LET'S GO!!!

AeroCane

Great article! Very excited about Mario, this coaching staff and recruiting!
Not so excited about dimare and the baseball program.

HerbieIbis

Dam, pulled an OL that quick? Times are definitely changing.

alpine

nice article, 86!

speaking of articles, this is a fantastic article to get you up to speed on the canes begin in the ACC tourny tomorrow; lots of info; written in a nice, readable style; (larranaga's cousin totally approves!):

Coach L signs a 2 Year Extension so will be at Miami for next 4 years this contract ends in May 2026!

AeroCane

So ad Rad is no better than the others! What’s next, extending dimare?

alpine

syracuse blew FSU away 96–57

Miami needs to come out and press the hell out of BC, playing the third game in three days and having to go overtime to finish off the last one, take them out of striking distance fast.

Don't expect them to quit, they can't keep playing unless they keep winning though, so get a comfortable set of possessions lead and then lean on the clock from there with efficiency.

Haters of The Pimp just can't say, "Got that one wrong," pretty pathetic.

Buddy B threw a punch vs FSU, landing him a suspension vs. DUKE today and giving Coach K an easier path toward the winner of the BC vs UM game.

alpine

jcane, how 'bout this headline:
"boeheim lands punch, knocks self out" . . . or:
"boeheim lands punch, knocks buddy out"

MLALUMNI1979

Hi Canespacers Just checking in . Still in Michigan and then Florida on the 20th. Had the shots in my retina last week and am on my way to the OMNIAX for the vertigo chair, that spins me around, to get the crystals in the inner ear, back in their correct positions. But I am 73 now and glad to be able to get around.
Hi 86 hugs to you and Maria.

MLALUMNI 1970

Whoops, I meant MLALUMNI1970!

KYcane

Marylou

I couldn’t imagine a shot in the retina 👁

Old Skool

Yay (I guess) MLB and the owners have reached a tentative accord. Will I see a game this year? Very doubtful. Although I was thinking of going to a Marlins game with a group. Get the cheapest seats possible -- far away from everyone else -- and play poker.

Ohio_Cane

OT with BC lol

orange 'n green in the vein

Can't play that sloppy tomorrow and expect to win. Still always nice to bring your D game and find a way to hold on though.

alpine

new definition of "cardiac canes": canes vs. bc march 10th!!
unbelievable last play with 0.3 seconds left

86Cane

So those DT and LB blue chip % numbers are going to have to go up to play with the BIG boys in CFB.

Canes basketball continues to impress, no make that amaze, all of us. The most pleasant surprise of the year so far.

I think we'll be targeting those aggressively in 2023. Likewise with OL.

HerbieIbis

Well, our albetros has been line play and don't even want to talk about how LB play has been. So we supposedly have 4 guys at LB that have 4 stars. I guess if u shoot Chase Smith in their that supposedly gives us 4 but he or Bisainthe haven't played a college game their yet. The others, Huff and whoever's the other are missing links. Maybe the coaches can piece together a couple descent ones from whatever is left over. Good luck! Portal please help us.

alpine

- florida lost in the SEC tourny; that feels good

- don't see how the canes can get by duke, but i sure hope they make it exciting! NC just punished VA by 20 pts; i DEFINITELY don't want to watch the canes have to bend over before they fall

Coach L signs a 2 Year Extension so will be at Miami for next 4 years this contract ends in May 2026!

Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | March 09, 2022 at 03:32 PM

Damn it! That's a decision we may regret if UM finishes near the bottom again next year and the following year UM has another losing season (for the 4th time in the last 5 years).
Then again, the "contract extension" may simply be a "double secret" ploy to support his much needed recruiting efforts to restock the team after the season ends, because we are losing ALL of our best players.
Perhaps, he ultimately decides to retire (sooner rather than later), especially now that he set the UM record for wins - so he can retire on a high note.

The Word From The Herb

Haven't commented on BBall once but for u guys that are gurus of the program be happy for what they have accomplished with a relatively a little above average team. Miami ain't never going to a destination for the BBall elite. They'll get a few here and there.
Coach L has done wonders with this roster. I say enjoy the ride because next year it could be back to square one.
Also The All Comatose Conference is picking up the same Gene's as their football programs, Average. No I don't like this conference we're in. Nothing but a downer but it is what it is.

MLALUMNI1970

You are so right 86. Our BB team is simply awesome and amazing for all of us to watch. Duke tonight, and if we don’t win, we will be so proud of our team. They leave it all out on the floor.
GO CANES!

Harry Miller

Canes playing their heart out and hanging in against Duke.

Why not?

orange 'n green in the vein

Night like tonight reminds you why the smart choice is probably Wong coming back for the NIL money in hand worth at least twice as much in the bush of the NBA instead, Miami sure could use him next season.

Lost this game at the free throw line and being a below average rebounding team as a group. Very difficult to win when both those things are true any night!

AeroCane

I agree Nemo
Why not?
With the right coach and buzz, of course we can! It’s freaking Miami! Beautiful city, the Heat, beautiful campus and great arena!

JCane

And for baseball, a hard loss to BC. Behind 12-4 after 6, the U scores 2 and then adds 5 in the 9th with the tying run at 3rd before going down, 12-11. 3 errors and a poor pitching effort make things pretty tough.

Re: hoops, what OGV said. Missing FTs, having trouble rebounding and chucking up crazy 3s, although making 1 in the first half, make it tough to win, in spite ofbit being a close game.

Terrance Sullivan

Preach OGV!

HerbieIbis

Let me answer the why nots, has it ever?
U guys are right to ask why not but for it to happen, they have to do, a do over, like football and then maybe.

86Cane

So then for you college basketball lovers out there, IF Miami could do what Herbie is asking and get a complete reset, make over or do over like football just did, which 3 college coaches would you think could accomplish that with an unlimited budget and change Miami basketball forever once Coach L hangs them up in 2 years or so?

alpine

i had to work today and couldn't watch the game until now
- very difficult watching the canes having one of their worse FT games; they were whipped 17-6 point-wise and that was by far and away the difference in this game
- rebounds didn't help, losing that battle 40-31
. . . but the canes only lost the 2nd chance pts. by a 13-8 margin . . . considering the size difference, i'll take that any day; particularly 'cause miami won the pts.-off-TO battle 11-6 and miami was better in 3's than duke (8 of 21 vs. 5 of 19)
- overall, i kept thinking duke was bigger, badder, better, but then the canes would always find a way to miraculously hang in there (until the end) and i really have to give them credit!!
. . . it was especially weird watching them try to get to the paint thru the redwood forest
- wong got swallowed so bad on every move to the basket, you'd have thought duke's nickname was "linda lovelace"
- agree with ogv, that wong could use an extra "mcgusty" year, to get to the level mac achieved by returning for his senior year
- bring on the ncaa's!

MLALUMNI1970

Heartbreaking, for sure. But they battled long and hard. Great effort by the Canes. But, they really should have won. Duke has always been the best, and we were just as good, for sure. I guess it will be a long wait till football.
Question—-how will I watch the Canes when I am dead?? Good question. Unless, jackass Putin does us all in.
Flying to Florida next Sunday. Warm weather helps everything. ❤️❤️

alpine

va tech takes down NC by 13??!! another one i didn't see coming

Terrance Sullivan

Well Played on Linda Lovelace Line Haha! Well Come tomorrow Night we will know where our Ladies and Gentlemen Respective Basketball Teams will be Dancing 🕺💃 In March Madness!

JCane

Canes even series with BC with 11-3 win. Game 3 manana.

alpine

boom, VT whoops duke 82-67
. . . those boys are flying high right now; 4 games, 4 wins
. . . don't want to see them in the ncaa tourny right at this time

alpine

if you have 6 1/2 minutes to read about LSU corruption, this is your article!
https://www.si.com/college/2022/03/13/will-wade-lsu-fired-athletics-program-absolute-embarrassment

HerbieIbis

One of many that do exactly what LSU did but the NCAA picks and chooses who they want to spank. As long as u don't get to greedy and abuse the loop holes and at present your names aren't Bama, Georgia and Ohio St. they let u slide.

JCane

Game 3 vs BC a big 12-2 win, taking the series 2-1. Sounds good, but the poor play in game 1 prevented the sweep in a series a really good team would have swept.

Sarasota 'cane

USC 7 vs UM 10, Friday. Spartanburg, SC.
