One unknown fact is that during the UM football games a few of us long time Canespacers who have attended several games together and even completed a few "Four Play" events (where we have attended four Miami Hurricanes sports events in just three days) often have some crazy text chats to discuss the game and the current state of affairs at UM.
One of those who frequently participates in these undisclosed chats is Terrance Sullivan who lives in Alabama but has always bled orange and green. Like most Hurricane fans, TSully (as I refer to him) was practically oozing confidence just a couple of short weeks ago. Oh how times have changed!
The confidence ended when UM head coach Mario Cristobal had a momentary lapse of reason and crapped the bed by running the ball instead of taking a knee against lowly Georgia Tech costing Miami the game and most likely the entire season all at the same time. Apparently, all hope was gone.
Well after last night's loss to UNC, TSully was having none of it and let loose his anger and frustration. He ripped into the Hurricanes after their second consecutive ACC loss, this one to the hated Tar Heels, a team coached by Mack Brown that has beaten Miami five straight times.
One thing during our chat that he made perfectly clear to me is that my "Crystal Ball" is clearly not working properly. Well that's not how he put it exactly, but I can't repeat here exactly what he said. After he let loose, TSully asked me "How could anybody in his right mind predict that Miami would beat UNC?"
Yes, it is true that both NativeCane (Wally) and I had predicted that Miami would show up strong and beat the Tar Heels convincingly. I had to tell Terrance that "We were not in our right mind, we were just hoping and dreaming of good things to come" and there was no harm in giving the Canes the beneift of the doubt. Sure, we wound up being wrong, but our intentions were good, right?
Then my good friend Mr. Sullivan came up with a new name for Miami's head coach: "Mario Cristofraud". I told him surely he must be kidding. He told me "Don't call me Shirley, and no, I am not kidding.
So that is a summary of the Miami vs North Carolina game from a Canespace perspective. No we didn't quote the stats, we didn't say why we won or lost and hell no we didn't even report the score of the game.
The facts are as follows:
- Miami lost to North Carolina.
- That's two losses in a row to ACC teams.
- Miam's head coach is now named Mario Cristofraud.
Ughhh... Sad... Disappointing... Tired of this sh!t...

I think that the name is so fitting. Mario Cristofraud. He was a fraud in Oregon and a fraud, for the Hurricanes. Who the hell mad the decision to hire hm?? The Board of Trustees? Someone give me the pecking order, so I know who to take my hatred on. I am old, but I am a pissed Alumna.
The school is all about money. But where are the extremely wealthy alumni? The Rock, the Estefan’s, Michael Irvin, Ed Reed, and that guys who throws money around, like it was kernels of popcorn.
At least my Detroit Lions are winning, 3 - 0
Give me your thoughts.🟩🟧

Exquisite taste, so obviously correct advice lol!
Not going to win a lot of games on the road against a good team going -4 in net turnovers and playing one good quarter in a C- level of performance. Luckily this week's opponent isn't playing their season's super bowl for once in a row so maybe they can fix the issues at the midpoint for the back stretch to rally. Van Dyke needs another year in the system to be able to look off defenders to really exploit the match ups they are creating now and he can get them in the final top #12 to have a chance to win a title so it's the smart move at this point.
At least basketball season is here.

Thank You Soupster! U know we take no pleasure in our Miami Hurricanes continuing to underachieving but one thing about our Canespace Family! We Will Always Keep It 💯! Even When It Hurts So Bad! Miami Bought 80 Million Dollars 💸 Bags 🎒 of Mario Cristofraud! Jiminy Christmas! My God! Go Canes!

Winners don't wear orange ties.
See 2015 Clemson game
Kaaya 51 yards passing
Yearby 42 yards rushing
Coley 51 yards receiving
Al Golden ... just watching
I need to find an appropriate way to dispose of the tie.

At least my Detroit Lions just won. Great for this blue collar community. Love my Lions. But, love my CANES. Don’t know what the answer is, but there has to be one.
What say you. Reminds me of Al Golden and his damn orange tie.
What do the newspapers say about this debacle? Coaches have to come to mind first. Piss, if they paid me that kind of money, I would spend, spend and spend to get the best talent in the WORLD. Tell me who was the catalyst to hire hm. As an alumnus and a U player, you would think he would search the world for the best. Nobody should be paid that kind of money. But, I live on a small pension and Social Security disability.
Now, on to the poor souls in the Middle East. That’s where the real tragedy exists, on all sides. 🇺🇸🇮🇱

In other news ...
Flag football has been added to the 2028 Summer Olympics in LA. That's the rhythmic gymnastics of football. Might as well package them with synchronized swimming as a trifecta for the chamomille tea fans who are triggered by actually hitting.
For those who find baseball games to be too short and intense, the Olympics is also adding cricket

Deep insight from the coach in the Herald ...
There are some really good plays that put us in position in games. And then there’s some brutally critical errors, at critical moments, that are very costly. And in the area of turnovers and penalties, football’s unforgiving when it comes to those two things.
Posted by: Old Skool | October 16, 2023 at 01:24 PM
Hi everyone Hoping today is better than the horrible Saturday loss in football. I keep saying that I am not going to watch the team anymore, but I am always drawn back, like many alumni.
I am waiting for basketball, which I never expected to like. But, after last year, those kids are fun to watch. Isiah Wong was my favorite.
Cold, sunny day, up here in Michigan.
ROOT CANAL TOMORROW. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
What are they saying about Mario????
Posted by: MLALUMNI 1970 | October 16, 2023 at 02:03 PM
Marylou - 24 hour rule - be bummed for 24 hours and then move on LOL. Isaiah Wong plays for the Indiana Pacers in the NBA this year :)
Posted by: CGNC | October 16, 2023 at 02:20 PM
Mario says that we could/would have won the game on Saturday but for the penalties and turnovers we committed at critical moments in the game.
Okay, I get that!
Unfortunately, Mario, despite all the usual "coach speak" about "fixing the problem" (in ensuing practices), in truth there is little or no way to effectively coach players to avoid costly penalties and turnovers (in ensuing games). Sh*t happens! And, sad to say, it becomes most notable and problematic in the most closely contested games.
The only way to really overcome the negative effect of penalties and turnovers (which are random but still somewhat inevitable) is for the coaching staff to train our players on offense to score MORE POINTS and our players on defense to force our opponents to score LESS POINTS.
In the final analysis, this is still the most effective way to militate against overly critical consequences of penalties, turnovers (and coaching errors) on game days.
Posted by: W | October 16, 2023 at 05:31 PM
W:
You forgot to mention coaches teaching themselves not to commit costly penalties, like say a DC getting an unsportsmanlike conduct call when the opponent has to go for a 4th down conversion on your 20 something yard line. Sigh...
Hoops is ranked 13 in preseason polls, 3 spots behind FAU, with Duke at 2 and KU at 1. The U has a lot of talent, but how the new folks come together is the question. I think they're going to be fun to watch this season. Basketball U!
Posted by: JCane | October 16, 2023 at 07:50 PM
It's not coaching. It's also not talent. It's IQ. The mouthbreathing on that sideline is overwhelming.
I was also told RBs are trained to keep two arms around the ball when heading up the middle but for whatever reason, we fumbled not once but twice in critical moments. Granted, one of those should have been a kneel or a 30-second run the other way for a safety. Lol
Posted by: 360Cane | October 17, 2023 at 08:58 AM
I will check on Isiah and the Pacers. I think that our Basketball team will be terrific this year, with a few Canes from last year. Larranaga is a cool coach, too.
No root canal today. I went and I need big time surgery done on that damn tooth, and then an implant, for about 6 or 7 thousand dollars!
Oh piss!
Who does play on Saturday??? Maybe a high school team. I told all of you before, that I am too old to keep on losing.💚🧡💚🧡

From the Sun-Sentinel
UM’s tight ends have a combined five catches for 77 yards. They have been targeted just eight times. Last season, Miami targeted tight ends 7.25 times per game. So far this year, tight ends have been targeted 1.3 times per game.
Posted by: Old Skool | October 18, 2023 at 09:30 AM
Its a lot of things....I am sure my HS team could beat UM....coaching and talent and fundamentals are just not up to par.
The worse is yet to come....we lose to Clemson no doubt..FSU...does not matter dont throw out the records out they are way better than us and will love the beatdown...The Ville...another loss...7-5 6-6 this yeart another bust...

Here is a question why didn’t we sit TVD for the Bethune Game several weeks back! Hell that’s a Game Jacurri Brown should have started and backups not named Emory should have played and we still win by 4 touchdowns and TVD would have been less banged up! You have 4 games to play Jacurri! Also why worry about Red Shirting Guys! Attention Mario and Shannon it’s 2023 not 2013 play your players and don’t worry about redshirting how especially in the era of transfer portal! Our Roster Management so far this season has been poo poo!

Posted by: KYcane | October 18, 2023 at 08:59 PM
Well, the TE's were the toast of the town last year, this year it's the WR's, I guess next year it will be the RB's being targeted.
Basically the other team can forget about our TE and Rb's catching passes and only worry about 3 wr's. Rush 3 or 4 and the other 7 cover 3 guys.
What we really need is a dual threat qb. Most would say we have one but until he learns how to be a good passer, we don't have one.
Brown is a very good athlete but throwing is his Albatros.
Van Dyke could help some if he would run on some RPO's, at least 3 or 4 times a game. That's is something else the opposing dee don't have to worry about.
So in conclusion, they don't have to worry about the TE's or RB's catching the ball or the QB running. Looks like we have a pretty limited offense.
Also no break away threat, that starts anyway.
LJ McCray will be announcing soon and unless things change, that will be another whiff at DT.
Our lone big DT Artavious Jones is heading to Talley this weekend and he is wobbling in the breeze. We need more size at DT. Leonard can barely play half the snaps and sure ain't playing like no potential first round pick. Hadn't heard Harvey's name mentioned much at all this year.

Tidbit from the Herald
Cristobal said tight end Elijah Arroyo — expected to have a bigger role this week in his second game back from a knee injury 13 months ago – “can do it all. He can stretch the field, good in the run game. You’ll see that tight ends production go up and up and up.”
Okay, start the counter ...

I'll be turning the game off and going to bed as soon as TVD throws a pick into triple coverage forcing the ball to X, meanwhile the TE is wide open underneath

Yeah Arroyo can do it all to da tune of maybe 2 targets. I don't get the deal with Skinner, he played more last year than this year. Maybe he is in the same boat as Moss, he can't gain weight. Cyrus is about 6'6 but maybe weighs 225. Skinner is around 6'4 and probably weighs the same.

It’s Game Day! In My Opinion The Most Consequential Game Of The Year! Win It and you prove that you are indeed a Good Team and on the right track, or Lose The Game and it proves you are at best a average team with not a true Big Win or your Resume since 2017 (Coach Mark Richt Era). Put Up or Shut Up Time! Go Canes! Beat Clemson!
