Brinson says he’s going to try to help recruit a QB, mainly Jake Garcia
We will see but I agree with roach, we can pick up a great transfer next year if machoda and van dyke aren’t up to the task!
Need some studs on defense now since the O coaches are definitely doing their jobs!

Terrance M Sullivan

We Won’t Know If The Coaches are Doing There Jobs until This Fall! Every Year People Wet Their Pants In The Offseason To More Ofteb Than not Pissed Off In The Fall SMH! It’s Cool To Be Hopeful And Like the direction it’s headed but until I See Player Development And Good Coaching I will just have a wait and see approach!

AeroCane

Agree TSully
But I will say this: our offensive key coaches are a proven commodity! That is a given!
Defense, I’m not convinced and thought manny should of made defensive coaching changes
And of course our head coach has proven in his 1 year as a head coach as a total incompetent!
But as you say, time will tell but now is time for optimism.
At this point, I’m more looking at recruiting. It’s the only real thing going on now
And of course, college baseball with the draft just happening
(And all good news for the canes)

Like The Herb said, paper don't mean nuttin.
Got to have something to get excited about and recruiting is it for the time being.
The product on the field is what counts.
With missing those 11 practices, sum dudes are going to have to learn on the fly.
Might be a little helter skelter to begin with but hey Manny said the Oh ain't that complicated. We should start out the gate 4-0, no ifs ands or buts. We got 3 games to navigate. FSU, UNC and Va Tech, all 3 with their QB's back, well so does Pitt.
If our DT'S finally play above their pay grade, the DEE will be stout.
King has to carry us. We have weapons. Even with a half azz line we should average 35 to 38 a game and even when u have a couple down games and everyone has a couple, we still should score 24 to 28.

AeroCane

Good points herb
I think our OL will be better! Just coaching alone will improve the line, but adding Jarrid Is huge. IMO
We do need Donaldson to get healthy and get in shape and he can be a force at guard - not sure it will happen though

Every Year People Wet Their Pants In The Offseason To More Often Than not Pissed Off In The Fall SMH!

This is true. I have had to change my pants numerous times during Spring training after wetting them only to cry in my beer in the parking lot after many a game.

I remember the time where I would NEVER leave a game early. That was soon replaced by I couldn't leave a game soon enough. Seeing the look of PTSD in the faces and eyes of Canes fans at the post game tailgate got really old and prolly took a few years off of my life.

From Inside The U

UM is focusing on three main targets at the quarterback position for this 2021 cycle, all of whom are committed to other programs: USC commit Jake Garcia, Texas commit Jalen Milroe, and LSU commit Garrett Nussmeier.

The Hurricanes are not looking to settle at the quarterback position in this 2021 cycle. Garcia, Milroe, and Nussmeier rank inside the Top 100 of the 247Sports Composite.

Damn! Manny is putting in work. What else can we ask him to do? He’s recruiting great. Killing the portal. Bringing in new coaches. This guy is making the changes he needs to make. I will feel bad for him if he doesn’t win. Because he’s a good coach. And that would mean he gets fired. I hope he’s successful. I always want canes to be successful. But this time for the sake of a hardworking coach. He’s trying y’all. Best offseason effort I remember from any cane coach.

Good post AfriCane! I agree 100%.

For ALL of our sakes, I hope he and the team are successful this season! He seems to definitely be putting in the effort.

Let's Go CANES!🙌🏼

The Herb

That's a fact, he is doing everything possible. The only thing he really lacks, is a very good defensive recruiter. Banda not bad but Rumph, Patke , Baker and Stroud are average at best. I Mean Rumph's good for one good recruit a year. Aside from Huff, all our LB'S are 3 star. McCloud may have been a 4. We need a little more ammo at that position.

This is going to be a very interesting/unusual year in football. Not just due to COVID, I think cultural and political considerations will also impact teams. How coaches, governments (think Mississippi's state flag), and even fans address the black lives matter movement is going to be very important.

Here's a link to a controversy over a shirt Mike Gundy was wearing.

Actually Manny Job is Safe Regardless The Record In 2020 because Miami will not want to buy him out and hire a New Coach in a Budget Constraint Pandemic Year! Now 2021 Better Be Great Or He Might Be Gone By End Of 2021! I Hope It Works Out I Want Our Canes Program To Get Back To the Top Like the Rest Of U!

Wait until the players start getting paid via marketing contracts.

1. Day 1: Johnny 5 Star gets a cool $5 million contract with Nike. His picture is all over TV, billboards and all of the Interetseses.

2. Day 10: Johnny 5 Star tells Head Coach that he doesn't want to practice today because he was out partying at South Beach in the club dropping $100s like $1s. Shows up to practice in his brand new Benz and says: "We talking 'bout practice?" Practice?"

Day 13: Offensive line refuses to practice and goes "on strike", not against the Coach but against Johnny five star because they think he is thinks he is more important thsan the team and they get ZERO dollars to protect the $5 Million Dollar Man.

Day 15: Coach X suspends Johnny 5 Star from team for insubordination and behavior detrimental to team rules.

Day 20: Johnny 5 Star's agent (yes, agent while in college) hires a hire powered civil rights attorney to sue Coach X and school for drectly infringing upon and interfering with Johnny 5 star's right to make a living.

Day 25: NCAA reinstates Johnny 5 star to the team over the coach's and University's wishes in fear of a lawsuit.

Day 30: Now the entire team refuses to practice because coach has no authority to suspend players and what the hell, who cares anyway right?

Bored, looking for something to do. Now you can talk to celebrities on Zoom, for a fee of course.

Cameo, a startup that lets you pay celebrities for personal video messages, now lets users book a 10-minute Zoom call with well-known people. The costliest are former football star Brett Favre for $5,000, ex-NSYNC singer Lance Bass for $1,250 and skateboarder Tony Hawk for $1,000.

$5,000 for Brett Farve?? The call is probably free if you're an FSU coed

roachcane77

I HATE that Johnny 5 star... What an A$$hole!

Scary but it may be very true
Potentially disaster for college sports

The Herb

We'll come to that bridge, when and if we ever get another 5 star.

Terrance Sullivan

Well With Players Like Mark Pope, Wiggins, Harley, and those underachieving OLineMen Soup we at Miami Hurricanes Don’t have to worry about that! Outta of The 20 Something Blue Chip Recruits That Tony And The Other Recruiting Peeps On Here day we have what we got about 3 that play like it lol smh 🤦‍♂️!

Old Skool

Tom calls it 'sort of'

Gundy agrees on a change in culture which I presume means 'play nice"

The gig is up.

The game is over.

Just remember where you read it first.

58 Straight

And just remember that the schools who develop the best media contacts and sponsorship connections will now win the recruiting game. Their will be NO team or local city loyalty. All will go to the highest bidder like in an auction. Gonna be all about the Benjamins.

At least the days of recruits saying "Miami is my dream school" will be gone. They will now say "Can Miami make me some cash flow?" Answer BETTER be YES! Because NO means NO, remember that.

You think Nike is looking for a Jerry Rice at Alcorn State to give a multi-million $$$ contract to or looking at Bama, Clemson, LSU, OSU, ND, Michigan, etc for their next big media star who will play for a National Championship and be on National TV every week???

Be honest with yourselves, this is a seismic shift in the recruiting and coaching game. Recruiting visits will not be about "show me your campus, facilties and your city" instead it will be about "So, what sponsors do you have that will sign me to a lucrative contract?"

58 Straight

This will result in the complete collapse of loyalty and integrity and the new paradigm will be about profit and personal player production.

Think about it this way:

Top rated QB and WR#1 are signed by Nike for $3 million each. RB#1 and WR#2 and TE#1 are not signed by anyone.

Who is QB going to throw to ensure his contract? I mean the Nike money contract has incentives right? Completions, catches, yards, TDs just like the NFL does. Money is on the line.

How many times will QB change the play from a run to a pass to WR #1 because they "are on the same (Nike) team". These are not professional athletes ALL getting paid big money in the NFL trying to win a Super Bowl. These are 18 year old kids that now have $3 million dollars in their bank account while their teammates have ZERO.

At $50,000 a year average work salary a person would have to work 60 years to earn $3 million. No incentive to skew the outcomes there.

I predict bad outcomes.

AeroCane

With that kind of money, you’re now going to have crazy parents pushing their kids from birth so they get their share ie think Todd marinovich- now instead of once in a blue moon, you’ll have it all the time

TheWordFromTheHerb

#1 The Herb believes there will be a cap on amount of money a stud kid can make and that should be across the board.
There should be performance based money a kid can make.
Do it that way based on performance, then a kid is not cutting his own throat by getting a tude or thinking he is above the team
Got to be a hungry and humble clause.
The one thing u will see an increase is in transfers. It should keep these top kids piling up at the top 5 or 6 schools. Can't make money waiting your turn.
Be hard for Bama to stack 3 five star running backs. Some kids that have come from disadvantage backgrounds and need to make money now may be more inclined to go and play for a sorry azz team like Kansas just to get on the field quicker.
Be nice if u could make extra money by staying in your home state to play.
Does a kid like Jacory Brooks decomit from Bama to come back to his home state. 2021 for Florida and there is only 2 other states, both having to wait until 2023 and that's Cali. and Colo. That will be giving players stipends.
NCAA will have to do something quick.
If I'm a high school kid in Florida, I would be stupid to bolt, especially if all the services are pumping me to be a super star talent.
It's coming down to ships or loot. Can't see a kid going to dead valley, Clemson , SC when he can stay here and break bread.

AeroCane

Herb I fixed it - lol

Believes? BELIEVES?

Child please. Show me the rule and i will believe too. The first time a college player makes more than his coach, well, you know.

HerbieIbis

Soup, the key word is cap, a kid could make. If not, in total agreement. If no cap, then all hell breaks loose.

Herbieibis

Strength coach from Iowa, Chris Doyle canned.
Getting to a point where u have to watch everything u do or say. If coaching wasn't tough enough, how u think walking on egg shells barefoot is going to feel.
Not defending any coach but jeez, coach's will spend more time probably defending themselves and assistant coaches for saying the wrong thing. Cuss a kid out u get fired will be next. Be a lot of coaches in the portal.

HerbieIbis

VAN Belle signs with Red Sox.
Takes care of of all our starters.
