VA - Love ya Bro but sometimes it pays to read the articles 86 works so hard to put together for us.

“It was a positive result, for sure,” head coach Dave Sanderson said. “We’ve been working on fundamentals in practice as that is what the fall is for – getting things started. To be able to compete and race and have them come out ahead with good rows, that is all you can ask for.”

That’s a quote from the rowing coach lol

Agree with this.

I remember Ken Dorsey was absolutely horrible in that freshman year against Va Tech. Things can change in year two for a player.

Ed Orgeron’s next job is way too obvious.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/ed-orgeron-s-next-job-is-way-too-obvious/ar-AAPFgVO?ocid=entnewsntp&pc=U531

There is a very strong possibility the Miami Hurricanes gig opens up at the end of the season. Halfway through the 2021 campaign, Miami is 2-4 and head coach Manny Diaz finds himself on the hot seat. Though Miami has not been The U for some time, this is a program that can flourish historically with the right head coach at the helm. Orgeron can crush recruiting in South Florida.

More importantly, Orgeron served as Miami's defensive line coach during the glory days from 1988 to 1992. He was on Jimmy Johnson and later Dennis Erickson's staffs before personal issues derailed his coaching career. Before it hit the fan for him in Coral Gables, Orgeron coached NFL stars such as Cortez Kennedy, Russell Maryland and Warren Sapp, as well as WWE star The Rock.

Sarasota 'cane

Butch Davis has a better shot of coaching the ‘canes than Orgeron and Butch has no shot.

AeroCane

No to Ed

TJL

Need to read the piece in the Athletic re Ed O
He's a total assclown and I doubt he will be hired anywhere. He hasn't changed since he was on Dennis Erickson staff here and was always walking around Coconut grove drunk as a skunk and I know that firsthand

Sarasota 'cane

I can’t access the Athletic article but there are a bunch of other articles to read about Ed. Orgeron will likely never coach again, let alone in Miami.
And did you see the buyout money for Ed and his coordinators over the last 2 seasons? $24,000,000!
The LSU coordinators received larger buyouts than all of Miami’s coaching contracts combined, including UM’s head coach. I’m pretty sure Pellini’s buyout alone was more lucrative than all of Miami’s coaching contracts.

HerbieIbis

I believe Pellini got 4 mil. as a parting gift. Not bad to be bad for one year.

HerbieIbis

Fellas, we are in a quandary, we want the Canes to win but we know the man leading us has got to go, like yesterday. We keep hoping each weekend, this will be the time, some team puts us out of our misery. It will take just one beat down for him to be gone. The last 2 games, the first half looked like his time was up only for the players to throw him a life preserver or the other teams just doing enough to not blow us out.
I want us to win but if we are going to get beat, let us get beat down. Eff moral victories.
Every game is a struggle and with the so called talent we have it shouldn't be if the players do their part, which they are not.
Coaching or lack there of is also an issue but suddenly forgetting how to tackle is on the players. Some of those upper classmen are playing not to get hurt and going thru the motions. The only thing saving this team are the freshmen, who are trying to bust there asses but are still in the learning phase, so mistakes are going to happen.
We should have made a change during the bye week and now u might as well let Manny ride off into the abyss.
This administration is a total joke, when it comes to sports teams.
Wash. St. Just fired Rolovich because he didn't get the covid shot and 4 of his assts.
Obviously they are in a democratic state so the powers that be don't give a dam.
How long are they going to wait. We have 8 recruits. I hate to be the next man coming in either after the first signing day happens or right before. This class will suck as far as rankings go. We may get a couple more big timers only because they are probably mommas boys and don't want to venture far away, not because of Diaz.
How do u turn a team with 19 of 22 starters back into also rans? Sorry prep work and not getting rid of the disease that is plaguing this team, especially on defense. Hall, Carter and Bolden have sold out. Crouch, although our best cover guy, is also a liability because he can't tackle. Dude maybe weighs 165. We already know our LB's are late filling in gaps and that group as a whole are pitiful.
Yes they have sold out and us fans have to suffer. Yes we have lost a lot of players for the year but I say that is par for the course for what this season has turned out to be. The only good thing, who ever coaches next and if the players stay and don't transfer, this team could be very good down the road. Reminiscent of the late 90's.

HerbieIbis

Forgot to mention Ivey as a sellout.

TJL

This article gives me hope is true:

https://miami.rivals.com/news/opinion-the-future-of-miami-football-becomes-about-business

HerbieIbis

Well let's hope they aren't a bunch of wind bags. Something has got to be done and no doubt if we get punked by NCST the time would be that Sunday. No sense in putting off the inevitable. We can still win 6 games with an interim head coach. It couldn't be any worse. We would be down 2 coaches by losing Manny but so what. We get a jump start on searching for a new coach. No doubt USC has a big head start and LSU will too unless they act now.

HerbieIbis

Sam Brooks wasn't at practice the week before UNC game. Played some the week before but I read where he was portal bound. Not saying he will but Somethings not right.
What the portal giveth, it will take away.

AfriCane

But this is what I don’t get; how can a whole team go for shoulder shot tackling? Even JW is doing it and he’s a freshman. I mean, we know they r teaching it everyday. I mean, they can’t sit anyone as purnishment if the whole fokking D is doing it. R they teaching shoulder shots? I say no because manny is not suicidal. He’s not going to teach what will get him fired. With all the 5/4 stars we have, and they r not taking coaching? Can someone make it make sense. I’m confused AF. Is he too nice with the kids.
I mean, the man is standing all alone in the stadium, sad, after the game was done, thinking back to what happened. He was crying during post game interview. R we to think that he’s not preaching accountability when this means so much to him?

AfriCane

He’s passion reminds me of Randy Shanon. I heard Randy’s whole world came coming down when he was fired because he gave everything to his job. They may be passionate but they r not good. But I do feel for them.
I’m in management, and I know u can’t just tell kids to do this and that. U have to build a whole system to show them there’s something bigger than just them. It’s easier to get buy in that way. The ones that don’t, loose them. But most likely, most will buy in when u build a solid system.
Jeff Simpson teaches tackling. T-Rob for sure does.
Damn!!!

AfriCane

Anyone blaming TVD can go pound sand. He’s the best QB we’ve had in a minute. The throws he makes, his heart. Dude is built for the league. He was destroyed when that ball was batted down.

AfriCane

Anyone catch Rohan Marley on I AM ATHELETE?
Takes u back to old school football.
It’s on YouTube. Check it out.

AeroCane

Afri
A few things
Sure manny and Randy loved Miami and they were/are both over their heads, can’t figure it out and basically just SUCK as head coaches! The sooner manny is fired the better!
As for TVD, I don’t think anyone dislikes him BUT we all know Garcia is better; hey drew Bledsoe was a good QB but Brady was and is better! IJS

TJL

TVD has all the physical qualities but in my opinion he doesn't have that "IT" factor nor does he have the experience. Look at all the freshman lighting up college football-They come in big game ready having played at big time programs. TVD played in Connecticut!! He would have received better competition playing in a South Florida powder puff league

AeroCane

See my post above
I agree and wholeheartedly believe Garcia does have the IT factor

1. This. Passion does not always equal success. There are probably dozens of ingredients in the "success" recipe, and passion is only ONE of them.

2. Nailed it! This is what separates coaches who may be good technicians (Xs and Os) and know the sport (like some former players) from the great coaches who are leaders and create a "shared vision" for all of those around them that they can understand, accept, appreciate and fully buy into and support.

3. Bottom Line: Telling people what to do and just expecting them to do it is easy. Leadership and motivation and is much more complicated than that.

86Cane

I agree and wholeheartedly believe Garcia does have the IT factor

Posted by: AeroCane | October 20, 2021 at 10:46 AM

Have to disagree for now.

Saying Garcia has the IT factor at this point and time is pure speculation based on personal beliefs or hope and faith. Need WAY more evidence to support this statement than we currently have to say that with any degree of certainty or level of confidence.

For those hoping for a coaching change despite Brown's defense not being as good again this year last week, this is the week for you where a slow start can spiral into a regime change being forced because this is the best team left on the schedule.

Miami will likely miss a bowl this year so that's probably still what makes any change occur, but this week and next are the spots an in season dismissal are most possible if you're hoping to see it transpire.

Old Skool

Rumors quack that LSU will make a run for Mario. I trust there's some behind-the-scenes contact with him by UM to at least let him know there may be interest. Whether there's a bidding war and Mario decides to fly the coop, lake or pond is another story.

Best QB ever to not win a SB! As a fins fan, it’s terrible for us and him!

If things transpire, the way that article was written and they are going to get serious about athletics and especially football, we can all thank Herbstreit for getting the ball rolling.

AfriCane

Herb, the fans and herbstreit. Herbstriet always loved the U.

Coaches I see: Luke finkell, OC @ bama, urban Mirer if he’s fired (see what I did there?:)) I know he’s a controversial figure.
My reason, I need big time ceo, no nonsense guys. I would like to go get some no name badass from somewhereville & he totally turns shit around, after all, we wrote the book on that (and many other things), we just cannot afford to play Russia roulette right now.
And for the others coaches mentioned, I see flaws in a lot of their games. I’m been overly cautious and conservative in cutting a lot of other consensus coaches off, but there’s no room for errors. Waiting for football season takes a long time. And giving a new coach 4 years, even longer. I just can’t any more.
And also, Bob stoop…..mark can stay his ass in fried chicken country. Like coach Hayes said, it’s easy for these coaches where the expectation is low, like at 6, 7 wins. Miami is Natty from the jump. And in my opinion Bob is the only stoops I’ll take a flyer on for getting us there.

AfriCane

Did u all see where JW0 took on the whole NC team by himself?
U know how far we’ve fallen when the other players didn’t get his back. Remember FIU when that big fight happened. Damn! The dog don lost its bite!!

Posted by: AfriCane

That’s what she said! LOL
And with that said, I expect them to run crazy on us and score at will - and after the game manny will fire his DC and when he realizes it’s him, he’ll resign, Blake will resign amid embarrassment of being the worst AD in college, and all will be good in Caneland!

The Word From The Herb

Getting rid of those 2 is one thing but replacing them with someone better is more important.

HerbieIbis

This quote tells u how delusional Diaz is when he said Bolden has played well this year.
Hell he one of the ring leaders in missed tackles.

Old Skool

It's a pity we can't handicap players like golfers. For instance, Sean Taylor would be the standard or par for football safeties. That being said, Bubba's recent play would rate him a 20 handicap. Against NC he may have played like a 19 handicapper, so in that regard, he played well.

AeroCane

Old Skool
You see, manny knows what he’s talking about! He deserves a raise and extension ASAP!

TJL

Good article in the Athletic they polled coaches from different conferences confidentially about recruiting
a few interesting questions/answers:

How do you think realignment will impact the recruiting landscape?
Pac-12 coach: Unfortunately, it just turned the fucking SEC into the Premier League

What schools do you think should be recruiting better?
SEC coach: Florida should be killing it but they’re not. FSU and Miami stink right now.

Old Skool

The nation's number 1 HS QB plays in Tampa tonight.

Arch Manning is the latest member of the first family of football. His grandfather, Archie, had a College Football Hall of Fame career at Mississippi and went to two Pro Bowls with the Saints. His dad, Cooper, had a promising football career derailed by injuries, and uncles Peyton and Eli both won Super Bowls.

As the starter at New Orleans power Isidore Newman, he has thrown for 17 touchdowns, one interception and 1,186 yards this year, according to MaxPreps. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound junior moves well, throws well and acts exactly how you’d expect a Manning to act.

I think that AD Janes has already approved a "double secret" extension and raise for Manny. And it will officially be announced if and when UM manages to win another game this year or at the end of the season, which ever comes first.
