We all know that Alabama showed The University of Miami football team what it looks like to play the game we call "football" in Atlanta.

Sure, we all saw that "Roll Tide" demonstrated how to be aggressive and how to execute the fundamentals of the game such as blocking, tackling, running, passing and scoring. Apparently, they call it football.

Miami demonstrated how not to play the game. They played scared, confused and conservative in the game and never competed. They missed tackles, they dropped passes and got worn down like an old tire.

What we saw was Advantage Alabama.

Now, your Miami Hurricanes face off against Appalachian State in a home game at Hard Rock Stadium. So if there is a rebound game for the Bama loss, App State may be the cure for that. Or, maybe not, we do not know.

We say Miami wins 34-13.

However, with manny and lashlee (who chokes in every big game) it is almost guaranteed we lose at least 2 more times this year. And yes, I said at least.
Lashlee is a huge disappointment- how he didn’t use Mallory and arroyo 15 to 20 times in this game amazes me; and to run over and over and not throw more downfield passes is also beyond my comprehension; and yes, they had pressure, but we could of rolled our and thrown downfield, we could of played like we weren’t afraid to lose etc
In other words, sorry to tell you but manny and lashlee are NOT the guys for the job!

Kevin Kelley has made a name for himself as the high school football coach who never punts and almost always attempts onside kicks. According to Kyle Deckelbaum of KATV in Little Rock, Ark., the longtime high school coach will take his out-of-the-box philosophy to FCS Presbyterian College as the next head coach of the Blue Hose.

Since taking over as head coach at Little Rock's Pulaski Academy 18 years ago, Kelley has proven his strategy works, winning nine state championships. Now, he'll have the opportunity to try to prove himself at the college level.

Much of his fourth down decision-making stems from the research of David Romer, an economics professor at Cal, who found that NFL teams should always go for it on fourth-and-4 or less. This type of thinking involving risk aversion vs. risk taking stuck with Kelley, who has said in many interviews that the numbers support his strategy, so there's no reason not to do it.
In terms of onside kicks, Kelley views it this way: if his team kicks it into the end zone, the other team gets the ball at the 20-yard-line. If they try the onside kick and don't recover, the other team gets the ball around their own 45-yard-line. He's willing to sacrifice those 25 yards because he knows his team will recover at least 25% of its onside kick attempts. These extra possessions—in addition to his aggressiveness on fourth down—have helped produced one of the most dominant offenses in high school football over the last two decades.

Here's what i have been thinking. Are we really this bad and Alabama pretty good or is Alabama really really good and we are not as bad as it looked. If we could tackle just a little bit it could have been closer. If Alabama goes on and beats the hell out of everyone they play which looks like they just might do we may not be so bad after all.

We need some one to demonstrate the art of tackling to the defense sense they missed that class. Trumps fault, so they should get to take it over again. That would make a Hugh difference.
I think it is important to tackle in the game of football right VA, it's one of the fundamentals.

Next is who is going to learn to call the plays. Do we even have anyone that knows how to call a play, doesn't look like it to me.

Go Bama, beat the hell out of everyone you play and keep us from looking so bad.

Nice thoughts Harry; we sure did miss the tackling class, boy it was bad. I feel like we have been tackling bad since the Fiesta Fiasco...even that game. Tackling is indeed a key fundamental of the game, and we do not do it.

I stress block tackle run catch kick stance throw...and most importantly THINK...about how you do each of these... where you are and what you do on the field. We do not think...and these kids are not dumb...they do not listen and even more important we do not coach with consequences...you have to get in the ear of people and sometimes the rear end. In todays game you have to execute these fundamentals. We are still coaching like somebodies Mommy...kinder gentler...and still run the same lame 20 year old sequence...run run pass punt...over and over.

I think Bama is good...as all Saban teams are...cause they fear not the old man...but failure...they fear losing he has made it that way. Thats good on the field...and even better in life.

I have heard of him years ago actually. It will be interesting to see how moving up a level of talent skimming and different developmental windows on players on the field affects the averages on the strategy. In college the recovery rates for onside kicks hover closer to the 10% success rate, so he's going to lose half those extra possessions and double or more the loss of field yards to defend with on the scoreboard which isn't going to help unless he knows something the rest of the slaves to tradition don't on the sidelines. To me, the more convincing argument for this strategy comes into play when you lay out the fact that each fourth down conversion a team makes in a football game is on average worth about 2.5 points per successful conversion on average.

But then again, Norvell probably lost the game on Sunday by going for it on fourth down in his own territory in the third quarter which lead to the quick touchdown score after a turnover on downs putting them behind 18 points with about that many minutes left on the clock, so field position still is a factor in victory no matter what a math nerd tells you numbers support that's contrary to that perception.

But I think the point is, lashlee play calls like a freaking wimp in all big games. No guts at all and a terrible game plan. I’d rather lose playing fast and aggressive, than the way we lost.
Obviously it’s manny, but I think it falls on lashlee and king. I think king is highly overrated - as a passer he is slow on his feet thinking of his progressions etc
Personally if I can’t get manny and lashlee fired, I’d like to put Garcia back there and have him sling it around to guys like Mallory, arroyo, X, key’shawn, and the freshmen

Lashlee wants to have a running game so bad he can't stand it. It's like by god we are going to run it no matter if we keep running into a brick wall. He's got that 50% problem of run pass that is history. Just watch the pros,they run it 20 maybe 25 times a game and throw it 40. If they get behind by 10 or more points in the first qt. they run it less than 20 times a game.
Lash is thinking of by gone days.
Everybody we play jams the box up, to make us beat them passing but we keep trying to wedge out 2 yards.

Play calling will cost you a close game, substandard execution will lose you a blowout every time. Play calling faults made sure Notre Dame escaped with a win, execution faults lost UM's game before halftime in their respective openers.

A lot of recruits going to be at the game. Miami better be ready to play. APP St can move the ball.
They have good receivers with speed. A good QB that can get the ball to them. We need to put pressure on there QB.. He is not good when under pressure. We need to sack him 4 or 5 times. If we do this we can win, if not who knows.
We need to stop the run, they have a good RB. We will have to tackle better and stop the run better then last week. They have a lot of speed.
