I have been promised and guaranteed by cash back rewards by Terrance and KYCane that there is NO WAY we lose any games at any time this season. We are expected to go 12-0 or 10-2 by these experts on Canes football. Watch it happen or watch this blog blow up. Either way we will see!

Dam,
I hope Clemson is the last conference game we play. We ought to be solid by then. Hoped we played Notre Dame, they probably had us on the list of teams they didn't want to play.
Pretty tough schedule.
Got to keep King healthy.
Got to beat the teams we are supposed to beat, which to The Herb, is everyone but Clemson. Could of used of those Duncan Hines cup cakes to pad the resume but it don't matter.

Williams helps pull Taylor and Marshall, anything else is pure gaaaravey!
Pulling Mason from LSU would be epic.
Ships going to get real tight if Collier comes. Really don't need him BUT if it gets Taylor their, I'm all in. Would only leave us with 2 ships, a qb and Marshall by some miracle.
That leaves, Yulkeith Brown, Alexis and Carter out.
Collier forecast to The Gators. Nice problem to have of whose in or out.
Final piece of the puzzle, we can't lay no dam donuts on the field because if that happens, watch ole MO walk out Da Doe!

I especially like the last part down here...

The 11 games will be played over at least 13 weeks with each team having two open dates
There will be one division
Notre Dame will also play a 10-game conference schedule and be eligible to compete in the 2020 ACC Football Championship Game
All television revenue for the 2020 season, including Notre Dame’s home games broadcast by NBC, will be shared equally by all 15 institutions

roachcane77

(From 247sports) The ACC has announced a new 10-game conference schedule for the upcoming 2020 season with conference teams playing a total of 11 games.

Miami will play Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Virginia at home with dates still to be determined. Road games include contests at Clemson, Louisville, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

The season will begin the week of Sept. 7-12.

JCane

Do we have Tony's stats article about the # of overall 4 and 5 star guys on the team year by year over the last decade or so easily accessible? I'd love to review again.

Rix built such a rapport with his favorite target Sean Taylor, that Taylor could have made his college hi-lite reel off of Chris Rix turnovers alone. It’s important that Miami Hurricanes football fans always remember the legend that is Chris Rix. He always came trough in the clutch whenever Miami needed a big play. Always good for timely bonehead plays, he was the sole reason behind 5 Miami victories throughout his tenure at Florida State. Always putting the team before himself, he showed the heart of a true Cane. Going undefeated against a long time, instate rival goes a long way, and for all the reasons mentioned in this article (and dozens that were left out), Chris Rix will always be the best player in this Rivalry for Miami bar none. People point to Brock Berlin as being that dude, I vehemently disagree. Not only did Rix play a large part in certain Miami Hurricane players being drafted, but he even has own own catch phrase “Rix Happens”. Brock could never. So tomorrow, when your Miami Hurricanes line up to face off the hated Seminoles in Tallahassee, send Chris a quick tweet and attach the link to this article in your tweet as a reminder of his greatness. Thank you to Chris Rix the GOAT; hated seeing you go.

Another example was in 2007 when Miami scored two touchdowns in eleven seconds when Kirby Freeman entered the game in relief of the injured Kyle Wright and lobbed a pass to the back pylon that was caught by Dedrick Epps putting Miami up 30-29.

Hell to the ever loving no on Kirby Freemen. Has to be the worse qb, in the history of Da U.
Wasn't it against NCST that he was like either 1 for 14, or 0 for 14 with three picks.

How effing sorry is that.
Alas he did qb us to a bowl victory, although by the skin of our chicklets.

f teams wind up with rotating squads depending on how the COVID testing roulette wheel stops, will fans accept it. Imagine King has to miss two games because of a quarantine or heaven forbid Rousseau, Roche and Jaelen test positive for FSU.
This could be one topsy turvy season.

Good point.

Manny Diaz and the school announced on Monday that Houston graduate transfer D'Eriq King will be the Hurricanes starting quarterback for the 2020 season.

Posted by: AeroCane | July 27, 2020 at 03:23 PM

Dang it! I had Grey Crow as starting QB? Where is Kirby Freeman when you need him? LOL

AeroCane

I know old Skool
Sad to think if we don’t get to play!
They are working on vaccines / if that time table is anytime soon, maybe the powers to be will be more comfortable trying
I’m just glad I don’t have those decisions to make!

Old Skool

That makes sense Aero.

Here's one more thought... Will CFB be able to standardize testing days? Mondays would provide players a guaranteed week of practice (in reality -- very doubtful). If it's Fridays or game day, that roulette spin becomes much more impactful.

AeroCane

Old - the news was manny was smart enough to name him so he can practice with the 1’s and not split reps (lol - if we even get that far)
Manny is learning!

Herb - I agree regarding ND

Old Skool

King is the starting QB?

Shocker.

There's a lot more suspense over whether there'll be a season. And if there is, will he test negative for each game?

If teams wind up with rotating squads depending on how the COVID testing roulette wheel stops, will fans accept it. Imagine King has to miss two games because of a quarantine or heaven forbid Rousseau, Roche and Jaelen test positive for FSU.
This could be one topsy turvy season.

The Herb

Well the recruiting keeps rolling in the right direction
Hasn't jumped the tracks once, so hopefully Taylor, in 2 weeks keeps the Mo going. He is the big One.
Notre Dame, whether to let them be part of the ACC championship picture could what's holding everything up. They should make those azz holes, either get in the ACC full time or dump them on their head. They aren't that big of deal like they use to be.

AeroCane

From inside the U

Miami officially has a starting quarterback.

Manny Diaz and the school announced on Monday that Houston graduate transfer D'Eriq King will be the Hurricanes starting quarterback for the 2020 season.

"D'Eriq's hard work both on and off the field has earned him the starting quarterback position," Diaz said via a release. "His leadership qualities have been evident since he arrived on campus, continuing through mat drills, spring practice, our virtual meetings and summer activities. We're excited to see him lead this offense and I know his teammates are excited as well."

Not looking great imo as mlb is already canceling games only 3 to 4 games into the season.
Sad! This was our year to make a statement (not a NC, but 10 plus wins with great and fun offense and exciting, aggressive defense!)

Miami's recruiting class keeps growing.

Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes three-star edge rusher Thomas Davis made it official on Monday when announced a verbal commitment to the Hurricanes.

Davis, who the industry-generated 247Sports Composite pegs as the nation's No. 50 weak-side defensive end this cycle, picked Manny Diaz's program over Florida State and South Carolina. Arkansas and Indiana had also offered the one-time Mississippi State commit.

What have I missed ??

AeroCane

More info if interested

Smith was previously committed to Florida. He also had Oregon, Tennessee and Auburn on his short list of favorites.

Smith, who has clocked a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash on the lasers and has accepted an invitation to play in the Under Armour All-America Game, figures to be the ideal slot receiver for Lashlee's up-tempo, spread attack as the 5-8.5, 190-pound playmaker is very dangerous in the open field and has a knack for making people miss in space.

Brashard smith commits
He’s a 3 star receiver but because of his speed should outplay his ranking in college

From inside the U

Miami ranks inside the Top 20 of Phil Steele’s 'Power Poll'

ByDAVID LAKE

Each year, college football expert Phil Steele puts together a ‘Power Poll’ going into the season.

The power poll is different than his preseason rankings, but because the power poll is meant to rank teams by pure talent.

So where do the 2020 Miami Hurricanes land in Steele’s rankings? Pretty favorably.
Miami ranks as the No. 17 overall team in the country in Steele’s power poll, which is third best in the ACC.

According to Steele’s rankings, the Coastal Division might be a tight one. The Hurricanes are one spot behind Coastal Division foe North Carolina, who ranks No. 16 and one spot ahead of Virginia Tech, who checks in at No. 18 on the list.

The No. 1 team on the ‘Power Poll’ is Ohio State, followed by No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Alabama.

In-state rival Florida State ranks No. 36 on the list while Florida comes in at No. 13 overall.

The Herb

Good to see some familiar names popping back up.

JCane

Anybody notice Michael Cohen's cap?

Hope all are staying happy and healthy. Looking forward to seeing if the recruiting mo continues, especially with the guys at Palmetto.

Old Skool

From ESPN

Wisconsin's athletic department is projecting revenue losses between $60 million and $70 million if the Badgers play a conference-only, 10-game season and losses of more than $100 million if the upcoming football season is canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The numbers assume minimal fan attendance due to social distancing

AeroCane

Let’s wrap up ‘21 extremely strong and have a great season (assuming we have one), then I’ll look towards ‘22 recruiting

HerbieIbis

DL Jamal Johnson class of 22 commits to DA U. From Madonna Prep. Number 26 rated DE.

TonyCane

What is The Washington Football team’s logo going to be? Blank? Or will it have in Impact font, “The Football Team”?

The Herb

The Washington Wigwams. I wonder if that would of been offensive.

TonyCane

They should change it to the Washington Fillibusters or the Washington Incoruptibles. Put a donkey on one side of the helmet and an elephant on the other.

Old Skool

Boy that's some creative thinking. And to think Dan Synder used to own an advertising/marketing business ...

The Washington NFL franchise, formerly known as the Washington Redskins, is officially going to change its name to the Washington Football Team for now

AeroCane

More good news from inside the U:

Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna Prep four-star running back Thad Franklin announced Thursday via social media that he will be shutting down his recruitment and sticking with Miami.

This is big news for the Hurricanes because on Monday, Franklin told Noles247’s Zach Blostein that the Seminoles had pulled even with the Hurricanes for the tailback.

“I feel good now,” Franklin told InsideTheU Wednesday night. “I feel 100 percent now that we got [James Williams]. A lot of people shut down their recruitment.”

AeroCane

I agree Herb
That’s why manny and Banda need to take it upon themselves to get Wilson

HerbieIbis

Yeah Aero,
Rumph waiting on that one big fish, like Jason Marshall to save him. Not really thrilled with the CB Verbs.
I think Rumph is an above average coach but is a mute on the recruiting trail. We have like 6 CB's on the roster and a couple would be better as safeties and that would be Ivey and Blades.
Getting back to Rumph, Marshall probably ain't going to flow like the rest, unless the virus continues on it's current path and who knows we may try to reel J. Brooke's back in at WR. He is currently verbed to Bama, at any rate Rumph needs to get us an elite CB and if not he needs to be dropped.

AeroCane

Daviid Wilson, former Miami Northwestern 4 star CB and ex UGA, has entered the portal. He is an upgrade as Ivey and blades are average at best (we all know rumph can’t recruit) and wants to stay in state of Florida
It appears it’s between the U, UCF (because of Shannon) and UF (was committed to them before switching to uga after Shannon left). He’s a fast, big CB

TonyCane

Our dL can be great this year! (If there is a season at all)

The James williams get is huge - 10th ranked player in the nation and first in Florida
Now let’s get Taylor and Garcia!

Posted by: AeroCane | July 22, 2020 at 12:15 AM

Huge catch. Miami now has at minimum 9 blue chips in the 2021 class to go with the 9 three stars. With momentum on our side that should go lopsided in favor of the the former.

Barring mass talent departures after the 2020 season we're going to see our talent bump up further in the 40s in four/five star players. That will put us at levels not seen in a very long time.

To think that three years ago, we were only in the upper twenties. Richt and now Diaz have done a fantastic job of building the talent level back up.

The Herb

Taylor and Collier are up next, in about 2.5 weeks. Hope ole Mo keeps on keeping on.
Garcia and Marshall will end up being the last 2 of our class, IF a miracle occurs. The class could end up with:
Collier
Taylor
Davis
Smith
Garcia
Brown
Marshall.
Smith and Davis are pretty close to the only sure things out of the bunch.
If the Mo stops there are a few option at CB. Mason Smith and Sapp do have us in their top 5 but are looking shots.
We were only going to take one safety but if Collier comes then he's a take.
The same with WR, if Yulkeith Brown wants to come they will take him.
If Taylor doesn't come and Collins flips, as has been reported for 6 months, then we are really hurting at DT. We didn't get one in the 20 class, although Robert's could end up there.
Qb, if Garcia doesn't flip, then it's probably Portal city.

AeroCane

I know!
It’s just CRAZY how it’s ‘Come Together’ (I know it’s the Beatles but Aerosmith does it great); we need to ‘Dream On’ and get Taylor, Garcia and Marshall!
