Never were a leader of a collegiate team, yet, it was McGusty's team to provide that last year while reaching the round of eight where you no showed the 2nd half of the game as a group, first of all.

Second of all, barking up the wrong tree for increased NIL cash, that's on you and your representation to get that for you, not the school to secure it on your behalf, so good luck with that. At least you probably are actually way more valuable of an endorsement athlete than a twin run tik-tok account posting stuff between tossing tennis balls through an inner tube coming in from Fresno.

Third of all, work on your shot from outside, both stepping into a pass for a quick attempt and off the dribble in a step back situation, you're going to need it and this shows your priorities are all jammed up right now, which speaks to a failure of leadership that you think you should be rewarded monetarily for according to your snake oil seller.

I don’t know who is more delusional Wong and his agent or the Miami City Commissioners who thank Miami Hurricanes are going to entertain moving into a Bandbox Stadium as 2nd Tenants to Inter Miami at Freedom Park by MIA Airport where the Stadium capacity would be 40,000 boy that got some bad sticky icky in Miami Dade Daddio! They all need to stop making clowns of themselves

Canes guard Isaiah Wong has backed off threat to enter portal if he doesn't get more NIL money and won't enter portal, he told ESPN

AeroCane

TS
I love how Ruiz emphatically stated ‘He doesn’t renegotiate’! Let the kid go - at this stage, he will probably never make more than what he makes with NIL cause he ain’t an nba player!

AeroCane

Then the question is: will these boosters who have signed NIL deals, sue the kids for breaking the contract? Interesting contract law disputes.

I believe the Hurricanes will be playing at Hard Rock until the Marlins decide they want a new stadium in a new city.

Canes down at GT 3-1 in the bottom of the 8th

I'd tell Wong to take his dumbass BS and get the hell off campus right now....dont want ya dont need ya!!! Ahole kid!!!

This $ thing is going to be a problem....I could live with a kid getting room board tuition books food and $3k a month...they do not need all that money...its such BS!!!!!

Every team goes thru tough patches, eventually.

Four Miami Hurricanes entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Friday.

Wide receiver Dazalin Worsham, linebacker Deshawn Troutman, punter Nelson Foley, and defensive end Cameron Williams all entered the portal with a key deadline on May 1st approaching.

We needed the spots. Thanks guys and good luck! Surprised a few others aren’t on the list but there is still time

Nice hire!

University of Miami head men’s basketball coach Jim Larrañaga announced Wednesday the hiring of Kotie Kimble as the team’s new assistant coach. Kimble’s hire is pending completion of a standard University background check.

Kimble comes to The U with 14 years of Division I coaching experience, including the last four at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

A renowned recruiter, Kimble helped Charlotte sign the top class in CUSA each of the last four years. Included in that group is Jahmir Young, a three-time All-CUSA honoree, two-time first-team designee and the 2020 CUSA Freshman of the Year.

Welcome to The 🙌🏼 Coach Kimble!

Wasn't Troutman out due to other poor decisions anyway, AC?

You can put Pack, Miller, Omier, 1/2 a game of minutes each night from the platoon post combination of Walker and Gak with Wong, which gives you Robinson, Beverly, Popular and Joseph for plenty of depth finally and do damage. Find one more post threat in the transfer portal or in a signing class addition and contend in the conference again even if you're not under the radar to start the season this time. Without it you're using Miller against a mismatched hopefully guard out of the low block a lot instead, which isn't the worst idea in the world but night after night could be difficult in conference.

AeroCane

OGV
I don’t understand a word you’re talking about but Im sure you know your basketball so whatever you say ‘I agree’!

HerbieIbis

Plenty of time to strategize about basketball after roster turn over.

Now student-athletes have agents who solicit and negotiate NIL deals for them - agents who want to represent them, if and when they "turn pro".

TURN PRO? My bad! It should read "if and when they OFFICIALLY turn pro."

Congress needs to amend the federal antitrust act to allow the NCAA to 1) AUTHORIZE member schools to pay (higher) expense allowances up to a specified limit and 2) BAN student-athletes from receiving NIL payments.

HerbieIbis

Start giving them crumbs, they want entrees. They should of set a limit at what a kid could earn but it seems limitless and there is no control.

Billionaire Booster Could Reveal Plans for Potential UM Stadium at Tropical Park

https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/article/billionaire-booster-could-reveal-plans-for-potential-um-stadium-at-tropical-park/ar-AAWOntb?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=d79b6b18271349f1b8bc9e6206564656

Hey, Broward County Hard Rock fans. Don't worry. It ain't going to happen (any time soon). John Ruiz may be a "billionaire" on paper from stock ownership in Life Wallet and Cigarette boat company. (Incidentally, does either business earn a profit?) However, I seriously doubt that his liquid assets would be enough to cover the cost of a project of this magnitude - which means that county government would need to pay much of the cost - a dubious proposition, I think. Also, it's not so easy getting out of Tropical Park when there is an event there. (Try it some time. You'll see!) Roadway improvements would also be necessary.
On the positive side, at the very least, if this initiative and/or the Mas brothers' soccer stadium are plausible options for UM, this gives the university some much needed leverage to negotiate an extension (under favorable terms) of it current lease at Hard Rock stadium.

BOTTOM LINE. Don't get me wrong - because I hope that I am wrong. I would love to see UM get a state-of-the-art stadium built close to the UM campus. This would be a capstone gift for UM's 100th Anniversary which is fast approaching. And if John Ruiz truly has the financial resources for a project of this magnitude, more power (and praise) to him. Moreover, I suppose he could also buyout the remaining years of UM's Hard Rock lease from Mr. Ross (as part of the deal). If his Tropical Park plan is feasible, WHY NOT DO IT?

CGNC

Hi Nemo - Tropical Park is a bad idea. I used to get up on the weekends and drive down early in the morning for horse shows there and that was bad enough. There is never a good time to be at or near Bird Road LOL.

I understand. Access and egress would be a major issue without significant roadway improvements. Therefore, the Regional Planning Council and the state Department of Transportation would need to be involved in any decision to approve a stadium at this site - in addition to Miami-Dade County. And getting the necessary approvals may not be so easy. Also, if a county bond issue is required to finance any part of this project, a countywide referendum may be required. Again, this may not be so "doable".

Yes, Tropical Park is not ideal. However, if it was feasible, it could be a better option than being entirely dependent on a "good deal" from whomever owns Hard Rock Stadium when our lease come up for renewal. And I have no doubt that most UM students would prefer a stadium closer to campus.

One thing is for sure. If and when Mr. Ruiz makes his big announcement, it will be real interesting to see UM's reaction!

Rough week for Canes on the diamond drops them to #6, although leading the ACC for now, 1 spot behind #5 VTech.

Pittsburgh wide receiver Jordan Addison, the Biletnikoff Award winner in 2021, is in the portal (may 1st so he doesn’t need to sit out a year). NIL is out of control. Supposedly usc has offered 7 figures in nil and the Pitt coach narduzzi is calling usc out for tampering! It’s getting interesting!

Well well well what do we have here?

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/page/earlytop25050322/north-carolina-tar-heels-no-1-way-too-early-top-25-men-college-basketball-rankings-2022-23

"22. Miami Hurricanes

Previous: Unranked

In an unusual turn of events, the Hurricanes owned college basketball's headlines over the final couple weeks of April. First, they landed Kansas State transfer Nijel Pack -- the top transfer in the portal at the time of his commitment -- and it emerged shortly after that he also had signed a name, image and likeness (NIL) contract worth $800,000 over two years, plus a car. Then they landed Arkansas State transfer Norchad Omier, a top-10 transfer when he committed.

They then had the Isaiah Wong situation, in which he threatened to enter the transfer portal if his NIL compensation wasn't increased. He opted the next day not to enter the portal. Drama aside, Jim Larranaga has quickly rebuilt this roster after losing three starters from an Elite Eight team.

Projected starting lineup:

Nijel Pack (17.4 PPG at Kansas State)
Isaiah Wong (15.3 PPG)
Jordan Miller (10.0 PG)
Anthony Walker (4.9 PPG)
Norchad Omier (17.9 PPG at Arkansas State)"

Wong never authorized or claimed to know the agent was fishing the way he was on his own so there's a factual twisting for attempting to stir up trouble because that's ESPN for you. Walker has to average double digits in points a night if he's going to take starter minutes consistently and that starting five is playing a lot of defensive zone due to lack of overall height. At least they'll have decent bench depth if they stay healthy again overall as a team for another season in a row.

Let them build the new stadium; move the damn Marlins in there...Loan Depot Park seats 37,442....do they sell out ever? Who wants to see a dull game like baseball....its like going to a stadium to take a nap..baseball is boring!!!!

Get all the rich folks in Miami to buy them out send them to a 35,000 seat stadium as proposed, expand Loan Depot to bigger size....and give it back to the rightful owners who earned it with thrills chills and 5 NCs in football! To tear the Old Lady down was one thing...damn shame many memories...but to give it to a dull outdated boring game like baseball....no way....who you want to see...Marlins or Canes....there aint but one answer!

Like McCartney said...

"Give Ireland back to the Irish
Don't make them have to take it away
Give Ireland back to the Irish
Make Ireland Irish today"

VA Cane says....

"Give OB Grounds back to UM,
Don't make them have to take it away;
Give OB Grounds back to The Canes,
Make OB Grounds Canesville today!"

Amen! screw the damn Marlins and boring baseball
The grounds are sacred OB UM grounds....ours for the taking!!!!! JMO

nemo2020

Si! Si!

VA CANE, I predicted about a decade ago that UM would ultimately end up back at the former Orange Bowl site - when the Marlins moved to another city (which I thought back then, and still think today, is inevitable).

VA Cane

I think WE belong there....The Old Lady was a great home field advantage....I remember her well....it was old loud kinda tired...but when you played there you knew you were in for a fight...fight of your life...well the last few years we were not so hot...but still 58 straight is incredible....throw them out Nemo...w're taking over...it would be a perfect sight....build a soccer stadium...let Marlins play there....We got to take this city over again....A Canes Thing!!!!

HerbieIbis

VA,
Agreed baseball can be boring to watch and I coached it for over 30 years but hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do, especially at 100 mph. The Canes do own 4 ships in baseball. I'm a college football freak and keeping up with recruiting is what I keep up with all year
I wouldn't call what I have witnessed from the football team for close to 20 years, inspiring. Hopefully things will change and hopefully we get our own digs. 50 thousand seat stadium should be sufficient to begin with.

JCane

Tyler Johnson and I. Walker hit the portal

HerbieIbis

Walker, has some issues and I believe at one point, it was gaining weight. Johnson, probably could be a good LB for a smaller school.
Now we are weeding out the space takers. Got a few more holding out for a miracle. Just need to hand them over and beat it.
