The University of Miami men’s basketball team ascended three places in this week’s national rankings.
Miami (11-1, 2-0 ACC) jumped from No. 25 to No. 22 in both the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
The Hurricanes went from 100 points in the AP Poll to 208 this week and from 55 points in the Coaches Poll to now 150, an increase of 95-plus in each.
Miami’s No. 22 position in the Coaches Poll is its highest by that outlet since placing No. 19 on Jan. 8, 2018.
The Hurricanes continue competition Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. with a top-25 matchup against sixth-ranked Virginia, live on ACC Network from the Watsco Center.

The Miami Hurricanes are No. 8 in Collegiate Baseball’s Fabulous 50 NCAA Division I Pre-Season Poll, the publication announced Tuesday morning.
The Hurricanes garnered a top-25 preseason ranking for the ninth time in the past decade. Miami is the lone ACC program to earn a top-10 preseason mark from Collegiate Baseball in three of the last four years, trailing only four-time pick and SEC power Vanderbilt, nationally.
The complete Collegiate Baseball Fabulous 50 NCAA Division I Pre-Season Poll can be viewed HERE.
Miami is one of 10 teams from the ACC in the annual Collegiate Baseball preseason poll. The Hurricanes are joined by No. 6 Louisville, No. 10 Wake Forest, No. 11 North Carolina, No. 16 Virginia, No. 23 Georgia Tech, No. 28 Virginia Tech, No. 30 NC State, No. 32 Florida State and No. 42 Clemson.
In 2022, head coach Gino DiMare’s fourth season, the Hurricanes earned a national seed and hosted a regional for the first time in six years. Miami tallied a 40-20 overall record, leading the ACC with 20 conference victories. The Hurricanes were ranked as high as No. 2 nationally and notched a 14-game winning streak, the program’s longest since 2014.

Roach...U are correct Sir and I was one of them. I stand corrected. And some others were asking for Hamilton from FSU. Boy how times have changed!
BTW...how is the post-hurricane recovery going?
Posted by: 58 Straight | December 20, 2022 at 01:04 PM
Slow... We're "tarped" in but waiting for a full roof replacement, probably not till after Christmas. We did better than most in our town though. Just got an Insurance settlement, so lining up contractors for all other repairs. (Minimum 4 months for a pool cage replacement.) Town still a disaster area, but the "piles" of debris are gradually receding. Thanks. 🙌🏼

OC:
I hope you're right, although I'm still not 100% convinced on Joseph or Hussey coming our way. Joseph still seems like he's leaning toward FSU, and with Hussey, I'm not sure (seems like a coin toss, which is still better than a few weeks ago).
Gore sounds like he's generally locked in. He sounds like a smart disruptive DL, although at 6 foot, not really tall enough. Guess this still works out when we need a rotation given so many guys departing. Adeleye sounds likely to MSU, like you said, but it doesn't sound totally like a done deal yet. Guess we'll find out soon.
Thornton sounds like he's leaning our way, but if he isn't planning on signing tomorrow, there is too much time potentially out there to feel comfortable with anything imo. Would love to have him.
Truly really want an Inniss flip, as does most of south Florida, but I'm not convinced that we'll get the 11th minute flip from OSU. However, if Fletcher and hopefully Damari Brown (I don't think he announces until later in the day, maybe 3:15) head our way, all out of Heritage, I suppose anything is possible.
For those keeping track of legacies, as mentioned earlier, yes the Brown come by way of Selwyn, and Rueben Bain comes by way of Tolbert.
Nice 10 point lead over UVa at the half. Larranage has always been the man. The problem is the Adidas stuff and the NCAA really limited his recruiting for years. Nobody could have succeeded with their hands tied that way. I'm truly pleased to see him having a chance for his career to not end on that type of low note. He never deserved that.

Well, the fruits of Mario's labor should bare us a bountiful of delight tomorrow.
Still has work to do at DT and WR.
Nice if we finish with Hussey, Joesph and Brown.
Mikeska flipping to SC, no big deal.
Now to Gore, the dude has got some talent, no doubt but 6'0. What's he going to do bite some kneecaps off. Won't have to block him just fall on him.
Anyway, he'll be with us after tomorrow.
Thornton we need and one more just like him too. Iniss, unless he waits to sign, I don't see him flipping. Don't know who the QB is going to be for the Buckeyes, cause Stroud will be gone.

Boom 💥 Go Canes 12-1 and 3-0 in ACC Play. Big Time Win with a Packed Watsco Center. Loved It. Keep It Going Daddy! Yessir VA it was a measuring stick Game tonight!

Coach L was mixing up rotations all evening to throw VA off their rhythm. As usual VA eventually went Andaconda late and was able to take us out of ours as well almost take this one away. Great pose by our guys in a tight one. Wong has taken his game to another level; kudos to the young man.
Great win!

I break for Canes Hoops talk for today only to say it’s National Signing Day!
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | December 21, 2022 at 06:59 AM
Ray Ray Joseph is #1 to sign in this morning. ESD is now underway.
There were increasing rumors overnight about S. Denson, a UF verbal DB, although UM has been in talks with him for a while. Guess we'll find about if the U made the progress they wanted with him and/or Edwin Joseph as the day goes on.
Joseph announced at 11:45, Damari Brown at 3:15, and Hussey is TBD. There are still some rumors about WR FSU Hykeem Williams, but unfortunately I don't think there's much to them. He announces at 1PM, fwiw. A bunch of our verbals are scheduled to sign at 9:30, and then as the day goes on, in ceremonies.
Gotta work today. Hope the day is as much fun as it can be for all here.

Basically was able to out-personnel UVA all night which shows how much the worm has turned from a talent aquisition standpoint over the last several seasons, especially now that the refs refuse to whistle anything on UVA generally, outside of forced foul situations they're trying to freeze the clock with, since they fell as the #1 seed in the tournament years ago. Miami's tough to close on late due to their ability to get it to a good foul shooter all over the floor in late game rotations. Really great coaching job to land this one safely when they had to deal with Omier going to the bench with 11 minutes to go while in four foul trouble. Bennett's style only works if they have the best player on the floor and their best sub wasn't better than Wong last night so UM beat them at their own game despite coasting to the finish line.

Cormani McClain’s mom told social media on Wednesday morning that her son would not sign his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.
There are reports across the 247Sports National Signing Day Show that Colorado and Deion Sanders are making a late push for the nation’s top defensive player, per the 247Sports Composite. However, Miami is under the impression that Alabama and Florida, who have been two main players in this recruitment over the course of the process, are more involved.
There is still confidence on Miami’s end that they will sign McClain, who committed to the program in dramatic fashion back in October.
The reality is that these situations are unpredictable when it’s time for things to happen and we will continue to monitor what’s going on with McClain.
Again, Miami feels like they can get this across the finish line. The timeline on this is up in the air.

Sounds like Cormani sat down at the table and forgot the pen. Bad omen. It would truly suck if we lose him. We need A-1 corners, like yesterday.
Saban can lose his whole staff and still get pretty much who he wants. Dem bags are deep. Another mom may end up being our demise.
Posted by: Herbieibis | December 21, 2022 at 11:34 AM
Aside from Cormani, Edwin Joseph just committed, as originally expected, to FSU. Would love to get more of a pipeline started from his hs.

Damari Brown to the U! Nice to have him, especially as one of those coming into the day who wasn't 100% as to his plan, taking UM over Bama.

Gor,DT, and the older Mauigoa bro, LB from WSU inked with the U. All that was expected, other than Cormani, happened today, with no major surprises either direction. Damari Brown is a great pickup. Losing Cormani would hurt. Hope he sticks ultimately.
I give credit to Inniss. Hate that he picked OSU, buy liked that he said what he would do and didn't play big games about it.
