No, we need a "good" loss or a "bad" win on Saturday to close the deal.

And for those asking for cristobal, remember tagart was a winner in Oregon. Then he went to Fl state. It’s not these coaches that makes Oregon a winner. It’s Oregon that gives them what they need to win. They, as individual coaches cannot replicate it on other teams.
JS!!!
Posted by: AfriCane | September 20, 2021 at 11:12 AM
Tagart was not that good at Oregon at 7-5. No comparison to what Mario has accomplished there. FSU just screwed that hire up!
Posted by: AeroCane | September 20, 2021 at 01:18 PM
So, when Gary Ferman started talking about butch Davis, I took it a bit more serious since he’s been doing this for a while. So I went and watched FIU game footage on YouTube. It was full of our issues. His defense had a ton of mistacklea. No push from D line. They r easily juked. The only thing I saw from them was FIU’s offense funny enough. They could put up points. And their special teams was solid. I mean I thought butch’s calling card was turning shit in to shish kebab. I guess I expected him to turn his 2 and 3 star D line men into world beaters at FIU.
Now that liberty coach though should be on our speed dial.
Posted by: AfriCane | September 20, 2021 at 01:20 PM
Aero, that was after he took over a totally destroyed team chip Kelly left behind.
Posted by: AfriCane | September 20, 2021 at 01:20 PM
Butch will not be our coach! His ship sailed a while ago!
Tagart is not a good coach and never really has been IMO
Who cares what he took over, he is not Mario!
Posted by: AeroCane | September 20, 2021 at 03:10 PM
Aero, my point is, we have to consider the product. The kids in pac 10 region r not Florida. Florida kids r r straight wild. When u can control them and direct them, BAM!
And not to say that Mario can’t do it. I’m just saying it takes a special type of coach for Florida talent.
All the coaches that have failed in Florida schools were the up and comers of their game at one point.
Posted by: AfriCane | September 20, 2021 at 03:45 PM
Gotcha afriCane!
Personally I think Mario kills it in recruiting in south Florida
But there are others out there that I think would be good
Bill O’Brien from Bama and an ex head coach (question is can he recruit and does he want to recruit)
Frost of Nebraska (his style is much better suited for the U then Nebraska)
And 86 mentioned: the Iowa state coach, coastal carolina
Maybe the cinci coach
Whoever it is, needs to play aggressive and physical and be able to recruit!
However, It doesn’t really matter as I doubt Blake ‘lam ass’ James will fire manny and if he did, he eff the hire up somehow! Maybe ‘steal’ and assistant coach from temple! LOL

All I know is they need to rip the 26 jersey off Hall's azz. That azz hole shouldn't see the field again.
I can't believe Manny keeps lying by saying we are going to fix it.
At what point don't u get it, your bandaid approach don't work. Tweaking stuff, u need a tear down and rebuild and u won't be around for that part, Hopefully.

Who wants to bet that Aaron Rogers and the Green Bay Packers look like a completely NEW team tonight> Say it now!
Green Bay wins tonight, guaranteed.

Her I - after three games this is the lowest scoring team in possibly 40 years.

Told U Green Bay was just messing around.
Packers 28 Lions 17.

The Sad Reality About The Hurricanes. Enough is Enough.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/the-sad-reality-about-the-hurricanes-enough-is-enough/ar-AAOFaqI?ocid=entnewsntp&pc=U531
We bought into the hype during the 2019 off-season, 2020 off-season and 2021 off-season. We bought into #TNM, the rides on yachts, the confidence, the firing of poor coaches and hiring of flashy new assistants. For the most part, all Miami fans thought Manny was the guy. But he’s not the guy. Simple as that. The experiment didn’t work.
Year three under Diaz as head coach, and Miami is still repeating the same problems. They can’t come strong in the first half, too many penalties, undisciplined, and veteran players who have continued to underperform are still somehow starting. The accountability is still not there, after three years.
But at the end of the day, I can’t put all the blame on Manny, because in reality, he should’ve never been hired in the first place. A first time head coach should never have been viewed as the savior for this program.
[E]nough is enough. Not just speaking of Manny, but in general. One bowl win since 2006, one Coastal title since 2004, zero ACC championships since joining the conference, enough is enough. Attendance will continue to drop, recruits will continue to hear about how great The U used to be because there isn’t any recent success, how much longer can this go on? At what point is average football and mediocrity unacceptable? Guess we’ll find out.
Posted by: nemo2020 | September 21, 2021 at 02:13 PM
I would love to be a reporter at a Diaz press conference. My question would be: "So Manny, what is your greatest achievement of the season so far?" Then when he hems and haws ask "Okay, then, what is your greatest achievement over the past 3 years?"
When I look at Diaz, I think of the movie "Dead Man Walking"
Posted by: Old Skool | September 21, 2021 at 02:27 PM
Old Skool, It's the culture, the lazy play, the missed tackles, the penalties, the T.O.'S, the Vanilla play calling, the dropped passes and last, the lack of player development. Least I should forget, the lack of accountability and lack of discipline.
Now that is allot of things to get fixed, that should have already been fixed before the season started because u already new what the problems were from last year. Nothing has been done.
Last in the nation in missed tackles, with 66.
They probably average at least 8 penalties a game, with 5 being of the 16 yd. variety.
They probably average at least 4 drops a game.
7 T.O.'s.
Can't run the football and that's with every stinking linemen PLUS reserves back.
Our LBers are plain garbage our secondary can't tackle or tackle the right guy, Hall!
With not much pass rush our secondary is burnt toast.
Trob says the fact is nobody physically gets taken to the ground anymore in practice, they work on technique.
How is that working?
If that is the biggest problem, how u going to correct it by not hitting and tackling, I don't care if they do it once a week, it's better than not hitting at all.
Thumbs Mahoney, alias Mark Pope, who hasn't played at all, has been practicing at DB.
The problem with DB's is recruiting. All they care about is lenght. Hell, if a kid is 6'1 and 155 lb's they slobber all over the kid. I wouldn't take a kid from high school unless he weighed at least 170.
No way Manny gets all these problems fixed, oh they will tease u with a game here or there but we are what we have been coached to be a bunch of slop and slobs.

Manny has 2 1/2 years remaining on his contract.
Damn it!
Posted by: nemo2020 | September 21, 2021 at 03:45 PM
Thanks, I was wondering how many years Manny had left on his contract. We are screwed. 2 1/2 years is a lifetime in football. I guess we have no help from the “greats”. I should forget about the Canes, but it’s difficult, being a graduate way back in 1970.

I cannot figure out what the hell Hall was doing on that long run by MSU...it was on C'mon Man on MNF anyone else see it?...he was right there...and it looked like instead of tackling the ball carrier, he blocked another MSU player like he was afraid...strangest play I have ever seen!
It is right there in one of the tweets...he never looks to tackle the ball carrier...afraid...stupid ...don't care...not coached...I don't know but it was bad. Marsh and Barry Jackson spot on...dammit I been saying this stuff...over and over a long time...as have so many of us...WE KNOW...how can those IN THE KNOW not know?...its as obvious as the nose on ya face...powers that be Board AD whomever must NOT KNOW OR NOT CARE!...I wont repeat anything I've said but coaching and execution of fundamentals by players fully absent neither group gives a damn except a few players...damn a mouthful eh?
Those long opinions by Marsh and Jackson say it all...and here we are again...why does it take 18 times being left at the alter that the fresh hope of a new bride ain't happening? Wish I knew...
I am not a complainer or an excuse maker in anything I do in life, I may not win every time, but damn I give it all I got in all I do...from rise and shine each day...do not understand acceptance of second place or failure before you even start...and I win damn near every battle I engage...cause it matters and I make the effort...as do each of you...SMH

Hurricanes starting offensive lineman Jalen Rivers is out for the remainder of season; QB D’Eriq King doubtful vs. Central Connecticut State.
Posted by: nemo2020 | September 22, 2021 at 01:07 PM
By all means rest King. Let's see if the young bucks can play. While we're at it, rest Harley and Mallory

Manny ought to check the UM intramural transfer portal. There might be some hidden talent there. Can’t get much worse
Posted by: DallasTX Cane | September 22, 2021 at 07:11 PM
Any news on maybe Mario coming to the U. I read that it will take 50 million to pay off all the contracts out there. The U will never pay big sums. They don’t care about sports, or anything else, that we care about. So sad.
You can hate Notre Dame, but when they had to get rid of Faust as coach, the Alumni and the school came up with millions and millions to get the job done. I know, because my father was an alumnus of ND.
I am frustrated and it’s not even October.
Posted by: MLALUMNI1970 | September 22, 2021 at 11:14 PM
Well at 1-2, we are on the waiting list of the bottom, disguised as The Yew. Yes, I would say we play rather Sheepishly.
Posted by: HerbieIbis | September 23, 2021 at 01:54 AM
For those pushing cristobal, what makes u so sure. I’m not sold on him. I believe we need a motherfoker of a coach, ala, jimmy johnson or a coach that’s taken a shitty new university and has them balling out and bearing power 5 teams, ala, HUGH FREEZE.
I’m sorry! I’m sold on Mario.
Posted by: AfriCane | September 23, 2021 at 04:14 AM
The U won’t pay me he $50 million to bring Mario here, clear Diaz, Mario contracts etc. I wish, they would, bu it’s a pipe dream, at best.
What other money resource do we have?
Posted by: MLALUMNI1970 | September 23, 2021 at 12:51 PM
50 million for a coach that’s not Saban or myer?
To spend 50 mill, u need a near perfect guarantee.
Alabama went after saban when he was with the dolfins. And he was still telling us that he was there to stay. Y don’t we do the same with urban. He loves college football. I figure if we offer him 6mill a year plus 1mil a year coordinators, we can convince him.
Posted by: AfriCane | September 23, 2021 at 01:38 PM
He may love college football but I hate his ass. I hope he loses every game this year. I think there is someone better that Flathead; he has no clue what is at UM nor does he respect the legacy. I want to win, but never want to win with this ass clown. sorry wrong choice pick another...theres other people out there we do not need Flathead!
Posted by: VA Cane | September 23, 2021 at 02:52 PM
VA Who is flathead????
Posted by: MLALUMNI1970 | September 23, 2021 at 03:26 PM
I agree VA
I do NOT want urban Meyer as our coach! I want Mario (I disagree with afriCane who for some reason doesn’t like him), bill obrien (will he recruit, does he want to recruit), frost (south Florida and the U is way more suited to his coaching style than Nebraska) or anybody but manny and they have to of had HC experience

Only two reasons to go this Saturday:
1. Tailgating.
2. See a new QB in the game and see what they can do. I hope they BOTH play a half.

Me too but with this coaching staff: who knows!
Posted by: AeroCane | September 23, 2021 at 07:35 PM
Aero, I don’t hate Mario. I just think he’s fool gold that I think no one else sees. And I think we cannot afford to look at just how a coaches program is doing anymore. We have to look deeper. Remember Les Miles. He won a championship at LS who? Ed won another one with his rectuits. He didn’t do shit at Kansas and got ran out of town. FOOLS GOLD!
Posted by: AfriCane | September 23, 2021 at 09:26 PM
And anyway, let’s see how Oregon finish the year first. Ohio state is not what they were last year evidently.
Posted by: AfriCane | September 23, 2021 at 09:32 PM
I bet we rush the ball for close to 200 this weekend.
Manny catches a break and a perfect time to get the greenhorn QB's some P.T.
No way in the world that we don't have a couple more reruns of the past 3 games, with 9 games left. To many things to fix to help Manny save his job. He's one more blow out, I believe from getting some bus tickets.
Getting beat down 4 games in a row by power 5 schools and not being prepared should get u the exit.
Mario will cost some cabbage to get him here. May thumb his nose even if asked.
The other names they could go after, is Campbell at ISU and Fleck from Minn.
We don't need no more starter kits for someone who has never been a head coach.
Forgot, Billy Napier is another name.
Who ever Andd whenever needs to be a great recruiter and developer of talent.
Ivins made a good point about draftees, all the players drafted the last 3 years, have been Richt's recruits. Nobody has stepped up and gotten better and I'm talking at least all ACC potential.
We have 9 or 10 recruits left on the board that we are going after and the way we are playing, we'll be lucky to get one of those dudes.
They just this week expanded their board and are even going after a Jucco. Covid can't save Manny this year with recruits, it will have to be their performance, which ain't getting no curtain calls. We got 9 recruits with about 10 weeks to go. No commits in about 2 months. It's ride or die with Skinner at TE. They have 2 offensive Linemen left on the board, with one being Armella and the other from a kid out west Agbo.
One LB, Bisainthe and that's the main position we absolutely suck at.
3 Dee linemen left and all are now longshots.
I have even read where Taylor has talked about the Portal. Kid hasn't played a snap, WTF.
How bad can it be to try others, when it already is bad. What do u have to lose??????
