There are so many other people you can be angry at - all kosi has done was hang in there and play a great game when king went down and had some nice downfield tosses. If manny wasn’t such a loser and pulled Wiggins and pope (like he should have) we may of even won with kosi at qb. After seeing how he played against OSU, I’m more comfortable with him starting against Bama than TVD or Garcia (both as newbies). We most likely are going to get crushed by Bama anyway, so let king heal for the extra week and throw kosi at the wolves. JMO

well put Aero.....I have that coach mentality...but you are spot on regarding the recent play. I cannot imagine DK being 100% ready to face the NC.....so you put your coaching hat on and I like it good call!

Experience counts over newbies and our boy got it more ways than one! LOL!!! Good point ...he was impressive when he got here...but not a lot of growth in all ways. Did show some poise.

Good post Aero!

One of them took the money and ran to all places, Georgia where he probably got a bigger bag and well, he committed their.

Miami looking hard at LB Palaie Goetegote or ever how u spell his name, from USC. What I've read it could be between us & Mich. St., where his bro plays.

Killerbeez41

As far as the staff changes go, not bad by Manny. The head scratch is the move with Baker. In my eyes if Baker hasn't taken a pay cut, it's a win. It's on Manny's head now if things don't pan out, then he'll look around IF it doesn't work out and laugh in everyone's faces. The ONLY game I say he didn't do well was UNC. The kids were in position to make plays every other game and didn't. Now Manny has upgrades in staff with Jess Simpson and T.Rob, let's see how it comes together.

at the inauguration lady gaga looked stunning
. . . and she used her voice and artistry to absolutely kill our national anthem!!
. . . she let that song soar and allowed me to hear it with fresh ears
. . . tip o' the cap to the lady

VA Cane

Not a gaga fan in that I do not own any of her music, but she has a great voice and did a nice job! Tough one to sing, much less in a public setting, but she did a nice job!

Perhaps they should have played the Hendrix Woodstock version....perhaps the most innovative interpretive artistic version ever....but with Jimi's sound effects our little leaders would have run for cover....again...scared again.. cause it captures the turbulence of the late 60s a turbulence we have today...Jimi really gets the sounds of rockets red glare, bombs bursting in air....

I am not a Biden voter but I hope all our leaders can get off their cans and start doing something positive for the nation...Congress (2 Houses) approval rating last poled at 15%.....very sad for people making 174K a year plus huge benefits....I need a job like that!
Get a move on it people....do your jobs...all of you regardless of party affiliation!

Bernie, did GA simply “super-size” the bag?

The Herb

I hear u VA.
Things may turn around but the problem is the Senate is like 2 sets of brats, if they don't get their way they bitch, moan and result to name calling.
They first have to acknowledge the problems and work to fix them. Letting towns burn, looting and rioting and not saying anything or doing anything and now after 6 months u have something to say, don't inspire people.
Anyway get that old bitchy hag, as speaker out of their, now that would be a step towards democracy.

alpine

now that would be a step towards democracy.

nancy's been a good speaker, but it's definitely time to make way for some younger blood; no idea though, how her removal would support a "step toward democracy"? maybe Q will tell us in his next posting?
. . . biggest step toward democracy involved a massive DC bowel movement that landed in FL; be on the lookout for algal blooms down there

Keep water away from Nancy... she'll melt

jeezus, womens bb is so dam embarassing these days
29-8 with 2 minutes left in the 1st q. and there is not one single thing the women are doing good

alpine

"damn"^^

alpine

now miami is losing by only 1 point instead of 21 at the half (37-36)
. . . apparently having me turn off the game until 1 minute was left in the half, was the kind of rejection that the women needed (rumor has it, the phrase "even alpine has ditched us" made them take a hard look in the mirror)

alpine

but it's bedtime; back for the rest on tomorrows replay

Dam, Baker offered a 5 star LB out of Texas. Finally recruiting. I guess he knows these LB's are his future. If he's banking on what we have and what we've seen so far, then his days are numbered. I haven't seen one LB on that roster in 3 years take a big step in improvement. Like I've said 4 or 5 times, what was the purpose of keeping this dude?

alpine

lady canes pull out a close win!
. . . yes, pitt hadn't played in forever, so the canes shoulda won
. . . but after using every tool in their shed to dig a hole deep enough to bury both bigfoot and his sister, sasquatsch, with enough room left over for a mid-sized tyrannosaurus rex, they struck gold at the bottom of that hole, finding enough climbing gear to get back out
. . . evidently, they played their best bb of the year during the 2nd quarter; wish they'd do that while i'm watching

re aaron: one of my older sisters was dating woody woodward, who was with the milwaukee braves (shortstop) . . . he tried to get on my good side (that's what smart men do: serenade the little brothers to get extra points from their women, the older sisters) by gifting me lots of baseball cards + a thick braves program, which contained the autographs of most of the braves team, including aaron, matthews, spahn
(... which i found in a box about 5 years ago and sent to one of my sisters grown-up kids)
. . . i was into baseball back then and followed the braves religiously, as they became the atlanta braves; then added cincinati to my favorite list when woody was sent there (got lucky, since those led to the days of the big red machine! perez, bench, morgan, rose,... great years to be a fan!)
... woody went from coral gables hs to fsu ('60-'63) to braves/reds (1963-1971); became fsu coach 1975-78; eventually became general manager of yankees, phillies, and most notably, the mariners, where he drafted alex rodriguez

recounting this reminds me that i'm gettin' old
. . . and no, my sister never married him, though he had my vote
LOVED hank aaron . . . one of my all-time favorite players!!!!!!

Great artiicle on Dan Morgan. He had a restaurant in South Charlotte - coal fired pizza - when I lived there - went with my daughter to watch FSU- Miami game and he was there- met him - and then in walked Jon Beason. Great night.

Dan now with the Bills - he also talks about becoming a Miami fan:

Here's my baseball story for you. My dad's cousin was married to Red Barber the radio voice of the Yankees. In the early 60s, Red invited me to go to the Yankees spring training camp in Fort Lauderdale. As part of the tour, I got to meet Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and Roger Maris. At the end of the friendly chat, they each signed a baseball and gave it to me. That’s right. I had a baseball personally signed by all three.

So what did I do with it when I got back to Miami? I played baseball with it. Scuffed it, dirtied it, lost it.

Stupid is as stupid does?

Apparently Lockette wanted to coach but Manny could not find a spot for him because he wouldn't remove Patke? Why could he coach DBs instead of Van Dyke?

The Herb

Patke & Baker must have something on Manny. Kept Patke because of Lou and Borregalas.
Neither have shown me shyt. Space takers. They want The Herb to believe in them, bring me sum dam talented LB'S.

Just saw Greg Olsen announced his retirement. Great NFL career. Time keeps moving on and waits on no one. Canes greats about all
Gone from the League now. Remainder are mostly good players but not not great.

Fundamental changes to college game that we’ve been talking about for over a decade means it’s much more than Manny & Co “learning” from old Cane great coaches/recruiters. The world has turned and there are fundamental structural hurdles The U has to overcome. I believe that can be done, but we MUST start overachieving - stop getting azz stomped every other season and build some momentum. Think Clemson around 2010-12. Seemed to come out of nowhere but once their “plan” came together, the recruits and the winning kept coming.

nemo2020

Another big loss today (to another really bad team).

FireCoachL2021

AeroCane

We have the worst AD! After the fiu loss last year, he should of fired manny! Since he didn’t, after the unc loss he should of required manny fire Blake! But no!
So what do we expect him to do with the dinosaur? Probably give him an extension! PS does anyone think coach L has been anything but pathetic the last 3 plus years other than Alpine? Lol

alpine

nemo, aero, you both watched the game?
- you saw that almost half our team is out?
- 5 of our 12 are injured and deng gak has so many knee issues that he too is unable to practice 'cause they have to keep him healthy enough for the actual game day?
- so with our 2 walk-ons, we have 8 players for practice
- but L should be a magician?

- it's also bruising on the psyche when players keep going down for the season or for longer periods of time, both for practice consistency and knowing each others play
. . . and for depth on the court

- the canes are really missing vasiljevic and lykes, who were the 2 players good for 3-pointers last year; mcgusty distant 3rd
. . . vas is gone, lykes is injured since forever, mcgusty is rusty from too much time on injured list; matt cross might turn out to be that person, but he's way too inconsistent as a frosh
- particularly against the zone, which everyone is throwing at us now, you need more 3-pt help

- considering the screw-job the ncaa put on us together with a few years of untimely injuries plus early leaves to nba ... all of which has led to several less-than-stellar years, coach L is somehow still pulling in good recruits, which is keeping us barely afloat, instead of a full sink

- so yes, i still like and APPRECIATE coach L

AeroCane

Alpine - lol
At this point I just don’t care!

Nobody is missing the recruiting blunder from down under.

From the NYTimes

The coronavirus pandemic fueled a $600 million plunge in the N.C.A.A.’s revenues during its most recent fiscal year, a staggering indication of how the pathogen forced a financial reckoning throughout a college sports industry that was already under scrutiny from lawmakers and regulators across the country.

The decision in March to cancel the men’s national basketball tournament cost the association $702 million in television and marketing rights, N.C.A.A. board members were told during a video call this month.

DTX Cane I have been saying that for Years. Glad More Are Seeing what I have been saying for awhile! Clemson was not a overnight story. When Dabo Took Over His First Full Seasonin 2009. So In That Time 10 Straight 10 Plus Win Seasons 2011-2020 2 National Championships, 7 ACC Championships,6 Playoff Appearances, 9 Win Season In His First Full Year in 2009, 1 Really Bad Year in 2010. Dude Is Averaging 11.5 Wins A Year Sheesh! We Got To Get Back On A Roll Again We Had A Step In Right Direction This Past Year, Need To Keep It Going This Year With A 10 Win Plus Season, and So Forth And So On!

86Cane

IMHO Coach L should announce his retirement at the end of the season. He is old, he doesn't need the money and his team has struggled for various reason over several seasons.

It is time for some new, young blood to infuse energy and direction into the program. That is my take. Don't see how you can argue against it?

NEW BLOG IS UP!

alpine

- i think aero's got the right idea with the "i don't care" attitude . . . at least blog-wise
- instead of the constant "fire coach L" mantra, i'd be more interested in hearing a deeper analysis of why
- but that's not gonna happen, so . . .

- also, imo anyone who doesn't see that our program right now is missing an outside sharp-shooter like vasiljevic is not worth listening to . . . i'm thinking it's someone in love with their clever "recruiting blunder from down under" label, which they love to trot out whenever possible, to remind us yet again of that amazing cleverness
