Definition of cavalier: (1) marked by or given to offhand and often disdainful dismissal of important matters.
- Improve offensive line play: Grade C
- Improve QB play: Grade B
- Improve red zone play: Grade A
- Improve third down conversion rate: Grade D
- Improve overall defensive play: Grade C
- Reduce first downs allowed: Grade C-
- Reduce points allowed: Grade D
- Increase turnover margin: Grade C
- Improve special teams play especially at the kicker position: Grade A
- Win the Coastal Division of the ACC: TBD
- Play Clemson for the ACC title: TBD
So according to my grading above your Hurricanes have a respectable but far from stellar 2.3 GPA so far this season before the rest of the games are played and before the season outcome is decided. As you can see, this still leaves lots of room for studying, practicing and improvement across many of the critical areas of performance pretty much across the board.
It is definitely no time to be cavalier.
It is time to hit the books and study hard.
It is time to make sure that laser-like focus is intensified.
There is a lot of work left to do if you want to make the Dean's List in 2020.
God Bless whomever is handling the Canes COVID response.

Nice Article 86! Agreed, need to show improvement. As long as we continue to win!
We have a 8:00 p.m. start time...on the ACC Network

Improve offensive line play: Grade C
At best. Yes we have had some success, but it seems their biggest contribution to the running game is being there to pick the back up after getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage.

Last year they just let the back lie there on the ground, so yeah, that is improvement?

We ain't running against a good Dee front.
We need better quality at LB.
Better quality at WR.
I think the OL talent will be improved but not so much this year.
But even with the above being stated we still shouldn't lose another regular season game.
Posted by: The Herb | October 20, 2020 at 11:36 PM
I think we will be seeing the younger wide receivers starting to play more. They got to be better then the ones that have been starting. They have some upside to them as they gain experience.
We need to get them better for that rematch.
We just keep winning while they learn. Same with the offensive line.

I agree Harry Miller...... play the kids that want to play and have no fear to making plays. Our WRs seem...skittish about getting hit!!! part of the game. I know UVA well...several kids have starred there and know some staff. They have repeatedly come to town and made us look foolish. Remember the last OB game? I would ride that all week MD....we need to show up hongry mean.....take the good we have done in stride, work on the basic fundamentals...block tackle no TOs think....and try to get better. We should be better vs UVA at the skill positions but we win doing the basics...they are a smart team....we need to play hard be aggressive execute fundamentals...and THINK players and staff.
Harry how is that fine young man of yours? Hope well and growing...know you love him God bless all your family...and God bless this big family.

LSU will be getting popped for basketball and football violations. Up to at least 8 ships in football over 2 years but are of the self imposed variety. Usually happens when u stay on top too long.

Jeff Garcia transferring from Valdosta to Grayson High, which is 6-0.

My affinity for my beloved Canes can only run so deep and with that being said The Herb is perplexed at our inability to have players running open in this offense. Are our WR'S that bad, overrated or are they actually have velcro taped to their uniforms? Probably all of the above.
This week I actually see a little light at the end of the tunnel, where one of the missing links actually gets open quite a bit. It we would be asking to much for a couple them to have good games, so one is fine. The offense finds a little groove for a 34-17 win. Now it won't always be pretty but hey, that's how we play and a win is a win.
The headlights will eventually come on, although McCloud and Jenning's lights are very dim so I expect to see them in the near future as backups.
Our MVP'S so far are 2 of Patke's boys, Sweet Lou and Borragalas, who would of thought Patke is doing something right, although he still sucks at recruiting.
Until next time, cherish every ugly win sports fans.

Herb...#12 Payton and #88 Smith are gonna get some burn as the season goes on. It's just a fact jack!
Posted by: 58 Straight | October 21, 2020 at 05:32 PM
Harley and Wiggins may have some hope but The Pope is a NOPE.
Posted by: 58 Straight | October 21, 2020 at 05:32 PM
Agree 86 but will you or any qb or coach really trust Wiggins or Harley to catch the key pass to extend a drive or win the game? I don’t
Pope will actually be serviceable as a slot receiver but we need a lot more of Payton and smith
I’d personally like to see more of restrepo as I like his confidence and think the wr room needs that

NC State and VT and UNC are our remaining 3 Hurdles this season to getting a Rematch With Clemson in Charlotte On December 19th! Just Keeping It 💯!

VA my great grandson, Oden is off the oxygen tube and looks great without it running across his face. He is a fighter, smiling, rolling over and raising hell every now and then. I want to thank you for always thinking of him. Your thoughts very much seam to come from your heart. I believe you are a very special person.
I would like to see Restrepo get a lot of snaps. I think he is going to be a very good receiver soon.

Well, we generally never play good when we go to Va.Tech.
UNC we have been up and down with.
Carolina can move the ball. That should be the game we have the most to worry about.
I don't worry about Tech beating us as much As I do us beating ourselves, which happens quite often up their.

Stories from Edge in The Players Tribune:
That’s what they don’t understand about The U. See, they’re jealous of the U. Everybody else, they talk about us like we were wild. And yeah, we were wild, like all youth. We were wild as hell, matter of fact. But the U in the ’90s? It was about that WORK. I mean, oh my God. It was FIVE-STARS ONLY. It used to be a dogfight every single practice. Reggie Wayne. Santana Moss. Ed Reed. Somebody was always coming for your spot. I remember we used to have a saying whenever somebody got hurt. They’d be icing their leg like, “Man, I’m out today. I can’t go.” And the reply was always, “Damn … your bad.”
I’ll never forget my guy Reggie Wayne showed up freshman year and he refused to get off the couches (as a freshman you’re not supposed to sit on the couches in the locker room). I loved the fact that he showed heart and was ready to go to war about what he felt was right. (So I stepped to him and pulled him to the side and the rest is history.) 87–32 From the U to The Horseshoe!!

1. 100% correct.
2. We are perfectly capable of beating ourselves. Let's try to avoid that at VT this year, OK?

Harry that is so good to hear. My daughter is going through a tough pregnancy and we pray that all works out ok. It is never easy with children; my Mother in law, who passed in July used to say "when they are young they step on your feet and when they grow up they step on your heart."
I hope he steps all over great grandpas feet!!!! Wondering what was happening with him....and CGNC....learning to swallow ones pride...and knowing how to say I am sorry I am wrong and I love you....between Oden and learning how to be a grown up...brought me back as this is family.
Great news Harry that makes me smile!!!!
Best to all,

In other news, entomologists have found the first murder hornet nest in the US.
How?
By tying tiny radio trackers to the bodies of live ones with dental floss
Wasp wrangler -- that's a job I'll take a pass on.

Those wasps are deadly to humans. Where did they come from and are they cold weather or warm weather wasps? If they are as deadly as I have read, send in the National Guard to eradicate them, and kill the Queen. We all know that women can cause a lot of trouble! Go CANES!
