Thank you!
A couple of additional notes to this:
Adam ElGammal appears done. There was some back and forth on whether he had returned after initially leaving following the 2020 season; he's not on the roster.
Checking on a few more. Hillery was listed as on the roster entering spring practices but may no longer be.

Here's a couple of extras - something to focus on during the next couple of weeks appear to be the defensive line and linebacker.
At defensive tackle, our blue chip ratio has fallen to the lowest level in many years (losing Stewart to the DT-hoard factory that is A&M hurt):

Well, TC as always I are the man but I will say I didn't need stats to figure that those 2 positions are lacking and then sum.
Been saying for years we need some elite DT's and for the last couple we need some talent at LB. Got nothing but the deaf ear syndrome and truth be told, we wouldn't have Taylor had it not been for covid. Mario can being in another 10 lineman but it don't mean squat, if they are going to be nothing but depth pieces. That's mostly what we have playing now is depth pieces. We have nobody comparable to Taylor at DT. LBer is a joke. Bisainthe is a year away but the rest, would be eeny meeny miney moe.
EL Gammel, Hillary and Reed should be gone. Reed was a former 4 star that has done nothing. Should of stayed in the portal the first time.

Yes, it appears Hillery is gone - he was not at spring practice and is not listed on the roster. Parrott appears done as well.
As for defensive line, this is where losing Stewart really hurts. A&M is really hoarding that position, to the likely expense of others. I think they have around 19 ends and tackles on the roster, with 3 or 4 of them five star players and most of the others listed at four star.

Miami fought off multiple major programs to land former West Virginia defensive lineman Akheem Mesidor (DE 6’3, 250) who was offered by USC, Auburn, and Tennessee. The Hurricanes were able to host for an official visit while holding off the Lincoln Riley-led Trojans who made a push for one of the top transfers in the portal.
Mesidor, the fourth defensive lineman to transfer to Miami since Mario Crsitobal took over, becomes an instant impact addition for the Hurricanes on the defensive front.
The Canadian, who played his high school football at Clearwater Academy International, emerged onto the scene early for the Mountaineers. After collecting five sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss as a true freshman in 2020, Mesidor was named a Freshman All-American by multiple outlets and was recognized on the All-Big 12 second-team by the conference's coaches.
Posted by: AeroCane | April 20, 2022 at 08:09 PM
Another site has him at 6’2, 272
Either way, a welcome addition to our DL
As I said before (and herb), we could use a huge RT, a huge DT, and at least 1 LB
I think RB, WR (I think we will be fine especially when Brinson comes back) TE, Saftey and CB are all ok
But I wouldn’t be unhappy with a 5 star type CB to pair with Richardson

Well, them numbers look pretty sweet until u compare us to, say Bama who I think had 68 or close to that number.
Where our numbers have to get better are on both lines and LB, Period! Mario is going to find the sledding is a little tougher down South, than out in the great North West. I'll give him this, it ain't for lack of trying. Dudes got ships offered to almost every big name high schooler out their.

The good thing is, we have enough talent right now to the 10 games and the costal. And the talent level will only increase under this staff.
Saw this on 247 sports..
"I mean, it's been a really long time, they joined the ACC in 2004,” Pate said. “They've had a double digit win season once. That's 18 years. There are legal adults roaming the streets of South Florida who have seen one double digit win season in their lifetimes. That's totally inexcusable on every level. And so the reason there's a lot of excitement down there is because you got 30 or 40 year old or 50 year old Miami fans who actually have, once upon a time, seen it done the way it needed to be done. And then you had a lot of people with their hands on the wheel, who had no business having their hands on the wheel. I'm not even talking about coaches. I'm talking about administrative types. I'm talking about people who love to do the window dressing, they love to go to the speaking engagements. They love to throw up the ‘U,’ but they had no business throwing it up because they had no clue what it meant. People in charge now have checked the boxes that lead you to believe they know what it means. And if they need to get out of the way and let some folks in the room who do know which direction to steer the ship, it looks like they're willing to. It looks like they're willing to write the checks and it looks like the people who are capable of writing those checks have come into the room.”

Daryl Porter and now Akeem ... West Virginia is vying with UCLA to become the U's farm team. We'll take those with big-league talent and send the Jack Alison's down to the minors.

So all in all it looks promising. But is has to develop, and take place on the practice field, weight room, training room, and film room. It wont be perfect but it is a start...to something better than we have seen in a long time.
You got to have the OL and DL filled with big fast quick smart opponent hating guys...who know how to hit hate hurt...and hate to lose. LBs as well....but this is a good start to getting to where we want to go.
Posted by: VA Cane | April 21, 2022 at 02:21 PM
Agree VA
But Mario’s not gotten any LB’s yet
Maybe a few will pop up and we will get 1 or 2 4/5 star transfers at LB ready to come in and start
Still could use a transfer ready to start RT and DT

It's vitally important. We cannot let any position degrade through inattention or recruiting failures. It's why an otherwise talented Miami team in 2006 went 7-6...they only had three wide receivers who were healthy (out of 6) by midpoint in the season. It's a contributor to our 7-5 record last year - poor cornerback recruiting.
Losing Stewart hurt, but at the same time signing him might have been worse. Not that he would not have excelled for us, but the cost to get him. The rumor is that his handler had an asking price that was so extreme as to make LSU and Alabama back off. In Miami's case, the handler was rumored to have wanted courtside, season tickets for the Miami Heat. That might have actually made us a target for an otherwise flacid NCAA.

Haley and Hanna Cavinder Announce Transfer to Miami
Haley and Hanna Cavinder are household names in women’s college basketball, not only for their abilities on the court, but the impressive platform they’ve created off of it. Now, the twins will continue their college careers in one of the sport’s best leagues, the ACC, after entering the transfer portal in March.
On Thursday night, the pair announced a transfer to Miami (Fla.). Both sisters began their careers at Fresno State, where they earned All-Mountain West honors.
The twins, who boast a social media presence with over 5 million total followers according to FOS, were at the forefront of last year’s opening of NIL opportunities for college athletes. The pair have deals with Boost Mobile, Champs Six Star Nutrition and the WWE, which signed the pair as part of its “Next in Line” NIL program. In December, Time said the pair was nearing $1 million in sponsorship income.
The Cavinders should be major contributors for the Hurricanes in 2022–23. Haley led Fresno State with 19.8 points per game last season, while Hanna was second at 14.6. The two occupied the team’s top two spots in minutes, assists and steals. Haley was the team’s top rebounder at 9.4 per game, while Hanna was third at 3.8.
Haley earned her third straight All-Mountain West team honors in 2021–22, after winning the conference’s player of the year award the season before. Hanna was a 2020 and ’21 All-Mountain West selection.

UM a finalist for coveted transfer Norchad Omier, a Nicaraguan forward with Miami ties
One of the nation’s top-rated transfers could end up joining the University of Miami basketball program.
Sun Belt Player of the Year Norchad Omier, the first Nicaraguan athlete to play Division I basketball, is transferring from Arkansas State, and UM is in his final four choices, along with Florida State, Texas Tech and Georgetown. More than 35 schools were interested in him, but he narrowed it down to those four.
Omier has already visited the Miami and FSU campuses, is visiting Texas Tech on Wednesday and Thursday and has a trip to Georgetown scheduled for Apr. 27-28. He will announce his decision after that, according to multiple sources.
The 6-7, 240-pound forward is the type of frontcourt player UM coach Jim Larranaga is looking for to replace starter Sam Waardenburg, whose eligibility expired. Omier is a low-post force who averaged 17.9 points and 12.2 rebounds per game for the Red Wolves in 2021-22. Omier shot 63.2 percent from the floor and 72.9 from the foul line.
Through his two seasons at Arkansas State, Omier averaged 15.6 points, 12.2 rebounds, and shot 59.4 percent from the floor.
Omier has ties to Miami and is followed by a legion of Nicaraguan fans in the South Florida community. He played a year of post-high school basketball at Miami Prep and was coached by Art “Pilin” Alvarez, a longtime Miami coach who has a pipeline to Latin American players. Alvarez was instrumental in bringing Puerto Rican point guard Guillermo Diaz to Miami, and Diaz wound up becoming a UM star before having a pro career in Europe.

Well, most those big time recruits will eventually figure out the money game and instead of having one hand out, they will have both them greasy palms out.
NIL will eventually strip college football to a point where the teams with the most loot will form their own league. U will a handful of halves and the rest will be have not's.
More than Half the SEC, a few big ten teams, and one or 2 out West will end up in their own league. Those teams will have most of the top players and if u want to join the party, u need some dam deep pockets.

Stop talking about extending the indoor facility to cover "100 yards." You're forgetting to cover the most important part of the field, the ENDZONES, you want to expand it to cover 120 yards, or else you're a moron.
That is all.
