World and Universal Studios) and most of Central Florida. I met several people who drove an hour or two to the game from Melbourne to Jacksonville to Lakeland and Occala.
I worked in the model home in Davenport (near Disney which is a minor hotspot) until March 21. I have worked from home from March 21 and will until April 3 (then by appointment only).
My wife works at a title company in Celebration FL very near Disney. Since real estate was designated as an essential service she has been working everyday and meeting 4-8 small groups of people mainly from Orlando/Central Florida but some from other states who are coming into the office to close on their houses.
It is probably likely that she has been exposed just like everyone else who works in her office or who works in the medical field, food service, grocery stores or gas stations, and well, you get the idea.
So the questions are:
1. Have you likely been exposed? Most likely.
2. Do actively have the virus? Maybe.
3. Do you have symptoms? Most do not. I have a dry cough but no fever or respiratory issues.
4. How severe will your symptoms become? Most not so severe as to need medical treatment.
5. Will you need hospitilization? Only 10-20% of those infected will.
6. Will it kill you? Only 1.5% will die and MOST of those will be elderly OR have underlying health conditions.
Long term is it will be months (6-18) until we have a proven vaccine. They are testing several drugs that may help allieviate the symptoms or lessen the severity of the disease or slow the progression so that is the best hope for the short term.
Be safe, be well.

Already had that dry hacker for 3 days. Sinus and pollen. Took mucinex.
Filed for unemployment, although I am retired I can work 999 hours a year. My boss tells me I had to use my sick before I could get unemployment, so I told him, how can I use sick time, if I'm not scheduled. I work at a lake part time, witch is closed because of the virus. They hurried up and found me a job, what they call an essential worker picking up recyclable cardboard and paper from alot of the city offices.
I hope I don't get this junk, as well as everyone else but being cooped up is like being in a cage. This looks like this is going to be one miserable summer, as well as fall. It's going to take a miracle at this point to even have football.
All that really doesn't matter. It's getting a cure for this stuff, without anymore loss of life, jobs, lay offs, etc. People can't work to even help themselves or their families. The Herb is hitting his knees every night praying. Being retired I have some income but I keep thinking about all those with kids being laid off and unable to provide for their families and it will get worse before it gets better. Hope everyone on here is doing well.
On a final note, The Canes have Patke scoring and offering every 3 star in sight up North. Not one 4 or above mentioned. I guess you would call them plan B's.

I am surprised that we haven't seen a surge in bank robberies lately.
After all, too many Americans are desperate for a cash infusion now. And banks, like other local businesses, are probably operating with reduced numbers of employees. Moreover, a criminal could easily enter a bank wearing a surgical mask (to cover much of the face) and surgical gloves (to block fingerprints and DNA). No one would be suspicious; no one would be alarmed - even while a robbery is in progress.

Great points Nemo!
Banks in VA are closed...all transactions done via phone or window....
As my Pop was FBI 30 years I started shooting guns (.22s) at about 5. My Dad specialized in Soviet Espionage, Hostage situations and was a firearms instructor; he was one of the founders of the FBI Academy in Quantico VA.... the man was one of the best shots I saw...and since I went to alot of his training schools around VA....I saw a lot and learned alot.
Years ago, you could only get a concealed carry with sign off from a Fed judge. When I turned 21..the age for one...Dad got a Fed judge to allow me one....40 years ago...and they were good for life.I have since taken the class and have one via State.
Everyone...if qualified to have a gun...should own, carry at all times, and shoot regularly. We sold our big farm due to moms death, but I still have a small 20 acre farm I shoot on weekly.
I own a lot of weapons rifles, shotguns large caliber semi auto hand guns), but for open or concealed carry I have a Para Ordinance Wart Hog .45 ACP or a Colt New Agent .45 ACP. They are very easily hiddne...and pack a kick. For ammo, I recommend the R.I.P. .45 load. It stands for Radically Intrusive Projectile....very similar to the Black Talon...9 points that intrude and expand when hitting vital organs....one shot is deadly.
I go to places at times as an appraiser to bad places...always carried one. Now to practice or games weightlifting with kids etc I never wear it...but I never leave my house without one.
With this struggle, one may need to defend the home as well. I have rifles shotguns monster handguns in place....I got a lot of ammo from my Dad over the years...probably have 10k rounds in all.
In these times it is critical to arm oneself and spouse everywhere. I love people and I have never had anything but a speeding ticket (1) and expired tag or inspection...but people out here have hate on the heart....defend oneself to the end....Peace through Superior Firepower!

Becareful canespacers. I’m in nyc here where it’s ground zero. Understandable because it’s 10 mill ppl on this small island. And were clustered together. And it spread like wild fire. Were the prime destination for foreign travel from around the world.
I myself caught the virus. I’m on the other side of it. I recovered with mild symptoms, short fever. The body aches were very painful though. The main identifying symptom was the loss of my sense of smell & taste. It was the freakiest part; u have no sinus, no sniffles. Your nose and breathing r perfectly fine. But u just can’t smell shit including, a glass of whiskey, bleach, fragrance. It was really freaky. It was as is if someone flipped a switch & one of your sensory Organs just stopped working.
But I don’t know that the world wide shut down is worth destroying the worlds economy over. I agree it’s a dangerous virus however.

"You see, its basic dog mentality psychology. If you scare them, and get them peeing down their leg, they submit, yet if you project weakness, you draw aggression, and that's how people get hurt. you see, fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will make your worst fears come true. so its simple; you project strength to avoid conflict."

Sad we are at this point, but there are a lot of evil and hateful people out in the world looking for a free ride at the expense of others. If you are armed and trained (MUST be both)....you will make it through. You have to make sure your home is safe and not a target...check security, be aware, know and relate to your neighbors....and be armed and prepared...now and always.
Be safe and hope all are well. I had Sarasotas # but cannot find it...talk to him now and again...if hes out there somewhere hope he calls me!

VA cane! U r a good man. Thank you! Stay safe.
I’m on the other side of it now. I’ve recovered. But the virus remains for a while longer after recovery. So I’m just still in quarantine so I don’t affect others. I give it another week for the virus to be gone from my system.
The one thing I’m happy about is that I have immunity against it now. So I don’t have to be running from ppl in public once I’m negative. That & a cure r really the only solutions.

1. I've got the Mucinex and Tylenol for symptoms and have been taking both along with prebiotics, probiotics, Danactive yogurt drink, Chobani Yougrt drink, really good multi-vitamins, EmergenC mix drink, Elderberry chews with Zinc and C and Echinacea, Tumeric and Black Cherry concentrate.
2. Patke must have some pictures of Diaz that nobody has seen. Only answer I can think of.

Ebay (Brooks Brothers used to make them and some are listed now) Goodwill, Salvation Army or if you have the right connections: a funeral home.
