The unknown is Jacurro. We shall see

U mean Jacuzzi, right?

John Campbell Jr.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound offensive lineman appeared in nine games for the Vols in 2023. He was named Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week following Tennessee’s win at Kentucky on Oct. 28

Coaching matters.

58 Straight

Read it and weep. Our OL coach is nothing like this guy:

Old Skool

Jaleel Skinner entered the portal. Can't blame him. TE's catching passes are as rare as Yeti sightings in this offense.

Herbieibis

To much of a Slim Jim. Needed to gain weight. Wouldn't be surprised to see Cyrus Moss next another who has had a tough time gaining weight.

LOL yes, Jacuzzi Jocurro

Old Skool

Moss is a loss. He's entered the portal.
Good call Herbie

JCane

Think we're in good position for many incoming freshmen, including some flips, but I'd like to see who the portal qb will be. Only so many pretty girls out there with a lot of suitors. I like the qb from Chaminade as a flip from NC State potentially, let alone what that might do to better tempt his teammate.

Easy win, as expected, on the hardwood.

Good call, Herb. 8 guys in the portal, likely more to go. We have a good shot of flipping Lyle to UM, which likely means at least 1 more RB exits.

Herbieibis

Can't play DE at 225lbs. 3-4 defense where he could be an outside backer might be his calling. Would like to have seen him play more but that didn't happen. In this day in time there ain't no stacking talent, maybe for one year and they on the way out. Nobody wants to sit. We got a few more on the OH line that need to beat it too. Fox, Denis and Sagapolo.
We need to be getting Cam Ward. All we need is someone to drive the get away car and we will be in business.
TO be 11-1 OSU is having a little exodus. Maybe good for us and Jeramiah, although he still might be leaning if he were to flip to FSU. If we can Flip his QB maybe we get him.
Looks like we are going to be adding another 49 players or close. Better be getting some Beef up front via the portal.
Go after Patrick Payton as he has jumped in the portal and add a saftey.

Old Skool

Canes win 97-49.
Only 2 players didn't score.

Herbieibis

Should of been 40 players not 49 added.

Old Skool

BTW It's rumored that Manny Diaz is one of the finalists for the Duke job. If he gets it, we could be facing Manny and Lashlee in the near future.

58 Straight

Skool, I saw that. Diaz Does Duke?

Old Skool

Manuel is a Devil. Happy Valley Lotus Eaters Heartbroken. Here's a classic tweet if that is what you still call them on X

Man, Penn State is going to win so many national championships from the NIL money that comes from the amount of Happy Valley Vodka I’m about to drown myself with.

Old Skool

This is nuts (if true). Colleges competing for players with the NFL.

According to Christian Williams of Footballguys, Ohio State star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and running back TreVeyon Henderson - who announced a return to the Buckeyes already - have been offered NIL deals that mirror the compensation of what a first-round NFL Draft pick could earn, in hopes of inspiring a return to Columbus next season.

Harrison is projected to go as high as No. 2 in the NFL Draft, so that financial figure could be close to $25 million, per Sports Illustrated's Andrew Brandt.

orange 'n green in the vein

Colorado has a better reason to be ranked than just getting votes instead of Duke basketball right now, they just keep losing with every step currently all over tobacco road. Miami will be tested in Brooklyn in being able to get out and run without turning the ball over, hopefully they pack their defensive assignment wins on the bus.

Old Skool

Scratch Gabriel from the QB list. He committed to Oregon

JCane

Matt Lee has declared for the draft

JCane

Colbie Young hits the portal, Kendall Jackson- recent Gator decommit on the DL- verbals to the U. What a DL class! Ongoing thoughts about maybe flipping Blount back from FSU and/or flipping D Stewart from S Car, which would only add to a potentially awesome DL haul this yr. Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see another 1-2 DLs transfer in, along with, of course, a center given Lee's departure.

Gabriel was never coming to the U, OS. He may get more money at Oregon than he would have gotten in the NFL, at least from a draft level status. Looks like most UM chatter is on Ward, the WSU kid, Howard, the KSU kid, the JMU or the Toledo kid, and whether the U can flip the Chaminade qb, Bailey, from NC State. I like the odds of getting Lyle, rb,to flip from OSU. Regardless, Mario is making recruiting interesting, up to being the #5 class AT THE MOMENT, which means nothing since Ws and Ls are the real rankings.12/20 will clarify much. As for Jeremiah Smith, he might be too much to hope for, but I'll think we have a fighting chance if Bailey flips.

Hope the basketball team kicks Prime's school's butts manana.

RCCF

Recruiting and Flip Season has me juiced for 2024...Mario is on Go Mode and the players we're losing aren't comparable to those we're retaining!! It's Only Up from here!! My Only Concern is getting out of the Adidas contract lol.....Seriously, as much as ppl believe in rigged games and corporate influence I don't understand for the life of me how NOONE notices no team outside of Cam's Auburn team has won a recent Natty w/o wearing Nike/Jordan...

RCCF12%

JCane

Cam Ward announces his final 4, and interestingly, OSU isn't there. Says it's between FSU, UM, USC and Auburn.

It does look like the talent and depth are all on the way up, RCCF, although DB and QB still need more....so far...we'll see how Mario closes.

JCane

Big bro Mauigoa will stay, so that's a big LB keep. Zay Mincey, dB, will announce at all-american game on 1/6. He would be a big keep from the middle of the state.

RCCF

I like our DBs especially in the case we haven't seen the young guys...not saying they'll be All Americans but I trust they're talented or desire to be, because none have applied for the Portal yet....that being said, I'll gladly take a CB & S in the portal just for surety but I trust the youth...

QB....I'm hopefully JB11 Shows Up, Shows Out, and Stays, However....I want 2 portal kids or 1 portal kid and 2 recruits....but we need 3 scholly QBs coming in in 2024..

RCCF12%

Herbieibis

Well, we need at least 2 DT's from the portal, size. Going to need at least 2 Qb's and the portal guy needs to be versatile. We need someone who can use their legs. The high school Dee linemen they are bringing are going to be good but need to put on weight and get stronger to be able to contribute right away. Hopefully most are early entrants.
Need to find another bigger WR in the port. Riding is our biggest wr at 6'2, Kirk also may be about that size. I'm surprised that Redding hasn't jumped ship yet. Don't understand Young leaving but probably wants to be the man. Restrepo lost his pacifier so do 't know if he will bolt.
Need a couple Db's both corner and safety.
Need a couple OH linemen, one being a center.
Not really thrilled with most of the high school OH linemen they Are bringing in. To me, if they can get on the field in yr. 3 they may help with depth.
I think Blount will flip back but the big gets would be Mincey and Smith.

JCane

Herb:

I think Isiah Horton is the biggest WR at the moment at 6'4", and incoming (hopefully) Chance Robinson is a big guy, too, although I don't think more than @ 6'2". I suspect we'll get some solid DL depth through the portal, and UM is presenting an image on the DL of being worth the wait, which means hopefully better than just depth. Mario is doing his homework, as he always does, but being methodical in this scenario is probably fine. I think they could probably bring in CJ Clark from NC State now if they're sure.

Agreed about Center through the portal, and would love Mincey. I think the U is in this for him. I wouldn't be surprised with a Blount reflip. I'm not as convinced about Smith, but when it comes to recruiting, Mario seems to have more nice than bad surprises.

Terrance Sullivan

Canes Hoops with the most embarrassing loss in the last 3 Years! We laid down in the 2nd Half. This is not a Championship Team this year sadly. A Tournament Team at best. Missing Wong and Miller something fierce! Go Canes! The Lady Canes are playing outstanding.

Old Skool

Rumor has it that Colbie is leaving because he wasn't satisfied with the NIL money he was due to get. Apparently, he wants to be a checkbook champion.

Old Skool

This is getting to be like a game of musical QBs. Dillion Gabriel enters the portal and commits to Oregon. After the commitment, the presumptive starter at Oregon, Ty Thompson, decided to enter the portal which could cause the QB at wherever he lands to enter the portal.

If I were a talented QB today, I would commit to a second-tier program where I could start, gain experience and stats which show my value and play for a year or two. Then hit the portal and auction my services to top notch programs for my payday and national exposure. Basically, you use the second-rate school as a showcase, a tryout, a farm team or minor league.

W

Rumor has it that Colbie is leaving because he wasn't satisfied with the NIL money he was due to get.
Posted by: Old Skool | December 11, 2023 at 07:59 AM

It used to be "all about the U". THOSE DAYS ARE DEAD. Now it's "ALL about the $NIL". (Pay to play; pay to stay). Unfortunately, this is a game the U cannot win!

Herbieibis

Yeah, forgot about Horton. Caught the TD pass against A&M and really didn't hear much after.
If we can some how get Ward, I can see flipping Smith. The Buckos are probably in the market for a QB. FSU don't have squat at QB, Rodemaker is it. Duffy is transfering.

W

Unfortunately, this is a game the U cannot win - especially when our erstwhile "billionaire booster" has seen the value of his company's stock plummet by about 95 percent in the last year, and another important UM booster is now (presumably) "all in" on professional soccer.

NIL money is Dante's Fourth Circle of Hell ("Greed").
And the transfer portal had evolved into Dante's Ninth (and lowest) Circle of Hell ("Treachery").

Sad to say but the college sport U used to love is now burning in Hell.

W

Typographical error:

I intended to say DEVOLVED rather than EVOLVED.

Sorry about that!

BOTTOM LINE: In my opinion, college football today is "one hell of" a sport; but NOT in a good way.

JCane

Since Bailey has affirmed his commitment to NC State, I think it's even less likely Smith comes to the U, Herb.

Old Skool

True W. I'm starting to feel a bit jaded about college football. The more it becomes about money, the less attachment to the school you feel you share with the players. They're not really fellow students, they're free agents/mercenaries doing a job.

Old Skool

Vegas is now offering odds on which schools portal QBs will sign with. Here are Grayson McCall's odds.

NC State 2/3 (-150)
Central Florida 2/1

Nebraska 4/1

James Madison 5/1

Ohio State 7/1

South Carolina 7/1

Duke 10/1

San Diego State 12/1

Notre Dame 14/1

Oklahoma State 20/1

Auburn 25/1

Michigan State 33/1

Old Skool

As Dante Moore is learning, this is how you maximize your playing opportunities in the era of the portal transfer.

Former Boise State quarterback Taylen Green announced his commitment to Arkansas. The 6-foot-6, 221-pound redshirt sophomore received interest from LSU, California, BYU, Oregon State, and multiple other FBS programs.

Over three seasons, Green completed 59% of his passes for 3,794 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 1,022 rushing yards, and 19 rushing touchdowns. He entered the season on the watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Davey O'Brien Award, and Walter Camp Award.

Green had an outstanding freshman year with 2,042 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, 586 rushing yards, and 10 rushing touchdowns. He was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year and earned Freshman All-American honors.

Yeah, but about that coaching?

JCane

Cam Ward to visit on Tuesday, while still talking of the option of declaring for the NFL draft (ie leverage to get more out of colleges, as exactly how high of a pick would he truly be)

Old Skool

Howard was supposedly in Miami today. No further info and how it went between Moe and Mario.

Herbieibis

Airwaves are filling up with talk about expansion again. FSU to the big 10, the SEC would interested in taking UNC and Virginia and us going to the big 12. At this point, any of those 3 are better than the ACC
Adding SMI, Cal & Stanford did not make conference stronger, only more mediocre.
The exit fine is the problem but with more revenue generated by going to another conference they could pay back the fee relatively quickly

Old Skool

Didn't see that one coming.

JCane

I think our odds of landing either Ward or Howard are pretty darn good. I'm good with either of them, although with different styles..ie Ward is obviously the more dynamic runner. Hopefully one commits quickly, as the sooner it's done, the sooner we can cover portal players, maybe the Bama WR, and hs (would it possibly attract Smith?). Should be an interesting week. Truly the talent level and depth is improving significantly.

JCane

I also saw one article talking about the ACC and Big 12 looking to form some type of alliance, Herb. I'm done trying to figure out what will happen next.

Old Skool

And yea though Tyler considered the Valley of the Happy, he cheered not for Manny had gone to Duke and Tyler was coveted by Luke. The squad and the staff comforted him. They prepared a table before him, anointed his head with cheese and made his cup runneth over with the dollars of NIL. And thus Mario said unto him. I don’t condemn thee. Go and be intercepted no more.

Herbieibis

JC,
We got to get out of this conference, somehow.

Impressive work there Old Skool.
(Are we losing our minds over this stuff, or what?) 🙌🏼 🙌🏼 🙌🏼

Can't win many games where 4/5 starters get their ass handed to them by their defensive assignment on the other team. Refusal to hide the lack of dominant height in the starting five against more athletic and taller opposition is going to absolutely kill them in conference even as I hope they play zero total possessions in zone the rest of the way. Cleveland refuses to find a body to box out when a shot goes up on defense right now, which can't happen. The Pimp has had enough of the turnovers and instituted a 12 turnover a scrimmage limit on pain of only running for the rest of a practice if they hit that number now, which should clean that crap up going forward. Improve their help defense, improve their willingness as a five person team to get a body boxing out a body each shot attempt, and they can still climb this season. No seniors on the roster means if they can keep the core rotation intact and fortify the roster front-court next year to be better at deflecting the best shots they're taking as a circled on the schedule opportunity for the opposition they can be much better overall, but right now, they're getting eaten alive defensively against quality rosters.

LaSalle has a thin bench, seven core in the rotation only, and their biggest guy is about right at the size limit of a mismatch Omier can defend effectively at the 4 or 5 out of ideal position so they match up better this time out and of course, the Friday nightlife South Beach flu always takes the most out of opponents trying to tip at noon Saturday for scientifically mysterious reasons, hopefully it's enough to get them back on the right track and refuel the confidence tanks of the program because they can use it about now.

If you only hand the football off and finish in the middle of a decent conference, sure, you cut down on turnovers, but you don't improve draft stock. Enjoy freezing your ass off for the last best year of your life, thanks for the top 25 victories as an underdog you engineered. Brock Berlin was undefeated against the primary rivals, anyone who racks up zero wins against them can only be middling at best as a player and can't really be missed at Miami.

Old Skool

New QB rumors are flying around faster than players at a Randy Shannon practice. I have no insight, no secret information, only what I've read on the socials. Those who supposedly have inside info offer vague hints about who will be signing and when, so to that I'll add my own. What do a Leave It to Beaver character and a former FSU quarterback have in common?

As for the timeline, how long would it take to binge watch every episode of Game of Thrones?

W

We got to get out of this conference, somehow.
