Wish he had redshirted. He could be amazing in 2024 rather than just ahead of schedule in his development this year only if he takes one next season instead still though.

Necessity is the mother of...starting QBs?

KYcane

Stephen Morris redux

HerbieIbis

He can do allot with a new OC, refined passing skills and a few more studs up front.
Gattis has got go.
Run a true spread with tempo. To many teams out putting up big numbers with a whole lot less talent.
We got the dough, so we got no excuse.

Boom 💥 Go Canes!

The offense is stale....reminds me of the SOS we have seen....the young man played well....good to see the kids do well....I am just not interested in a bowl game for UM....we suck in bowls....we havent won a meaningful one in ages....even the wins were not great....I think we need to focus on off season getting strong lean....focus on a real plan...Mario needs a full off season to focus....teach the damn fundamentals...our tackling and blocking is so bad....when will the basics that make champions be addressed....ask JJ...he was about do your job! We have to hone our basic skills...you will never win if you dont.

*Nice blog title BTW!😂 Worth the price of admission!

So Va Cane, you're saying a 21-20 beat down of Nevada in the 2006 MPC Computers Bowl is NOT a "meaningful one"?

(MAN, we suck at Bowl games... )🤮

JCane

3-0 in hoops, beating FAMU tonight. We may not thinking beating early small schools means much (remember MTSU? Gag..), but looking at FSU at 0-3, losing to Troy, and FU losing to FAU, still warms my heart just a little.

JCane

IMG edge M'Pemba announces on 12/4. Probably UGa, but the U is possible. That being said, Jayden Wayne has some rumors going about flipping, even to FU. Hope not. Would be a big loss. Would love the two teammates to pair at UM.

VA Cane

We can only hope....I think most of the excitement and anticipation we had at the beginning of the season is like a balloon when you release the neck instead of knotting it...deflated...unfortunately and there will be consequences and fallout that I do not think can be avoided...things happen...beyond ones control...that change things.

If you are a kid who loves football and you look around the nation...you see Georgia Ohio State LSU on the rise MI....Bama TN USC UNC so many teams with 1 or 2 losses....and you see the success...you got to think after seeing us just stumble and fall flat out of the gate...especially such a poor offense, a non tackling defense, poor execution of fundamentals and the losses to TAMU, UNC, FSU, Duke, and MT..and this Sat Clemson gonna drill us.....especially the offense where TVD and Garcia will be gone...would you really think I can play big time college ball there?....tough call...I know what I think cause I am around kids who are really good and I hear them...they ride me about UM.
so we will see what happens I love the U....and I thought this year we would really show up....but its pretty much the same...actually a little worse that every year since 2003..19 and counting....JMO

Thank U Sir! Glad somebody noticed.

JCane

And Gilbert Frierson to the portal at end of season, with 1 year of eligibility left...

Harry Miller

I noticed, just read it, It was great blog.

If Brown can improve against Clemson, stay in the game for a while, don't lose by more than 10 points by scoring 24 with Browen having an outstanding game, beat Pittsburg. I would be in favor of a bowl game.

Trying to stay positive here for one more game at least.

VA Cane

Yes it is a true title..Brown did good for U..kid did a nice job...maybe he is the future....I do not see TVD going to the NFL in the draft....who would draft him....he has shown he cannot compete against very average college competition..and he will most likely need some kind of procedure..hope not....he didnt do much in the first 2...bad couple games...then hurt....Love him but he is not close to NFL ready...so next year it is between him and brown...Garcia is gone I think...

Dan Tana

This is the most promising early season mens basketball squad I’ve seen in Larranaga’s tenure. Wooga and Joseph have made dramatic improvement on both sides of the court. Nacho is an absolute beast. The freshmen AJ Casey will be in the rotation by mid year. The only head scratcher is Walker who seems to have regressed.

Barring injuries, this is going to be a 9 to 10 man deep squad: something Larranaga has never had at Miami. Exciting times ahead for mens Bball.

orange 'n green in the vein

UM went 10 deep on the basketball team as recently as 2015-16's season, right before the FBI investigation damaged their program while Kansas finally gets around this year to sanctioning their coach for actually doing wrong in the same fiasco, funny how that works huh? Anyway, the rotation that year was Sheldon Mac, Angel Rodriguez, Davon Reed, Jaquon Newton, Tonye Jekiri, Ivan Cruz-Uceda, Anthony Lawrence II, and James Palmer Jr. averaging at least a 1/4 of a game minutes for 30+ games that year They also had an underdeveloped freshman Ebuka Izunda, who turned out to be a quality starter later, in spot duty at the end of that bench, so it was pretty deep. 2012-13 was another deep bench team but they were banged up so it wasn't a uniformly deep roster all season long. This would be the deepest team since the faked FBI scandal directed toward UM disrupted the ability to recruit players to the program though, if they can find a couple of dependable post players to get quality minutes out of before conference play starts, that's accurate.

Ohio_Cane

Supposedly QB Jaden Rashada (who flipped from UM to UF) is getting a BIG NIL deal. $4 years, $11 million

orange 'n green in the vein

$2.75 million a year to live in Gainesville the best four years of your life? Still not really worth it.

Can't lose, what you never had.

Preach OGV on our Canes Hoops Team!

orange 'n green in the vein

Oh and I somehow messed up and forgot to include Kamari Murphy in that above '15-'16 season rotation before hitting post, so let me correct that oversight here, which makes 10 deep and a future serviceable starter as the 11th spot in the rotation for emergency for that squad. Oops, guy could play, don't want to slight him.

The rumors of a certain RB walking off the field during practice, yes they are true. It’s ok, there will be more transfers happening between now and December 5th.

I don’t expect Miami’s roster to look nearly the same by the onset of spring practices.

^^ This is on Thad Franklin, just FYI

Ohio_Cane

Also, Gil Frierson entering the portal as a grad transfer after the season (Dec 5)

VA Cane

I suspect there will be a lot more....I expect Garcia to go....and maybe TVD....he needs to have a really good year...somewhere....no way is he NFL ready....he looked very average vs everyone he played against...he did play good vs UNC in a loss...but he is certainly not NFL ready...and he is hurt...I see the frustration in Mr Rappaports face...if healthy, and surrounded by strong talent...ie a really good team I think another year and he is ready to go to NFL...but I do see him leaving...

Perhaps Mario needs to get through the season and start recruiting his own players rather than trying to pacify a very disgruntled fan base by taking a possible 6-6 team (Clemson kills us again...Pitt?) limping into a meaningless bowl where we are 4-12 in bowls since Fiasco in The Fiesta....25% winning number....not good....we certainly need to regroup....and get back to work....

Nice reports on Hoops OGV...promising team

Ohio_Cane

They're talking 20-30 leaving after this season. Culture change isn't for everyone

HillViewCane

We will beat Clemson

Dan Tana

"We will beat Clemson"

hahaha

VA Cane

I would like to think so...and you never know....90.7 chance for Clemson to win....Clemson giving 19.5 points....do not know how I feel about that AlPa Golden thought he was gonna beat them too...by following the process trusting it....uhhhh...58-0 later....IJS....but one never knows you got to go in thinking you can win...

VA Cane

It would be a nice win...and their QB was supposed to be Superman III behind Deshawn Pervert and Trevor Lawrence....he has been less than expected but still he has done pretty good 2178 yds 19 tds 5 picks 65% completions...pretty good #s...in Death Valley......I dunno I dont gamble...we need to win the last 2...for some kind of pride victory....we will see

The Word From The Herb

Well, U never know which defense will show up. Now if they play like they do about every other game, we will get roasted, a la FSU.
The awfence, well what can u say, it will be vanilla for the most part and hopefully the line don't get Brown killed.
The portal will be loaded with castoff Canes.
Frierson, Franklin, Huff, Fox, Seymore, Mcgauhlin, Washington, Harrell, Mamarelli, Garcia and maybe Rooster, just to name a few I could see bolting. Throw in Miller,Haye and Chantz, as well.
Hopefully Mario can manage the damage that's already been done. Had enough talent to win 8 games if Gattis would of left the Oh as it was. That was then, this is now and we suck and to use Patrick Swayze's words in Road House, "It will get worse before it gets better"! The bottom could come this weekend. Give Mario until year 3 and if the same shyt is happening, then shove that Brinks truck, thats backed up to Mario's garage into first gear and head out of town.
Next year will be up and down with a lot of youth and portal guys.

HerbieIbis

Mark Fletcher decoms from OSU, hopefully Ennis next.

We will beat Clemson

Posted by: HillViewCane | November 16, 2022 at 07:36 PM

I LOVE your enthusiasm. But I strongly disagree. We're not nearly good enough to beat them. Especially on the road.

orange 'n green in the vein

Clemson's defense is starting to get banged up late in the year, just like everybody else, though.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/35033639/clemson-cb-malcolm-greene-rest-season-groin-injury

Miami played one ACC division champion close, if they can do it with the other as well then it's a sign the rebuild can be accelerated in time horizon to a successful finish. This one is more to me a good chance to see who is going to lead this team next year in crunch time, but Pitt is the must win rivalry home game, not this final road test one, this week.

VA - I liked your post about that little town in Virginia. Sad situation, the shooting.

VA Cane

CGNC...sad this happened UVA is a really fine school in a nice small city....I remember the young man as a teen we played against him....a lot of info circulating about his life...its sad for all involved....he did something horrible but we see this more and more and maybe thats why I coach still....I try to help my kids in every way I can.

My HS team is really good and we have a great shot at a state title but they still are kids and they have issues in life....it is so easy for them to slip through the cracks....I try to be there for them in any way I can. This is my first year with this group, but they seem to enjoy playing for me and we have developed a strong bond. Thanks for your kind thoughts.
