The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its 2023-24 Academic Honor Roll on Thursday, and the University of Miami placed a school-record 271 student-athletes on the list.
The ACC Academic Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year. This marks the most-ever ACC student-athlete honorees with 6,187 — the first time the number has eclipsed the 6,000 mark.
“I am incredibly proud of all our Hurricanes student-athletes who made the ACC Academic Honor Roll this past year,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said. “I want to thank our coaching and academic staffs for helping us set a school record and continuing to help our student-athletes achieve their goals in the classroom.”
Each of the ACC’s 15 schools had multiple student-athletes who achieved ACC Academic Honor Roll listing for the fifth time, which for Miami included Mimmi Balaam (rowing), Abby Casiano (volleyball), Melissa Dagenais (soccer), Paige Jackett (rowing), Tarynn Kaelin (rowing), Liane Lopez (rowing), Aino Otava (swimming), Taylor Shell (soccer), Emma Shuppert (swimming), Constance Stirling (rowing), Savannah Vach (volleyball), Mia Vallée (diving) and Taylor Wright (track and field). Twenty-one UM student-athletes earned honors for the fourth time in their careers.

Well, at least we have smart athletes.
Posted by: Herbieibis | July 12, 2024 at 06:25 PM
5 of them row. Who knew the kids in the boat were the smartest.
Busy next week coming up for recruits announcing. Looking like the secondary is gonna be well-stocked, at least...hopefully.

I will say this; no matter where we finish in any sport, male or female the object of a university is to educate young people. It has to be the prime objective to assure local state national and international advancement and success!
I love winning it matters! I hate losing! You all know that! However, winning in the classroom to me is much more important than winning on the field.
In 40 years I never had a losing season or a .500 season won a bunch of Super Bowls....had kids star in HS college had 1 player go to UM Dedrick Epps and 4 go to the pros. this is wonderful but I am more proud of my players who have gone onto to be community leaders in government business sports and education. This is how you develop a community and make it better. You mentor your players on and off the field if you do not you have failed.
I am very proud of the UM kids; my niece went to UM and got a wonderful education and is doing well in marine biology and research. It cost me a lot of money but what well spent money. Her fiancee has just asked me to if he might marry her; he might get my permission...LOL!!!! He will have to change his loyalties from UGA to UM....that's what I told him!!!! LOL!!!
Great kudos to UM administration, faculty, and staff. Job well done, excellence is a great thing.
So we have achieved in the classroom, now we need to keep it going!
Now went must focus on the real fundamentals of football, and I see it has been the biggest aspect lacking in our football team since 2002-03 team....its time to get after it.
“Gentlemen, we will chase perfection, and we will chase it relentlessly, knowing all the while we can never attain it. But along the way, we shall catch excellence.”
― Vincent Thomas Lombardi
This is what Life Family School and Football...in that order is all about!
Hope all are well....its that time again family....Soup...whats up with the bus? remember we had to tow it back to Miami last year!!!!! any news?
God bless you all! VAC

… Give him hell VA! LOL Tell him anyone can be a UGA fan, it’s easy these days. It take a real FAN to stick with The Canes nowadays! Haha. Maybe times are a changing?? Maybe The Bus got its engine overhauled?? And Marine Biology?… that is awesome! Happy for you and your niece. She sounds like an excellent young scientist. And we just wrapped up Shark Week!
Hey CGNC! Mid-life has thrown me a few curve balls (like everyone I’m sure), but just gotta keep swinging. Hope you’re good!

Suks to hear about Bernie. Loved that guy and even rooted for the Browns because of him - not enough to wear their jersey or anything insane like that lol. But he was a player that made the players around him better and physically did more with less. It’s inspiring to see his positive attitude and just hope for the best for him.

Pickett announces today at 4pm. Likely Oregon vs the U.
Posted by: JCane | July 17, 2024 at 12:34 PM
Feel so badly for Bernie Kosar. Such a magnificent Hurricane quarterback, for sure. He loved the U and played his heart out. I never thought he drank that much. I don’t drink at all, I take Tramadol for back pain.
On another note, my love, Richard, for 40 years, fell, has a fractured back. His kids have put him in a facility and have tried to keep me from seeing him. So evil of them. I need all my Canes buddies to say a prayer for me, so I can get in to see him. He’s the love of my life.
I love all our Canespacers.❤️

Cormani McClain metastasizing at Florida ...
The news regarding McClain comes fresh off another report which stated that McClain had consistently been either late or absent from multiple team events including lifts, meetings and other required affairs.

I think Pickett is actually announcing at 7pm.
Truly, sad news about Kosar. He ushered in the era of national championships at UM.
Posted by: JCane | July 17, 2024 at 05:07 PM
All the rumors for Pickett were either UMiami or Oregon with LSU a distant 3rd. Gotta love the recruiting world, as he verbals to LSU. Huge loss for the Canes, as a 5 star DB from FL, and part of a legacy family. That being said, I doubt the U will stop recruiting him, and with enough wins this season, anything should be possible for recruiting.
Posted by: JCane | July 17, 2024 at 07:25 PM
And the beat goes on with top notch DB's heading elsewhere and the same with WR's.

Hi Canespacers, Just checking in to see how all of you are doing. I am with my love, Richard. 40 years in love. I need prayers for him. Thank you everyone. I love all of you.🙏❤️

Jamboree Antoine announces tomorrow at 4pm, between UM and LSU supposedly, with rumors over the last 2 days having him trending to LSU again following the Pickett verbal

4 star dB Jaboree Antoine from LA picks UM. Truly, the dB verbals do look pretty darn good, in spite of missing out on Pickett.

Thank you so much for all of your support and prayers. He’s good brain wise, but the body is giving out. My Richard is in a long term Medical Center here in Michigan. I’m with him everyday. Thank you for everything. My heart is broken, because he is my true love for over 40 years.🙏❤️🙏❤️❤️🙏❤️

Hope our USA athletes do well in Paris. Been to Paris only once, but it was awesome. Went decades ago, when my mom was alive.❤️
How is my friend 86 doing? Hope he and Maria are doing well.

Woohoo more money for everybody
As part of the new revenue-sharing model — beginning in 2025-26 academic year — by-sport scholarship restrictions are eliminated, and schools are permitted to offer scholarships to the entirety of their rosters. The new roster limit figures are not final until the approval of settlement terms.
Football, with a current scholarship restriction of 85, will now have a roster limit of 105 — a 20-scholarship increase for those schools willing to give the maximum. In an important note for football, the 105 may not be a requirement until the start of the competitive season, giving coaches flexibility to go beyond that figure during preseason camp

Yeah, some teams were carrying 130, counting walkon players. Now the walkons will pretty much be eliminated or will be very few. This probably limit some contact during the week as players get injured.

Amari Wallace likely out for his freshman year. Suffered a compound leg fracture in a scrimmage. average recovery time 15 months. Likely medical redshirt

Alex Sidrick runs over one player then dashes the equivalent of 99 yards as time expires. The US women beat the Aussies to win the bronze medal in rugby.
