Go Canes!

VA Cane

The D looks shakey....no pressure on QB.....

whats Deion saying now...its 35-0 at half.....its one thing to talk....to execute is another...take the jewelry off the glasses off.....no place in football for that BS...any level....If I was Oregon....score more and its HHH time hit hate hurt...I would encourage the use of Tatumizers to send a message to Prime....shut up coach more talk less!!!!

KY our D is a bit leaky...they have missed a couple opportunities to score..pick hurt them...guy was wide open and they missed...this should be closer....D looks soft to me

TonyCane

Deion is probably sending runners over to the sidelines of Oregon, trying to get Ducks players to enter the portal and transfer to the Buffalos mid-game.

Terrance Sullivan

Not impressed.

Old Skool

No reason. They did what was expected.

Old Skool

Glad to see Okunlola get into the game. If anyone could destroy Temple, it's Samson.

In other obscure references ...
Apparently, it's not always sunny in Philadelphia

We handled business like we were supposed to without giving out who hurt you vibes(Cough Oregon). Let's Get Healed Up and Get Ready For Conference Play in 2 Weeks against GT. We should know in about 40 hours what Time and what Network the Game will be televised. 4-0 Baby Woooooo!

This made me literally LOL!

1) Al Golden and 2) Manny Diaz
Yes, I am that person LOL

Don't look now but Al Golden is the DC of #9 Notre Dame and Manny Diaz is the DC at #7 Penn State.

Golden I didn't know about but Diaz I did.

KYcane

Al Golden had me in flashbacks watching that last OSU drive

Considering how the injury situation is this early in the year, that was a convincing win that did everything it needed to do almost for a complete game on behalf of Miami. Got to get healthier overall on the roster and ready to take on an improved Georgia Tech team this year in a thoroughly winnable home game next month. Good spot to get Brown in as the backup or change of pace if needed for a special call, try and have Williams mop up against UVA end of October as his fourth of 12 games to keep him at the 1/3 red-shirt limit. Stadium was 25% full and split down the middle of that with Hurricane fans, just like in the Big East, no wonder Van Dyke decided to channel his evolutionary Dorsey impersonation, which as a Hurricane fan, you always love to see.

Herbieibis

Good win. We need to tighten up the pass Dee a little. Zone Dee is a little to soft and gave up over 80yds on 2 plays.
Fsu 2 toughest games left are us and Duke both at their place.
We got to keep getting better but it's good to now know, if teams want to load up the box we can wear them out throwing and if they want to lay back, we'll just run it down their throat.
Another good thing so far is the penalties, we have cut that back.
Got to get healthy in the next two weeks.

Old Skool

Damn!!! Fins put up 70 on the Broncos

WR Ny Carr has de-committed from the Dogs.
Hope KB and Mario's mojo is strong.

Herbieibis

They've had aim on Carr for awhile.

JCane

Rumors about Carr to both UM and FSU for a while now. Just hope Lee and Parrish will be back soon at this point.

Old Skool

The Rutgers punter doing kicks ARF style and now the Long Island QB with a side-arm underhanded pass motion. It's good to see a couple of guys shaking up the old ways of doing things and having success.

GT is a night game: 8:00 PM on 10/7

Ohio_Cane

Canes lead for WR Ny Carr. Jeremiah Smith coming to UM is now a reality and not a hope. We don't lead. Yet. But we can, and soon.

He's visiting for the GT game, so hopefully the offense goes off in front of him like he did in front of our staff last week

JCane

L McCoy, N Carr, and J Smith are all now possibilities. If you build it, they will come. Keep showing the O is legit, and 1 or maybe 2 of these guys come to UM. If FSU stays legit, one or two of these guys could also consider them. Somehow Auburn is still on Carr's list, but their O last week vs TAMU was meh. I still Smith to OSU, but if UM continues to keep their promise with the O, and GT is a good time to show up, anything is possible.

Herbieibis

If I had to rank the teams first Smith Now,
OSU
FSU
Miami
If we play well against UNC and Clemson, I see a real chance at a flip but in reality it comes down to us and FSU and that game.

Old Skool

From the Sun-Sentinel ..

Van Dyke’s 2023 numbers compared to 2022:

Last season: 63.2 completion percentage, 7.3 yards per attempt, 10 touchdowns, five interceptions and an 89.1 NFL passer rating.

This season: 74.7 completion percentage, 10.5 yards per attempt, 11 touchdowns, one interception and a 141 NFL passer rating.

Pro Football Focus rates him the best quarterback in the country through four weeks.

Van Dyke is 10 for 15 for 332 yards on passes that travel at least 20 air yards — which is exceptional.

orange 'n green in the vein

He's had two, maybe three, pass attempts where he was pressured, escaped the pocket and should throw it away downfield out of bounds instead of step out for a short loss trying to get around edge of containment, but other than that, you wouldn't change a single decision he's made so far this year approaching midway. Hope he keeps it rolling because the ceiling is a level of unprecedented football program success if he stays upright and healthy.

Don't know about "unprecedented" success but a very high level equal to 5 previous Nattys will suffice.

orange 'n green in the vein

Only Hurricane football team to ever play 13 games missed out on playing 14 or more, that would be "unprecedented" for the program and is attainable this season as the ceiling in 2023. Let the apple go in comparison to the orange . . .

Old Skool

The Heat Drama is finally over. Dame goes to the Bucks

86Cane

OGV...excellent point that means abosultely nothing, maybe less. A perfect undefeated season with a Natty would suffice. If they win 12, 13, 14 games, hell even 17 would not matter Hosenfeffer!

Never realized how really good TVD is, as a quarterback. So pleased to watch him grow and become a top notch Canes quarterback.
Of course, for me, Ken Dorsey, will always be my all time favorite!🧡💚

JCane

Breland to announce on 10/14

JCane

Don't see the odds as great for the JuCo CB (10/8 announcement) or Breland coming to UM, as both come from the west, which makes them tough to draw from Oregon, USC, etc. Guess maybe will have to do.

Lots of rumors circulating again about the ACC 3 that voted against expansion making announcements soon.

Herbieibis

Hard to get a West Coast kid.
Really have to be riding high for a minute to pull a left coast kid.
Will have to more than likely have to be in serious flip mode in Dec. To get another high level DT. Kids still don't believe we are the real deal. Got to beat UNC and Clemson to prove them wrong or at least look good.
Defensive recruits seem to still be a struggle.
There is no team that we can't beat, left on the schedule.
Playing at a high level week to week is tough. We can only hope if the OH is struggling the Dee can pull us thru and vice versa.
Hard to see any team shutting us down on OH.
The secondary is the only worry, as they have been gutted at times but they are tackling way better than last year. Guidry is good but we don't have a lot of elite CB's but have been efficient.

Old Skool

From the All Yellow Jackets website after the Bowling Green loss in which Tech was up 14-0 and couldn't hold the lead.

The run defense has been one of the worst in the country all season and the tackling is some of the worst in the country. The linebacker play is near the bottom of the ACC and after an offseason of talking about the depth on the defensive line, there has been no substance to it.

Me thinks it's now the Grumbling Wreck

Old Skool

Surprise! Hurricanes open as big favorites for the game

Uh, not so sure about that. FSU looks really good and Duke played Notre Dame tough and could have easily won that game. I wouldn't get too cocky just yet home slice!

Yeah.
Incidentally, where are the bloggers who previously opined that Miami needs a dual threat quarterback (like JB) rather than a pro style pocket passer (like TVD)? Where are they now?

Old Skool

So a UCF player named Javon Baker called out the student section for leaving during the second quarter. He questioned how the football players are supposed to play their hearts out when they see the student section emptying.

Way back I could empathize but football players have been set apart more and more from the regular students. They lived apart from the students in dorms that have grown more and more lavish and decked out with unbelievable amenities. They ate apart from the students in private dining halls. They had tutors, private study hall. Some hardly went to class at all (see Deion Sanders). Many drove new cars and always had pocket money for dates. They got a lot of attention and girls. When they got in trouble or even broke the law, they got special treatment. And now, they're getting paid outright to play football -- or even just visit the campus -- with many of them choosing where to go based on which university offers the most money,
As a student, I'm supposed to relate to that and support them wholeheartedly. I don't think so.

Herbieibis

Not getting cocky, just saying that isn't a team we can't beat left on the schedule. Yes we can lose but talent wise and with these new coordinators we can beat anybody in the ACC.

GT was caught completely tunnel vision looking ahead at home, Miami can not do the same even coming off a bye week and healthy and expect to win as the wreck of a football team is improved as an overall roster this season even if they're severely over-matched on both sides of the lines of scrimmage while they sort out their coaching deficiencies in the middle of the year. Establishing and then stopping the run will be the key for UM, I wouldn't start out spying King every down on defense, but if he shows he can beat containment with his feet constantly, they may need to dedicate a spy to stopping that last resort offensive strategy by Tech.

Anyone who thinks Brown has potential in the future at the position is projecting him on a third year of development in the program point of his career, which he's just nearing sight of over the horizon now so I'm not sure who was supposed to be standard bearing that idea on this blob, but whatever? Now, the turnover machine flushed out transfer backup from last season, they had some poor blobbers out here yapping about how amazing that guy could have been instead of the starter, if he could only fall on the fumbled snaps he always left lying around constantly, I guess? Yes, those have up and vanished, for the most part, but good riddance to bad blobbers in that case.
