Meh....i am not holding my breath. 2 years ago we got beat by FIU, this year we give up 778 rushing years (most in history). Recruiting means nothing if you cant do anything with it

AMEN Raize!

another nice blog

. . . this line caught my eye:
"Your University of Miami Hurricanes did not get every player they wanted on the early SINGing date for the 2021 class"

. . . i hear we did a good job getting in basses, baritones & sopranos; totally whiffed on the altos

YUP! Agree 💯! Coaching, coaching, coaching... CHANGES NEED TO HAPPEN ON THE COACHING FRONT!

I guess we'll find out Sunday about our bowl game?

AfriCane

Yea Herb!
I think my initial calm is giving way to ‘pissed off-ness,’ if there was ever a word.
Y r we recruiting a pocket passer of king has defined our need for a QB going forward, not unless they r hoping to improve his 40 times. This fruit reminds me of the guy Golden brought in who was a 4-star that ended up transferring due to lack of playing time. He looks like a future transfer portal candidate to me. I don’t mind getting QBs from the portal. Remember cam was a transfer from Florida that won the chip at auburn.

Dude, we never lost to FIU. You been hanging out with Hunter Biden too long.

Wait, what? Oh, my sources are telling me that...um...uh, never mind.

Well played Sir!

Old Skool

Hope that fat lady serenades Blake Baker and his gaping hole defense

AeroCane

In agreement with most in here

IMO As good as this class is, it will only be as good as it can be on D if we get rid of baker, patke and rumph! Otherwise we will continue seeing these defensive lapses against all good offensive teams

HerbieIbis

Look I'm glad we got Garcia BUT tell The Herb if he is wrong, in Lashlee's system he wants the Qb to run 8 to 10 times a game to keep the DE's guessing and constantly crashing, so why are we recruiting a pocket passer, shouldn't we be getting a dual threat QB?
King had problems early because he wouldn't run. He didn't run this kind of system at Houston.
Now with alot of dual threats there not usually extremely accurate, mainly athletes playing qb.
If we ever get the line fixed, it won't matter who we have at qb but as it is now, a dual threat would be better.

AeroCane

Herb
Even though he is listed as a Pro, my understanding is he’s a good athlete and can run when needed or called

86Cane

The top remaining quarterback recruits in the class of 2021 is off the board.

After de-committing from USC earlier this month, four-star Loganville (Ga.) Grayson signal-caller landed on his feet Wednesday night, signing with Miami. He is the Hurricanes’ second-highest ranked quarterback signee in program history, according to 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins.

A California native, Garcia transferred to Grayson to play his senior season with high school football in his home state on hold before enrolling at a college in January. Garcia’s senior season is still rolling, as Grayson is a semifinalist in the Georgia state playoffs.

“Loose, athletic frame with a pure stroke and effortless delivery,” 247Sports’ Greg Biggins said in his scouting report of Garcia. “He throws with touch and accuracy, can change speeds and has a nice feel for the position. Can throw with timing and has a nice feel for the position. Understands when to take some off and doesn’t try and throw all fastballs. Has tightened his release and gets the ball out quickly from different arm angles.”

Has improved athletically and looks comfortable rolling out and throwing on the run. Can continue to improve throwing a tighter ball and doesn’t spin it as consistently as you would like to see but don’t think it will be an issue for him moving forward. Projects as an impact upper-tier Power 5 starter and future NFL draft pick.”

86Cane

Alabama wanted him and he could have chosen FSU so the fact that he chose Miami is w Win-Win for us.

orange 'n green in the vein

Usually this is referred to as "able to keep a defense honest with QB scrambles."

Kenny Pickett would be the current ACC king of this and he's coming back to play year five in 2021.

The Herb

Not knocking the get. Dudes a top 50 player, so I'm happy.
Class was pretty dam good, except, well u know one position.

Hassan

ortis my all-time fav with Jim Rome

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekOXt5juJbc

P.S. Phillip Buchannon a WAY underrated Cane. Listen to Portis say he was as good as ANYONE but in the Pro's injuries etc limited him. Buchannon was a 4.31 guy (fastest at the 2002 combine) and an excellent lockdown corner, drafted in the 1st rd and also was an elite punt returner. I knew friends of his family for a long time, he is from the Ft Myers area.

AfriCane

Didn’t we have the number 1 class with Jascory & sleepy pence class?
What did they do. In my opinion, top 10 to top 15 classes r good enough to get u in the playoffs once every 4 years or at least finish in the top 10 every 2 years? Tell me if I’m wrong, but haven’t we been averaging between 10 & 15 ? What have we done with it.
Like I said before, I’m at peace with how long it’s taking on us to get back on top. Honestly, I’ve gotten over the shock of the loss. We r due for one, once every 3 years. We just have to make sure it doesn’t break us.

The Herb

Well AfriCane, although our recruiting was good, in order for us to get to the top 6, it has to be even better.
Somewhere in the neighborhood of 16 four star players or better. I think between Bama, OSU and Clemson, they had a grand total of 6 to 8 three star players. So if we bring in 12 four star players and say thirteen 3 star players out of a class of 25, we just fall further behind even though that would be a good class.
Bama brought in 6 and OSU brought in 5, five star players. This has been common place for them.

Top 6? Who is talking about the top 6? We are #19 after the season, as screwy as it was. While we were busy being "emotionally tired" and losing to UNC other teams were tearing it up with MUCH less talent that we had. Here are some examples:

Cinncinati #6
Indiana #7
Iowa State #8
Chanticleers #9
BYU #14
Northwestern #15
UNC #16
Iowa #18
Miami #19

You go ahead and keep talking to me about TALENT and I will keep talking to you about COACHING!

RCCF

Someone said and it was clear..

Manny needs to rid himself of his defensive team. Offense made HUGE strides now its defense turn. Give the keys to someone else and concentrate on just being a CEO HC....

We are so close and if Manny wants to keep his job, he Must:

- let Ed Reed take the defense over
- let Ed Reed pick a new Defensive Committee

No RCCF!
Ed cannot. He has never been a coach. And that would be setting him up for failure too. Rumph is also a decorated ex player who actually is a coach.
And look at where he is. Ed, like Ray, is a motivational speaker. He is best at his current role.

AfriCane

That game is similar to what happened to Shanon in the GT game in Atlanta, where they ran 500 yards all over us. Shanon came back the following year with Olivier Vernon on the D & stumped GT @ pro player. Counter is manny’s cryptonite, like Shanon’s was the option. Shanon adjusted for it & beat it. Many has to do the same. So whatever his scheme is, he must be able to adjust & well, counter it. Not really sure if that pun was intended.

AfriCane

Next year, we got to go HAM on hose baby blue wearing, sister banging, straw chewing, backwards country trolls. That upside down U got me heated.
Honestly, I was wishing one of our boys would have gotten mad & go old canes & punch their lights out. Next year, we’ve got to put Sam SHALLOW on a stretcher.

AfriCane

For those who question if manny could lead us to a chip, I believe he can. It’s not based on anything I see from him. But I’m just looking at DUMBO SWEETHEART. That guy looks dumb as Donald Duck & he built a championship team. And I get it, talking about looks is not the point. I just think his personality matches his face. I don’t think hes particularly a mastermind. Yes he hired good assistants, but duhh!! coaching 101!

Anyway, that’s it. I blew my load!!

AGREE 💯%.

I'm not "feeling" Manny's dissatisfaction with his D staff. I've only heard him say that he and Baker are on the same page...🤮

You gotta change things and get some NEW 'D' staffers Manny!

Our 'D' just gave up the MOST RUNNING YARDAGE TO A TANDEM OF BACKS IN NCAA HISTORY!

Essentially, the WORST 'D' performance IN NCAA HISTORY! ...IN NCAA HISTORY! That's the WORST in over 100 years!!! The WORST!

Anyone know who the "someone else" on 'D' should be?

Cola Cane

Well we may be losing Banda to Utah State, and he's actually a BRIGHT spot on the D side, and a GREAT recruiter. We do NOT need to LOSE hime!

Cola - I heard that - bad news for us as he is by far our best Defensive side recruiter
Should be baker, rumph and patke going instead!

If manny doesn’t make defensive changes, he will lose his job! And he should!

Bummer...

The word from the Herb

Soup,
Aberration dog. Once every blue moon somebody throws the down trodden a bone. Northwestern will get smoked.
These teams have no staying power.

HerbieIbis

Look, that's what the U does, create excitement and set records good or bad. Remember they rewrote the rule book on player behavior because of us. Some of the most exciting plays in college football are tied to us.
No big deal.
If we lose Bands, Manny might as well, except for stroud, clean out the whole defensive staff. Banda is the only recruiter on that side of the ball, the rest are space takers.
It would be neat if Ed could actually go and recruit, as far as coaching, I think he would be a good position coach, if Banda left.

The Herb

One more thing, if Banda doesn't take the job, Manny told him to stick around cause Baker is gone.

roachcane77

THAT would be nice... but I'm not gonna hold my breath...

Harry Miller

If Manny really said that, I think he is going to be gone, Remember last year Manny is not afraid to replace a sorry coach.

RCCF

1. Ed has and can coach he was a DB Coach in the NFL
2. Ed also was HC of the Elite Game vs Deion who I guess can't coach either but has stolen over 5 P5 Players to JSU HBCU
3. BAKER MUST GO
4. Why doesn't Rumph recruit his position and if he isn't then who is??
5. Delancy and Fleming both left Nebraska can we bring them home??

"As domestic and international travel continues to be cautioned by the CDC and Florida’s Department of Health, particularly during the current surge, the University is updating its travel advisories and policies. The University strongly discourages overnight travel outside of Florida (by any means of transportation) or air travel within the state of Florida during the current surge of the pandemic".

So, how does UM administration approve the football team's participation in an empty stadium, money losing, Crappy Bowl game - unless it is located within driving distance of the UM campus?

AfriCane

Y should we make Bandy DC?
He can’t get his 1st head coaching gig @ a big school like miami. Utah state is good for him to learn. Look at the D coordinator of all our competitors. U r going against venebles with Banda.
And please don’t bring up the manny getting head coaching gig at miami example. Different.

The Herb

Hell Banda is the only coach on that staff, that u could call an ace recruiter. I would put Stroud a peg below Runph, with Rumph being the worse recruiter. Patke goes out and talks to players to tell them Miami is interested, Baker is a wing man. Cooney and Van Dyke, do the yeoman's work.

RCCF,
Those boys had their chance. I see alot of x cruits in the portal. They'll think next time they want to venture to freeze to death.
Just about every Florida kid that went to Nebraska has jumped into the portal.
The OH Line coach is a go getter on the trail.

Miami recruits CB'S like needles in a haystack.
As I figured, they got on McBurrows late. How can u be late on any CB or any other player in the backyard. Anything within 100 miles inside the wire, in all directions except East, we should be the first to offer if they have the talent.
We got a good haul but so did everybody else. Dam there is some talent down there, if they would just get it through their thick sculls, if they stay home and play together, who's going to beat them?
Now back to CB, I like the fact we just ain't offering anybody but we need more speed. Stop offering guys that weigh a buck fifty. Unless a dude has olympic speed, the cut off should be 170 lbs. Now I know they want corners that are at least close to 6'0. We need some nasty hitters. Also, get kids that actually play CB, not kids that basically only play offense. No problem with that if u are deep and the kid could provide help 2 to 3 years down the road.

The Herb

Phillip's gone.

The Herb

Read where Banda and Stroud both had been out a long time. Banda wasn't at the UNC game and Stroud had just come back on game day. Baker had it as well.
Patke and Rumph didn't get it.

roachcane77

Phillip's gone.

Borregalas not coming back and maybe Nesta as well. Mow that would be a mistake.

DannyMiaz

Manny sucks. Get rid of this clown and try again. Our program is such trash that we overlook the obvious signs of his failures and hang on the handful of positives with way more optimism than we should.

His firing should’ve been announced the day after the early signing period.

The Herb

Ain't about jumping ship, it's about thinking more highly of yourself than others.
I'll say this again, if u ain't made an AA team first through third team or an All Conference first or second team then where are u going, to the pros? Need to be pumping them brakes.
Borregalas, dude is legit.
Phillip's had a pretty good year and maybe gets some AA recognition. Dude plays hard but the clock was ticking on him. Should he come back probably but right now he is a first or second round pick. Can't argue with that.
Silvera, nah, maybe another 4th or 5th rounder.
